More police action over "non crimes"

ProfessorSlocombe · 28/04/2020 15:44

Not directly anything to do with FWR (although there are probably a shed load of doctorates about the social implications of plague treatments and women). But fans of Humberside police will be interested to see that Norfok police are now keeping up the fight against non-crime that threatens to overwhelm us.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-52456180

does this sound vaguely familiar ?

They said no offence had been committed, but officers were "keen to trace the individual in order to provide words of advice about the implications of his actions on the local community".

RuffleCrow don't be stupid. They are an example of someone dressed in black all over and YOU are the one with the deep seated issues here.

I assume you have reported me saying that though right? lol

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 28/04/2020 19:10

There are people running around in rubber dinosaur outfits too, among other thing, which some kids might find scary

Shark running down our road the other day

LastTrainEast · 28/04/2020 19:11

I'm loving the dinosaurs and sharks. Why don't we get that kind of thing here?

RuffleCrow · 28/04/2020 19:15

Don't project your stupidity my way @lasttraineast - it's probably what's scaring off all the sharks and dinosaurs you're apparently so desperate to see Hmm. If you want to laugh about making racially charged comments thats your lookout.

donquixotedelamancha · 28/04/2020 19:19

That's pretty offensive in itself.

That seems rather ironic from your previous contributions. You still don't seem to want to clarify why certain skin colour(s) make people think the entire world revolves around their cocks and love nothing more than being able to drag unsuspecting bystanders into it

Assuming you aren't racist would it not be better to accept that you misspoke and we have no idea who this was or why she was in costume. Your defensive responses are not working.

hoodathunkit · 28/04/2020 19:20

I don't understand why so many posters have jumped to conclusions about the motives of this person

It could be someone who is wearing a mask stuffed with various herbs and perfumes items they believe will prevent them getting the virus. A plage doctor costume is really just an old skool version of PPE

If people are silly enough to consider drinking bleach then it is unsurprising that someone might consider a plague doctor costume might be protective against a virus?

In fatc it may provide better protection, depending on how it is constructed, than normal dress. A bit hot thought I would have thought

ElizaCrouch · 28/04/2020 19:21

are you saying women in burkas look like plague doctors @lasttraineast?! That's pretty offensive in itself

😂 Talk about twisting things.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 28/04/2020 19:21

Maybe you should have said priests lasttrain

Or nuns

Goosefoot · 28/04/2020 19:21

That's lovely that you think autistic children can be educated out of meltdowns when presented with someone/something terrifying @goosefoot. I'm looking forward to a) reading that research and b) hearing how you'll personally be implementing it on a practical level with all the autistic people in the greater Norwich area. Marvellous

There are things which are scary to all kinds of kids. A plague doctor is not more likely to be scary than many other costumes. Some kids are scared of clowns, or T-rexes. Yet no one is getting in touch with them to stop going around the town to protect autistic kids.

hoodathunkit · 28/04/2020 19:23

This postman, though well intentioned, might frighten some - he was wearing a scary clown outfit at one point IMMIC

RuffleCrow · 28/04/2020 19:24

Nah. You carry on with your defensiveness on behalf of the white man in question if you like. I'll just link you his EDP mugshot when the time comes. Watch this space.

Goosefoot · 28/04/2020 19:24

I used to know a lady who wore a burka who was mistaken once for a Jedi. Also potentially scary.

Gronky · 28/04/2020 19:26

Also potentially scary.

To Sith?

LastTrainEast · 28/04/2020 19:27

RufustheLanglovingreindeer Yeah, I thought nuns, but they don't cover enough of their faces. Personally I don't think you can beat the humble hoodie for scariness when worn by someone watching you walk by on a deserted street.

LastTrainEast · 28/04/2020 19:28

"potentially scary - To Sith?" has me cracking up here. My eyes are watering. Grin

ElizaCrouch · 28/04/2020 19:28

behalf of the white man in question if you like

What on earth does the colour of his skin have to do with it?

donquixotedelamancha · 28/04/2020 19:28

You carry on with your defensiveness on behalf of the white man in question if you like. I'll just link you his EDP mugshot when the time comes.

What would that prove? I agree that in Norfolk it's very likely to be a white bloke.

My question was why you thought that warranted more urgent police action and and why you thought skin colour caused the wearing of this outfit.

I will freely admit to being 'defensive' of the idea that skin colour does not determine behaviour- that myth was dispelled many years ago but the ideology it spawned continues to cause harm.

RuffleCrow · 28/04/2020 19:29

Yes priests, nuns and women in burkas are all known for running around in 17th century bird masks @RufustheLanglovingreindeer Hmm it really could have been any of them

hoodathunkit · 28/04/2020 19:31

To Sith?

mwahahahahah

on form Star

RuffleCrow · 28/04/2020 19:40

Several centuries of colonial rule would seem to indicate otherwise @donquixote. Not because of their skin colour or sex, but because of the sense of dominance and entitlement that comes with being white and male culturally.

Most women in Hellesdon will be either preoccupied with caring responsibilities right now or in key worker roles. It's that kind of place . Most older people round there just aren't going to do something like that. You have to understand the general character of the older generation here to know why.

The very few people from ethnic minorities here generally just keep their heads down and get on with life. They're not about to go out and make enemies by provoking people that way. Especially not now.

The maxim "carry yourself with the confidence of a mediocre white man" could have been the caption for the photo.

Goosefoot · 28/04/2020 19:42

To Sith?

Yes, or naughty children. Or it could be a Sith, maybe, if it was black.

Some of the headdresses nuns used to wear were kind of scary, those starched ones that look like birds are stuck to their heads.

Of course it's about context really, if you don't know what something is it could be scary just because it's strange. Which could be a lot of things for a child.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 28/04/2020 19:50

Where on earth did I mention bird masks

Last was obviously trying to think of people who wear black floor length ‘dresses‘ and i was helping

Just cos you’re pissed off with last doesn’t mean you can take it out on me with your humphy face

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 28/04/2020 19:52

Yeah, I thought nuns, but they don't cover enough of their faces

Good point

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 28/04/2020 19:53

Did they ever find that IT clown person

🤡

That was fucking scary...clowns are scary

Goosefoot · 28/04/2020 20:06

Although you know with clowns, the ones with grotesque faces are usually fairly affable if dumb. It's the ones with the pretty, neatly done faces that are usually devious and untrustworthy.
