What was deleted?

You can PM if you want but this is getting disturbing first we lost lang now safeguarding threads deleted?

slipperywhensparticus · 31/01/2020 08:09

This is no longer a place where we can speak

Binterested · 31/01/2020 08:11

They said it was because it was a taat. But it wasn’t. It was asking for guidance on what we can and can’t say.

Binterested · 31/01/2020 08:12

About drag.

SarahTancredi · 31/01/2020 08:13

Well they dont seen to care theres dozens of threads about wHt to buy at aldi. Seems it only applies when theres important things to discuss..

GiveHerHellFromUs · 31/01/2020 08:13

Well we should be allowed to say whatever we like as long as it's not offensive. And even then they allow offensive threads to start as long as there's 'balanced debate'

  • this is something I learned this week.

And when I say offensive I mean actually offensive, not offensive to a snowflake.

SarahTancredi · 31/01/2020 08:17

We cant talk about drag now?

But a drag queen very recently released a video message telling parents to please not expose your kids to this it's not suitable...

rogdmum · 31/01/2020 08:22

Sarah Yes, Kitty, I think the name was? It was on Twitter. Maybe someone could start a thread linking to that video and lead on from there?

SarahTancredi · 31/01/2020 08:24

I'll see if I can find it. But some clarification about what's allowed as bin says , would be helpful. Especially as u cant sneeze on the feminism.board without someone reporting

HandsOffMyLangCleg · 31/01/2020 08:32

I was on that drag thread and have raised my concerns over its deletion on two other threads. It was removed in record-breaking speed.

Safeguarding red flags were raised and then @MNHQ zapped the thread.

And after Lang, this led me to conclude that yes, child safeguarding is deliberately being wiped out on here by mods.

HandsOffMyLangCleg · 31/01/2020 08:39

I believe it was zapped because it was pointed out that:

A) A sex offender was part of Dragtime Storytime. Evidenced with a news source: www.newsweek.com/sex-offender-busted-drag-queen-who-read-book-children-city-library-1365384

B) Grown men are teaching small children to twerk: www.theblaze.com/news/drag-queen-shows-children-how-to-twerk-during-story-hour

And
C) There are serious concerns over a 12 year old boy who dresses in drag and dances in clubs for money, Desmond is Amazing

SarahTancredi · 31/01/2020 08:42

Could this be in relation to the new cps guidance that's been uploaded in that it's now apparent that safeguarding is non existent now? Is it some mass cover up?

NotBadConsidering · 31/01/2020 08:48

Generally I’ve found that threads are removed when people cast aspersions on tv parents. If facts are posted without comment it reduces the risk of removal.

Desmond has a Wikipedia page:

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desmond_Napoles

Findumdum1 · 31/01/2020 08:51

The Desmond is Amazing Kiwi Farms entry is illuminating and horrifying. He is clearly in an abusive situation and his sister agrees.

HandsOffMyLangCleg · 31/01/2020 08:55

The subjects were posted as above, so no great detail, mainly links.

What I did notice though was a common tactic to close down safeguarding talk (Tracy from SSA mentioned this red flag in her video with Posie yesterday)

One poster was trying to accuse those with safeguarding concerns over overtly sexualised performances in front of children as being - wait for it - homophobic. Confused

ErrolTheDragon · 31/01/2020 08:57

Maybe threads which are primarily about safeguarding of children should be posted somewhere other than FWR. It's not a specifically feminist issue and surely there should be somewhere else suitable on a parenting website. If there isn't then maybe there should be.

ErrolTheDragon · 31/01/2020 09:25

It's interesting reading the comments, one person says they think the intent was to "humanise" drag queens so that kids aren't scared when they meet one in public.

If that's the aim then why not stick to showing kids the nonsexualised drag acts we grew up with - Danny la Rue and pantomime dames?

langclegflavoredbananamush · 31/01/2020 09:48

Meanwhile in America, according to this tweet, public schools are bringing classes of first graders to Drag Queen Storytime...
(link) twitter.com/SohrabAhmari/status/1221974982579884032

I wonder why it is so hard to get clarification from Mumsnet, a parenting website, about what's off limits with this topic.

Sigh. Trying again. MNHQ what are we allowed to say about safeguarding ?
dolorsit · 31/01/2020 09:50

How often do kids run into drag queens? I didn't see any until I started clubbing.

Plus if your kids are into CBeebies they will have run into Justin and co in drag form. Although I admit I'm not sure if pantomime dames are actually classed as drag these days.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 31/01/2020 09:51

I've never seen a drag queen in the flesh. The only men in drag I've seen are pantomime dames.

Languishingfemale · 31/01/2020 09:53

If you take your children to libraries or they attend some unfortunate primary schools, you'll find that drag queens are over welcome in some of these places.
