Harry Miller in The Times

Harry Miller speaks in The Times about how the police have adopted Stonewall policies, leading to the insanity of crime non crimes

Speaking ahead of the judgment on the case, which is expected early next month, he said: “I am pro-police. I do not think that the people in the police force have looked at this and thought how can we become totalitarian? “In trying to do the right thing and be inclusive, they’ve done absolutely the wrong thing because they sold out on the core principle of not being political. I think that in so doing they’ve subcontracted out their critical thinking to Stonewall [the lobby group for LGBT rights]

I am certain that a certain judge is on the receiving end of numerous attempts to "re educate" him. Maybe the gulag has been threatened?

calllaaalllaaammma · 26/01/2020 12:54

It's so unsustainable that police time is being wasted like this when prosecutions for other crimes such as theft and rape have dropped to an all-time low.

The ST also has this today re Rosa Freeman (there may be a more apt thread, if anyone wants to c&p the link)

This comment by Unconvinced resonates with me.
"The activists and Universities create ‘safe spaces’ where students can go to ensure they can’t hear others opinions. If you wanted complete and total control over someone, you would stick them in a ‘safe space’ and feed them information. You can tell them whatever you like because they can’t hear any other opinions."

The whole point of university is teaching people how to challenge ideas and search for the truth. People are paying fees to be kept in the dark and fed like mushrooms. That's not university, it's some kind of degree vending machine.

Fingers crossed that the delay is because each time the finding in Fair Cop's favour gets rebuffed by higher powers, the law is found to be HM's side and they have to try another approach.

Can this happen? I have no idea of the procedure involved in a judgement. Does the judge have to share the judgement with others higher up before it is pronounced?

TheShoesa · 28/01/2020 12:47

Mossyrock that was an off the top of my head comment. Like you, I have no idea of the procedure involved. Perhaps 'higher powers' would be better replaced with 'if the judge is being encouraged to find against HM having been pressured behind the scenes, but repeatedly discovers that finding FOR Faircop is in line with the law' or words to that effect. Sorry for the misinformation. There just has to be some reason as to why the judgement is taking so long, Given that the Judge said he hoped to have a verdict before Christmas IIRC.

Seeing as I ageed with what midcenturylegs said: I feel as if it doesn't go in HM's favour it'll be because there has been a lot of political heavy-handed goings-on behind curtains I was trying to guess at why there is such a delay. Or does it ultimately come down to the judge as to what he releases, and when?

Mossyrock · 28/01/2020 15:31

Thanks TheShoesea. Honestly, I feel like nothing would surprise me any more. I mean, I thought that judges judge independently. But, really, who knows these days?

Oh well, fingers crossed that this goes in HM's favour. The delay makes me nervous and I can't explain it either.

Mockers2020Vision · 28/01/2020 15:39

It is understandable that people express scepticism, but I very much doubt that judges can be got at in the way people suggest. The ruling will be appealable in any case so what is the point?

More likely the judge is busy with other cases, and/or requests for official information have been held up by the seasonal holidays.

youkiddingme · 12/02/2020 17:34

Has anyone seen any more about this please? I can't find anything.

TheShoesa · 12/02/2020 17:35

Verdict this Friday AFAIK

GCAcademic · 12/02/2020 17:35

I think the judgement is due on the 14th.

youkiddingme · 12/02/2020 19:50

thank you

BovaryX · 13/02/2020 04:43

Really hoping Harry gets a great result on Friday. Whatever the outcome, the media has finally woken up and will be watching, as will millions of people concerned about the increasing threat to freedom of speech. Good luck Harry

Good luck Harry.

Fallingirl · 13/02/2020 23:03

Good luck to both Harry and Kate tomorrow.

ScapaFlo · 13/02/2020 23:16

I can't bear the suspense. I fear the worst and then the crowing will be utterly sick-making. But I live in hope that an educated person (judge) will look at all this and say WTAF has been going on and how TAF has it got this far? In suitably judge-like language, obvs.

GrandmaMazur · 13/02/2020 23:26

Good luck Harry!

This. Can't be said enough. Win or lose, the cat is out of the bag.

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/02/2020 03:26

Harry talked about how much stress this has cost him and his family. I appreciate his integrity so much! And even if Kate wins today, nothing can make up for what she has been put through. Who could have thought we’d live in a time where people are facing legal consequences for saying men can’t be women. While the overwhelming majority of men who commit sexual crimes against women and girls are getting away with it. Bad judgments today would be so fucking discouraging, but either way, we have to just keep pulling...

I know. It's absolutely barking mad. Who would have thought 1984 would be treated not as a warning, but as an instruction manual?
