I’m a trainee teacher and university have had Barnados in twice now to deliver their Gender Identity training to us all.
The first time it was about the Genderbread person and how we should look at people’s gender as opposed to sex.
The second time it was a bit of the same. They also read out some statements and had us moving across the room as to whether we agreed or disagreed with the statement. If you were on the “wrong” side then you were asked to explain your opinion. Things like “should children be allowed hormone blockers”. We’ve been told that women have to be called ciswomen and to be perfectly honest, I felt very uncomfortable with what was being said. I can’t quite put my finger on why - I think it’s because I’m an adult and I have my own experiences and knowledge about it all, but if they’re doing this presentation to kids then surely it’s brainwashing them? I just want to be a woman not cis anything.
Has anyone else had this Barnados training? I thought they helped abused children.
