To protest for women's spaces.

That looks to be a good turn out. Well done everyone.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 07/03/2020 16:46

It was a good day. A vocal minority of rainbow haired heckling kids didn't spoil it.

Well done everyone. I couldn’t make it because I was at work but hopefully I’ll be at the next one.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 07/03/2020 16:50

That big hat woman was amazing. Was she from For Women Scotland?

Gutted to have missed it - sadly I had a prior commitment.

MadamePewter · 07/03/2020 18:14

I didn’t make it as I am a numpty and had got it in my head it was tomorrow...😳

Well done everyone.. I’ll keep an eye out for the next one

NotTerfNorCis · 07/03/2020 18:46

Well done everyone.

goodthinking99 · 07/03/2020 18:50

Great to see the pics on twitter, thanks to everyone who was there. And for every one person at the demo there's a small crowd who couldn't be there because job security worries and/or caring responsibilities...the latter disproportionately undertaken by women, and grown ups.

Heshehe · 07/03/2020 18:55

It was fab! Haven’t been to a protest for years. Felt so good to hear bloody good common sense being spoken out loud, unabashed. Well done ForWomen Scot - you did us proud Smile

Sexnotgender · 07/03/2020 18:59

Great turn out, I spent most of my time handing out leaflets- spoke to loads of people who were just aghast that this was happening. So few people are aware. Plenty of people will hopefully be going home to fill out the consultation. I had several people ask for extra leaflets to give their friends.

Also had a good laugh at the counter protest 😂

Nicely done women. Saw this poster on Twitter which I completely agree with.

@marvellousnightforamooncup @ItsAllGoingToBeFine that was me in the big hat. Thank you!

Murraygoldberg · 07/03/2020 19:14

Great afternoon, really glad I went, the trans protesters were not much of an advert for their cause. If any of the young protesters were my kids I would be very concerned about the middle age bearded man who was with them

Sexnotgender · 07/03/2020 19:28

Aye, beardy man was certainly a concern.

Form1ess · 07/03/2020 19:42

Hi Mbwashenzi I walked to the carpark with you.
What a great turn out for a quickly arranged demo. Beardy bloke trying to shout down the women speakers was an embarrassment. It must've been a shock for the TRAs to see how easily we out number them.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 07/03/2020 20:46

Does anyone know who beardy bloke was? He seemed very incongruous amongst all of the young people.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 07/03/2020 21:02

Mbwashenzi, you rock!

Mbwashenzi

that was me in the big hat. Thank you!

Is there any way you could post your speech? - it was so so good and deserves a wider audience...

morningtoncrescent62 · 07/03/2020 21:22

What a brilliant afternoon, full of positive energy, and possibly the friendliest demo I've ever attended. I was on my own which is fine with me, I do lots of things alone, but it's always nice when people are up for having a chat which everyone was. There were some great speeches, and Mbwashenzi blew us all away with her diatribe against Patrick Harvie and the designation 'cis'.

As for the TRAs, I can't imagine why they think their rude and agressive signs (I'm sure my post would be deleted if I said what they were) will make us more inclined to welcome them into our spaces. Beardy bloke attempting to drown out women with his megaphone and bevvy of adoring young supporters wasn't a good look.

And for every one person at the demo there's a small crowd who couldn't be there because job security worries and/or caring responsibilities...the latter disproportionately undertaken by women, and grown ups.

Absolutely, and I was pleased that one of the speakers said so at the end of her speech.

morningtoncrescent62 · 07/03/2020 21:25

Joining in the chorus asking for Mbwashenzi to post her speech. Would ForWomen put it on their website? It won't be the same as watching you delivering it (which was electrifying) but I agree it needs to have a much, much bigger audience.

littlbrowndog · 07/03/2020 21:27

Looked great. You lot owning it

Babysitting good fo4 older 2 kids. No one could take my youngest erm who can be a bit feisty boy.

Maybe I could have brought him. 😣😔

littlbrowndog · 07/03/2020 21:28

You lot all over twitter. 🥰🥰

TheTiaraManager · 07/03/2020 21:36

Well done everyone!

Sexnotgender · 07/03/2020 22:00

Someone has mentioned on twitter that beardy bloke might be a university staffer?

definitelygc · 07/03/2020 22:19

Jeez that is one of the most sad counter-protests I've ever seen. The aggressive, badly written signs, the 1000 yard stares, the beardy bloke twice their age shepherding them all. As PP said, I can't imagine a much worse advertisement for their side of the debate. It seems the turning tide is washing the rainbow-glitter away and showing this ideology for what it really is.
