Girl's legal challenge to CPS!

I haven't seen this posted already, apologies if I missed an existing thread. The Times is reporting that a girl is challenging the CPS over 'pro trans' bias. Another legal challenge, another example of the flimsy construction of these policies.

^Girl, 14, takes on prosecution service over ‘pro-trans bias’ The girl has already forced the CPS to withdraw guidance on transgender bullying
A teenage girl has threatened the Crown Prosecution Service with legal action over its alleged bias about transgender issues. Lawyers for the 14-year-old have told the CPS that it must pull out of a “diversity champions” programme run by the charity Stonewall, which campaigns for equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people.
The campaign group gives diversity awards to employers who support gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender staff members and expects them to do so “beyond” the workplace, encouraging members to be “advocates and agents of positive change”.A pre-action letter issued by the girl’s lawyers said the CPS’s association with Stonewall put it in breach of the law by failing to show impartiality on transgender rights. Stonewall believes that gender identity should be treated as a protected characteristic and therefore carry legal protection under Equalities Act 2010^

Lol. No, the mother is on a low wage herself, and the girl in question was this morning getting angry about the gunning down of mothers in a maternity unit in Afghanistan. But yeah, I'll take credit for raising her to know her rights and fight for them and others. No problem.

You absolutely should take credit for raising your daughter to grow into such a wonderful, courageous young woman, who fights for her own rights and those of others who aren't so able to, Bigbad Thanks Thanks to her for challenging this for all girls.

Spero · 16/05/2020 16:29

Bigbad - congratulations on your genes, which I guess you didn't have much to do with and also congratulations on the environment in which you raised your daughter - which I am guessing you had a lot to do with.

Maximum respect to her and many thanks.

mcduffy · 16/05/2020 17:15

Made a donation to the campaign. Go the mini bad!

Shedbuilder · 16/05/2020 17:18

BigBad, our thanks to you and your daughter for taking this on. young women like her give me hope!

TRAs are utterly enraged at this news. And accessing adults of being irresponsible in letting a child do this. No, the irresponsible adults are the ones who have allowed this to happen.

I have a teenage dd. She (and her friends) know what's right but they feel very anxious voicing their true opinions. These two girls have given our daughters a voice. They are showing them that their beliefs that boys cannot be girls and their discomfort at agreeing they can are not wrong.

2fallsagain · 16/05/2020 19:28

And thanks for the digging!

HerewardTheWoke · 16/05/2020 19:28

I'm delighted to see this. It's embarrassing to see civil service organisations and senior leaders grovelling in front of Stonewall for their approval.

Cuntysnark · 16/05/2020 19:57

We’ll keep at it 2falls!

TheBigBad · 16/05/2020 20:17

Rage on, TRAs. The girl knows her own mind, is fully committed to making a stand, but is also well protected because everyone involves understands that children and the vulnerable need protection.
The fact that TRAs have mendaciously worked behind the scenes to create a situation where a child must stand up to the institutional bodies taking direction from lobby groups giving wrong advice about the law, is entirely on them.

Don't like a nearly 15yo pointing out that your work puts girls at risk and disadvantage? Don't do it in the first place.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 16/05/2020 20:40

"But he hasn't got anything on," a little child said.

"Did you ever hear such innocent prattle?" said its father. And one person whispered to another what the child had said, "He hasn't anything on. A child says he hasn't anything on."

"But he hasn't got anything on!" the whole town cried out at last.

Cuntysnark · 16/05/2020 20:48

Excellent post Scrimpshaw

ThinEndoftheWedge · 16/05/2020 21:01

TheBigBad.

Can you tell me how to parent? You’ve aced it. Your daughter is extraordinary. Thank you on behalf of me and 3DDs.

SunsetBeetch · 16/05/2020 21:13

The TRAs are unhappy:

"Ok a lawyer costs like £500 PER HOUR. Just who is funding this entirely unassuming 14 YEAR-OLD?

Ah yes, anti-trans organisations with the full back of fundamentalist church groups ✌🏼 "

"I think it might be possible to have this girl declared a vexatious litigant - which carries a number of sanctions for both her and her lawyer. Maybe we should raise a bit of money to have that pursued?

Why are they so angry and afraid?

Shes wrong right ? They dont need to do anything right...

SunsetBeetch · 16/05/2020 21:27

Quite.

NotBadConsidering · 16/05/2020 21:40

They’ve been banking on the hope that no one would have the means, capacity or drive to mount any sort of legal challenge and they could just waltz everything through with barely a whisper. And now it’s a shock to them that people aren’t going to take it lying down, and need to mount an aggressive response to discredit those people ASAP before they lose their grip on all of these institutions.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 16/05/2020 21:45

Yep, Sarah.

BadgertheBodger · 16/05/2020 21:50

BigBad tell your daughter I think she (and you) is fucking fabulous. Brave, brilliant and inspiring Flowers

They have. Oh dear.

The temper tantrum responses aren't a good look. Don't they think that 14 year old girls have the will and determination to stand up for what they believe in? No one has ever told these 'activists' no.
Well I couldn't be prouder of this girl! That is what I call brave.
If the the TRA's continue down their usual path and hound this amazing girl it will truly show them for the bullies that they are.

TheBigBad · 16/05/2020 22:18

It's cool. She knows nothing about frothing bullies on Twitter because she doesn't use it, doesn't care about being accused of being part of a shadowy 'fundamentalist' church group, and is currently getting irritated with some Spanish work she's been sent from school. Not every teenager lives on the internet, she's actually fairly bored with screen time after a few weeks of Friends binges on Netflix in between remote schoolwork on the family laptop, and she dealt with bullying online and off in her old school so she is practised in ignoring people trying to intimidate her.

Thank you all for the lovely comments - she doesn't read them, but she is especially chuffed to hear encouragement that I pass on from the mums who have girls who are similarly frustrated by all this. And honestly - I am no supermum, I'm very, very ordinary and I'm totally sure every woman who has read about these topics for the last few years is making a contribution to the whole of what we are doing.

StandWithYou · 16/05/2020 22:27

Your daughter sounds amazing - thank you for all our daughters.

(Still pissed off that 14 year olds are having to do this though)

It's like they've never heard of Greta Thunberg or Malala Yousafzai.

Fallingirl · 17/05/2020 03:58

Because this is just one person out of a whole school who is complaining. Someone with an mother who is a trans exclusionary radical feminist... probably with a low paid cleaner"

Oh dear. Surely they are not suggesting 14-year-olds don’t know their own minds, that they could possibly be influenced by others around them and shouldn’t be making decisions they are not mature enough to understand?
