And now concerns raised in Ireland (with direct Tavi links) over adolescent care re gender dysphoria

Lots of concerns here, including

“ However, the issues raised and calls by the doctors for the service to be "terminated with immediate effect" were omitted from draft minutes of the meeting.”

And

“ In a statement, Dr Moran said they were concerned some patients they were seeing, who had been started on hormone treatment in Crumlin, did not appear to be suitable or ready for such treatment, and appeared to have mental health problems that had not been identified or addressed.

He said that for many children on hormones, there was no documented report or assessment by Tavistock, and where these were available, they were not sufficiently detailed and not a sound basis for a treatment recommendation. "There was usually no clear record of how or when the decision to commence treatment was made," he said.”

At some point all this will come to a head.

Which would mean they are a Safeguarding risk.

Its demonstrating a Safeguarding framework failure.

terfsandwich · 04/02/2020 19:07

Peter is currently the Senior Expert for Sexual Orientation of the European Equality Law Network

But otherwise does not mention any work on LGB matters. It's all about the T.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/02/2020 20:38

And Peter Dunne, as we know, thinks objecting to bepenised males getting naked in female changing rooms is exactly like rejecting women with mastectomy scars.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 05/02/2020 02:18

Pleased to gather my amateur understanding of the safeguarding risks is not askew. Thanks, R0wantrees.

pachyderm · 05/02/2020 08:30

TENI employs people in key roles with no qualifications in psychology, child development, education or medicine, yet who are advising government departments, schools, universities, prisons and the health service. They give talks in workplaces advising them that women have no right to privacy or dignity. Their influence has led to a complete trashing of the safeguarding mechanisms that took years and painful experience to put in place in this country. Women and girls will suffer greatly. We already have rapists allowed in women's prisons and girls forced to share their school toilets with boys. Recent events to celebrate extraordinary Irish women and their history were hijacked by utterly mediocre males whose only achievement in life has been to steal from women.

They are on the board of the National Womens Council of Ireland and have centred themselves in gay rights orgs and a support group for intersex people. It's basically Mermaids and they are, for the moment, untouchable. They deleted a lot of stuff from their website recently- advice for young people to get a helpful adult to lend you their credit card to buy your binders. And they put on a show by Alok last year, even after his creepy "little girls" scandal. They're a men's rights organisation and are a danger to women and kids.

This thread is just terrifying. Sorry I’ve got nothing useful to add, I’m agog.

DuchessDumbarton · 05/02/2020 19:08

These are TENI's suggestions of what to ask prospective candidates in the general election:

Implement full gender recognition for all, so that non-binary people and under-18s can get identifying documents in their correct gender

Ensure appropriate, accessible and timely healthcare for trans people; care that is person-centred and based on international best practice

Introduce hate crime legislation, so that we all feel safer from hateful attacks

My teeth are gnashing as I read this

pachyderm · 05/02/2020 19:16

It's particularly sickening that they are dominated by older late transitioners. Not only do they have no relevant formal training or qualifications, they have no experience or understanding of the lives of girls and women, whose rights they are steamrolling over.

IchbineinBerlinner · 05/02/2020 19:25

I'd really like to let people know that the DCU summer camps for talented youth are akin to a training camp for trans. I meet way too many ROGD kids who became trans as a result of this camp in my work

3timeslucky · 05/02/2020 19:29

How can you possibly produce gender documentation for individuals whose gender identities are not fixed and wander about over time? This seems to be particularly the case for younger people, who would at one time have been seen as teens working out who they are but now want it documented and presumably changed as their gender identity changes?

3timeslucky · 05/02/2020 19:33

And to boot, the older late transitioners all seem to be MtF from a quick glance. I didn't notice anyone identify as a transman, though there's a "non-binary trans masculine person" but I don't even know what that means. And there's a smattering of non-binary kids. One of the bios sounds like a cry for help rather than a bio. It is really disturbing stuff.

Jennifer Bilek's recent article refers to international funding for TENI:

'THE BILLIONAIRES BEHIND THE LGBT MOVEMENT'
(extract)
"Prior to 2015, Stryker had already built the political infrastructure to drive gender identity ideology and transgenderism across the globe, donating millions to small and large entities. These included hundreds of thousands of dollars to ILGA, an LGBT organization for equality in Europe and Central Asia with 54 countries participating, and Transgender Europe, a voice for the trans community in Europe and Asia with 43 countries participating (Transgender Europe has also funded smaller organizations like TENI, Transgender Equality Network Ireland).

In 2008 Arcus founded Arcus Operating Foundation, an arm of the foundation that organizes conferences, leadership programs, and research publications. At one 2008 meeting in Bellagio, Italy, 29 international leaders committed to expanding global philanthropy to support LGBT rights. At the meeting, along with Stryker and Ise Bosch, founder of Dreilinden Fund in Germany, was Michael O’Flaherty—one of the rapporteurs for the Yogyakarta Principles on the Application of International Human Rights Law in Relation to Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (principles outlined in Indonesia in 2006). With the Yogyakarta Principles, the seeds were planted to bring in and attach gender-identity ideology to our legal structures. O’Flaherty has been an elected member of the United Nations Human Rights Committee since 2004." (continues)

I’m glad there are so many amazing women on this board who do tirelessly join the dots between individuals and networks and organisations, but at the same time it’s absolutely petrifying. The reach they have is astonishing.

pachyderm · 05/02/2020 22:26

3timeslucky yes, all male people. I'm reluctant to name names because they'll be all over this screenshotting and rounding up the flying monkeys on Twitter but the most prominent are such classic AGPs it's laugable people can't see it. And as they are actually straight they should be nowhere near the LGB.

pachyderm · 05/02/2020 22:26

2015 “IT’S TIME TO HEAR OUR VOICES”
National Trans Youth Forum Report
by Peter Dunne & Cearbhall Turraoin

(extract)
"The first ever National Trans Youth Forum (‘the Forum’) took place at Trinity College Dublin and Youth Services on July 15, 2015.
The event was attended by 55 young persons from all parts of the country, and was intended to create a platform for discussing the legal, social and political issues which affect trans youth in modern Ireland.

The Forum was initiated as a Trinity College Dublin Equality Fund (‘the Fund’) programme, and was a joint partnership between four organisations: The Fund, Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI), BeLonGTo Youth Services (‘BeLonGTo’) and the Irish Transgender Student’ Alliance (ITSA).

In addition, the Forum received generous financial support from ILGA-Europe. In parallel with the National Trans Youth Forum, the Organising Committee, co-ordinated by TENI, circulated
an online National Trans Youth Survey (‘the Survey’) during the month before and after the Forum. The Survey was completed by 161
young people and, with the permission of TENI, the results, where relevant, are reproduced in this report." (continues)

The primary author was Peter Dunne, with significant input
from Cearbhall Turraoin.

Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI) was a central pillar in organising the National Trans Youth Forum. The Forum is the brainchild of Board Member, Simon Blanckensee, whose energy and passion for advancing youth equality have been an inspiration throughout. The authors are extremely grateful for the support and advice (and the sheer number of hours) that the TENI staff and
board dedicated to this project. Board member, Lee Jollans, has been present since the first planning meeting, and was hugely generous
in structuring the Forum day, suggesting nuanced discussion questions, and acting as moderator for the Over18 event. The Organising Committee was also very lucky to benefit from the input of Board Member, Sam Blanckensee, during the initial planning stages. Sam’s advice and encouragement were greatly appreciated, and the Forum was much enhanced because of Sam’s participation. Working in consultation with TENI, Oscar James authored a parallel report on the results of the online survey. Oscar’s report is an impressive, highly significant body of work, and we were so grateful to be able to draw from its findings" (continues)

@IchbineinBerlinner sorry to @ you but your comment about the summer camps struck a chord of recognition due to something I came across while peripherally involved with that programme last summer.
I was uber-patronised by a young organiser man who "validated my feelings" but did not actually respond to my complaint queries at all.

And, of course, so many of the teens on those summer camps are "twice exceptional" so may have other issues with which they struggle.

3timeslucky · 06/02/2020 14:26

pachyderm, I guess they gotta get their kicks where they can ...

I did a disservice to one of the members whose picture I'd missed but who was born female ... but like you say the male, and male AGP make-up is notable. It must be hard to be a young gay person finding your way in Ireland when LGB/sexuality has been hijacked by T/identity crises/kink.

Annasgirl · 06/02/2020 14:40

I had someone say to me yesterday 'isn't being gay and gender fluid all the same sort of thing, you know, who you are attracted to is like on a spectrum ......

A well educated middle class mum of teens with lots of gay and lesbian family members and one trans family friend - I tried to break down the differences between sexuality and gender for her with out sounding too "Doh", but when people who have interacted with these communities get it so, so wrong, what hope have we of educating the masses to the issues?

3timeslucky · 06/02/2020 19:21

Is there any kickback from the gay community here? You'd think that would piss them off as well as worry them.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 06/02/2020 19:52

I think there has been such a swing from the "old Ireland" conservative, Church ways that anything superficially progressive is welcomed unquestioningly.

pachyderm · 06/02/2020 21:38

3times I do know some lesbians who are very concerned. The self-promoting ones (again no names but you can guess!) are happy to throw women under the bus unfortunately.

ludog · 07/02/2020 14:28

My daughter is bi and very much veers towards the woke end of the spectrum. We've an uneasy truce around talking about these issues. However, she recently admitted that as a GNC child she might well have felt she should have been a boy but her dad and I were not at all bothered that she wasn't as girly as her sister and actively encouraged her to play football ( I think dh was reliving his own youth through her footballing tbh!). It's terrifying that she may have been sucked into this madness. The younger LGBT community appear to be very hostile to any view in any way at odds with the party line of TWAW.
