Labour reject Karen Ingala-Smith's membership application

James Kirkup in The Spectator

www.spectator.co.uk/article/labour-s-bizarre-decision-to-bar-the-founder-of-counting-dead-women

"In a letter dated March 24th, the Governance and Legal Unit at Labour HQ informed Ingala-Smith that she was not welcome in the party:

‘The information brought to our attention is that you have engaged in conduct online that may reasonably be seen to demonstrate hostility based on gender identity.

Your application for membership of the Labour party has therefore been rejected.’

The letter does not observe any due process by telling Ingala-Smith what the evidence used against her might be, of course. So no one beyond Labour HQ knows what Ingala-Smith has done to ‘demonstrate hostility based on gender identity’, whatever that means."

The Labour party has become an irrelevance. Jeremy Corbyn has, even, now descended to claiming that the financial measures put in place to support the population, as a result of the coronavirus epidemic, are a 'victory' for Socialism and the Labour party

That was a corker wasn't it?

Just go away Jeremy. Nobody cares what you have to say about anything.

It's pure Marx. ....Groucho, that is.

"I wouldn't want to join a Party that would have someone like me as a member."

DidoLamenting · 27/03/2020 20:05

I thought expelling Trevor Phillips was a new low but the Labour Party just keeps on giving.

ListeningQuietly · 27/03/2020 20:09

I feel so sad that one minority ideology has taken over a mainstream party to the detriment of so many.

I still have my fingers and toes crossed that Keir will be able to row the party back from this insanity under the convenient cover of Covid
but by golly he's going to need thick skin.

Toseland · 27/03/2020 20:54

But Keir has hidden his stance has he not? He should be asked about it?

ListeningQuietly · 27/03/2020 21:00

Toseland
Keir is a Human Rights barrister who made his name on the McLibel case
he will not answer questions
but I inherently trust his judgement

Labour ban founder of Counting Dead Women for being able to define who she is counting

In a nutshell. The whole insane and sorry mess. My only question is why she would want to go near the zombie corpse of what used to be the Labour Party.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 28/03/2020 07:20

Did they want her to call it Counting Dead People Who Sometimes Wear Lipstick?

If they were elected they'd be answerable to the public, so of course they don't want that. I think Starmer does, but if he wins the leadership who knows if he'll be able to get anything done with the rest of the party kneecapping anyone rude enough to make a suggestion that might appeal to anyone outside their bubble.

Also a history of her clashes with those within the left over her gender critical beliefs including an incident which is yet unreported (I belive) incident kicking off her disquiet.

Also for those following the labour party leadership campaign check out her take on Kier Starmer - who represented her (for free) during the McLibel case"

Thank you R0wan
Very interesting to hear the perspective of somebody who spent a fair bit of time dealing with him.

I still have my fingers and toes crossed that he will undo some of the damage done by magic grandpa.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 28/03/2020 10:59

Much as was the case with Trevor Phillips, I don't want to be part of a political party that has no place in it for Karen Ingala Smith. In this case I am very much judging people by the company they keep and the company they reject.

Cuntysnark · 28/03/2020 11:19

Helen Steel is incredible. I’ve listened to DJLippy’s podcast before but it’s still worth a repeated visit. Thank whatever you’re deity is that there’s women like her. And it’s quite a list.

Labour ban founder of Counting Dead Women for being able to define who she is counting

There are no words really.

It'd be funny if it wasn't.

Labour showing us once again that they are the party for the men, not for you.

TedsFederationRep · 29/03/2020 08:46

Their new party slogan should be "Who Cares Who Wins".

Lordfrontpaw · 29/03/2020 08:49

Not ‘we’re having a laugh’?

HorseRadishFemish · 29/03/2020 08:50

Nice one! Lols chez horse...

DrudgeJedd · 29/03/2020 11:08

I've just seen that one of the people behind the Labour trans pledge has been cancelled online & reported to compliance for having a zoom chat with a Tory MP.
What a bunch of sociopaths, I don't think Starmer can make this party electable again, I doubt anyone can in its present form.

DidoLamenting · 29/03/2020 11:16

Any more details DrudgeJedd?

testing987654321 · 29/03/2020 11:23

This is not how democracy can or should work.

The majority of Labour Party members seem to prioritise transgender ideology over being able to define women.

That's ridiculous and they won't get my vote until they change.

But the idea that we get a gender critical leader by stealth is even more ridiculous. This argument must be heard in public.

TedsFederationRep · 29/03/2020 11:41

In any case, if Keir Starmer wins the leadership - and the majority of the postal votes will be in by now so the result will already be known to some in the Party - there is every chance he will offer a place on the front bench to his rivals, Rebecca Long-Bailey and Lisa Nandy, where they will be in a position to influence future party policy.

RLB and LN have already decided on the definition of "woman" and it has nothing to do with biological reality. They have already slandered WPUK and LGB Alliance as hate groups too, even if RLB - a lawyer, FGS - later claimed she didn't recall signing up to that.

New Labour Party policy will not differ from old Labour Party policy in that respect.

A woman's place is wherever he wants it to be.

DrudgeJedd · 29/03/2020 11:45

Not really Dido just the usual wokescolds on Twitter turning on one of their own. Person was press officer or similar I think. They post a lot of really creepy sexualised things about female MPs which was completely fine apparently, but talking to Dehenna Davison is the line that mustn't be crossed. You'd need a heart of stone not to laugh. These are the people that Lisa Nandy etc defer to about women's rights but Karen Ingala Smith is a no-no? Give me strength.

ListeningQuietly · 29/03/2020 21:38

Testing
At the moment Keir is a candidate
he can say and do nothing about what goes on at Labour HQ

Teds
If you think that RLB and LN will get on Keir's front bench based on their Corbyn era performance I think and hope that you are in for a shock.

KS needs to put together the best Front Bench to hold Johnson to account.
Inner Labour factions are dust in that situation
