Article in the Times including a snort making comment about Layla Moran's soul gazing abilities.

My first attempt at a share token so I hope it works.

Janice Turner is bloody brilliant!

ThinEndoftheWedge · 14/02/2020 19:20

Janice - you are a star!!

HumphreyCobblers · 14/02/2020 19:22

Really really so grateful to you Janice.

Freespeecher · 14/02/2020 19:29

Good article by Turner. Interesting to see her write about purity spirals, previously mentioned here.

(Suzanne Moore does write for the Graun but, to her credit, will frequently wander off the reservation. Nothing more boring than being a paper's woman writer / BAME writer / gay writer etc).

TheRealMcKenna · 14/02/2020 19:29

That’s a brilliant article.

I think the tide is turning. It’s too late for all but Starmer with his watered down commitment, but I really doubt the Tories will pursue self-ID given the current coverage.

HavelockVetinari · 14/02/2020 19:33

Absolutely brilliant article, well done Janice if you're reading. Your articles are the reason I subscribe to The Times.

hoteltango · 14/02/2020 20:07

Wonderful article. Thanks for posting it TheRattleBag.

This bit:

Working on the 2019 Labour manifesto, Lachlan Stuart observed that LGBT activists were not “driven by a motivation to improve the quality of life for trans people” such as increased mental and physical health provision, only “to erode or erase the political rights of female people.” Their alarming central goal was to open up all female single-sex spaces to anyone who identified as a woman.

...says it all. That's exactly what it's all about. TRAs aren't about supporting transexuals - they just like women-bashing.

ChattyLion · 14/02/2020 20:10

Janice Turner please be my Valentine.

boatyardblues · 14/02/2020 20:11

I love Janice too. She nails it every time.

This thread has a link to Lachlan Stuart's (long, bit difficult to read, but interesting) Medium article.

Coyoacan · 14/02/2020 20:41

Brilliant article, Janice. As I'm hetero, I'm take Lachlan Stuart for my one and only, because that is exactly what is happening.

All these trans organisations have so much money but they do zilch about campaigning for or provising adequate health provision, refuges etc. for transpeople

teawamutu · 14/02/2020 20:43

They really don't, do they? No campaigning for third spaces, or trans specialist refuges, or trans sports competitions, or anything. Just shout and threaten till they take women's stuff away.

aliasundercover · 14/02/2020 20:52

Good work once again Janice Turner.

Re: Suzanne Moore
She's kept her head down for the last 5 or 6 years since this:
www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/suzanne-moore-apologises-to-transgender-community-1533986
The same incident led to Julie Burchill being sacked from The Guardian.

Michelleoftheresistance · 14/02/2020 20:54

Very clear and well explained article. The comments are as interesting and to the point as the article; the days are past where articles had a lot of 'yawn, student politics, uppity women getting what they deserve for wanting equality' responses. Readers are getting it, they're well informed and they're angry. Increasing mention of 'the time for being polite is over'. I do agree.

aliasundercover · 14/02/2020 20:57

Here's a good column from Burchill talking about the incident:

marvellousnightforamooncup · 14/02/2020 21:00

OMG Suzanne Moore's piece, amazing. I'm so pleased she's not gone Guardian woke.

I've turned away from Labour over this. The one thing that comforts me on this issue is it's likely to be a gift to the RW press to bash Labour and SNP with. The election has shown how effective this is. Also it's batshit and most voters know it.

I hope this shit dies soon. I want to go back to my comfy lefty slippers. I liked a tweet by Toby Young today about Harry Miller. Toby Young! FFS!

littlbrowndog · 14/02/2020 21:02

Janice

You fucking rock 👏💪💪💪💪

Melroses · 14/02/2020 21:34

Janice is such an eloquent writer. I love her Grin

Antibles · 14/02/2020 21:36

Star for you Janice as always.

Lamahaha · 14/02/2020 22:07

Sorry if it's been posted before: Debbie Hayton in the Evening Standard

LizzieSiddal · 14/02/2020 22:14

It’s brilliant to have all these published articles.

Love the way Janice isn’t afraid to name, names.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 14/02/2020 22:23

Extremely interesting part from Lachlan Stuart. Which we all know and can see, but good to have him confirm it.

Janice is wonderful.

tobee · 14/02/2020 23:46

It's a great article but I think now is the time for writers to underscore that this is dressed up as TRA when it's nakedly MRA. Then it all becomes crystal clear

midclegs · 14/02/2020 23:58

I'm reading I stand with Kate Scottow via the Spectator app app.spectator.co.uk/2020/02/14/i-stand-with-kate-scottow/content.html

And another great article. I am loving the clear, rational articles that have come out today. Not so loving your treatment Kate S. Hopefully people and level-headed politicians have been reading these articles and will start to think clearly.

MsSafina · 15/02/2020 10:25

What puzzles me is why politicians are pivoting to an issue which is a massive vote loser not only among conservative voters but liberal voters too.
