Brilliant satire!

So very true SonEtLumiere

RuffleCrow · 15/03/2020 16:49

Thank you for sharing - this has really cheered me up and made me lol.

RuffleCrow · 15/03/2020 16:52

Ten times stronger than everyone else you know @TransWoman?! Blimey - they'll definitely be needing their own sporting categories. And the NHS needn't disturb them if they get coronavirus. Fair enough.

Thinkingaboutit I am a very soft spoken person so I didn't go about my new glittery 70's New Age philosophy in an aggressive way. In fact, the only adult I was ever rude to was my mother; and that was because, while being a very outspoken feminist, she was way ahead of her time and gave me a free rein. I had a very liberal upbringing. She was aware that I and my friends smoked pot in my room downstairs and didn't object. She allowed me everything -- and I was SO horrible to her! Such a know-it-all, even though she was way ahead of her time. I look back in shame.

...and most of us in the end sorted ourselves out and became super conventional, with jobs and paying taxes and mortgages and nuclear families! Grin
As this generation of blue-hairs also will.

And yet non-binary people think you are a hate group

I only know one person who calls themselves non-binary, a younger relative. They think that anyone who doesn't agree that they are simply the most incredibly special person in the whole world, with a range of feelings that no human has ever experienced before, literally hates them and wishes they were dead. So of course they think we're a hate group. Anyone who doesn't indulge them is a hate group.

mouldyoldonkey · 15/03/2020 19:54

Actively mocking a whole subset of people is hardly simply disagreeing though is it?

JayAlfredPrufrock · 15/03/2020 20:00

Subset of people 😂

mouldyoldonkey · 15/03/2020 20:04

Why is that funny? Have I misdefined subset?

JayAlfredPrufrock · 15/03/2020 20:10

Probs not. Just love the idea.

YouJustDoYou · 15/03/2020 21:19

Oh, that article!! 😂

FloralBunting · 15/03/2020 21:32

I haven't read it, but mocking a self defining group of pseuds is pretty standard fare in humour and I don't think that will end soon.

littlbrowndog · 15/03/2020 22:45

Lols at the non binary. People 😂

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/03/2020 22:51

The horror! People who think the world revolves around them to be mocked!

Thinkingabout1t · 16/03/2020 00:23

I loved those days, Lamahaha but I too look back with shame at some bits. Especially my almost supernatural patience in teensplaining politics to people with decades more experience of the world. I just hope I didn’t actually bore anyone to death ...

StrangeLookingParasite · 16/03/2020 00:45

And yet non-binary people think you are a hate group.

Wonder why.

Nearly all of who will never have been here and rely on what they're told.

DrySnitch · 16/03/2020 12:42

What, like when men try to emulate womanhood by reducing us to a handful of sexist stereotypes?

ooooohbetty · 16/03/2020 12:47

That is really funny

midclegs · 16/03/2020 13:07

Look at me, look at me!

Slightly uncomfortable (which is what good satire is for) but it made me laugh.

RuffleCrow · 16/03/2020 13:27

They're not a subset of people in any meaningful sense. They're exactly like the rest of us - they just give their entirely normal reservations about gender stereotypes a special name Grin

Pebbles574 · 16/03/2020 13:41

Funnily enough I said to DSs (20 and 17)last night that I was planning to identify as a 19 year-old female with no underlying health conditions for the rest of this year.

DS2 rolled his eyes and said, "That's not how it works, Mum..."

"Exactly..." I replied.

FloralBunting · 16/03/2020 13:44

I still haven't read it, because I think it's probably redundant - I have read and watched quite a bit of content from NB people themselves, and it really doesn't need to be satirized - you engage with it with a permanent furrowed brow because it's both extremely undefined as a concept, and profoundly self regarding to the point where if you don't see the ridiculous, pompous nonsense for what it is, straight from the horses mouth, I can't see satire making it any clearer to you.

Having said that, I am still tickled by this idea that ridiculous, pretentious people shouldn't be mocked. Is this why wokesters have no discernable sense of humour? Because they see pretentious bollocks and think it absolutely has to be taken seriously?

NonnyMouse1337 · 16/03/2020 13:54

Exactly. Smile
