@JustineMumsnet

We the undersigned would like to ask you to consider reinstating LangCleg after a temporary suspension, as you have done with others.

Or perhaps, consider reinstating her for a three-month trial period and then reviewing.

We know you will have realised, from the two other LangCleg threads, how much her wisdom and constant voice in support of robust safeguarding is welcomed by so many on this board. It is truly a great loss to us, and to the depth of discussion about such important matters.

We hope Justine that you might do two things:

  • Review what actually happened with LangCleg and decide whether it really was so dire that she deserves permanent expulsion, or whether perhaps there was an element of misunderstanding on your moderators' part (which Michaeel's post indicates may have happened) and, that perhaps she was being held to an inappropriately high standard compared to others
  • Review the process, so that strong voices on here are able to continue to be heard for the benefit of all Mumsnet users

Or perhaps do neither of those things, and just reinstate her because you recognise how important your other Mumsnet users find her.... I guess the equivalent of a Royal Pardon,

Please hear our voice.

And everyone on here, please do sign if you want LangCleg back - just that, a signature with any discussion continuing on the LangCleg 2 thread. A signature to say you want her back and hope that @JustineMumsnet will consider this.

Thank you - both my fellow mums netters and Justine

Is this an attempt to move the conversation on do we think?

It seems strange timing.

Willis I haven't told anyone they need 'retraining', I really don't know what you're on about

This was you, no? You clearly don't think their training is adequate and need extra if so?
I'm sure hundreds of us on here would be happy to contribute to a fund for extra training for the Mods if you think that might help?
Also I'm sure that when Lang mentioned the Freedom Programme Training she was genuinely being helpful.
Can translate/come across as you didn't experience what you think you did, you've misunderstood.
I'm sure the mods know exactly what happened/how they were treated, how is telling them they're mistaken, weren't subject to abuse at all, don't be silly, going to help?

heathspeedwell · 07/02/2020 18:40

Willis I'm sorry that you can't see the difference between offering to fund extra training which is clearly a positive thing and claiming that people need 'retraining' which is clearly negative.

I feel very fortunate that my employers offer ongoing training opportunities, as do my colleagues. I don't think any of us see that as a negative.

I don't see it as a negative either, BUT

Well, I'm sorry that you can't see that yes it would be a good thing to offer to fund extra training IF you weren't insinuating that the only reason they behaved like they did was because they were misunderstood and it hadn't happened like that at all and here, you need training.
Sounds a bit gaslighty even if you won't see it that way.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 07/02/2020 19:03

I shouldn’t worry about it heath

Im sure you were trying to be helpful

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 07/02/2020 19:05

I'm sure it was meant in a helpful way as well, I was just saying how it'd be likely to be received Smile

Worth thinking about this for your own posts Willis Wink

BlackForestCake · 07/02/2020 21:43

I have plenty of compassion for the mods, who are entitled to come to work without being abused or treated with contempt.

I'll remember this next time snow's pals are trying to get someone disciplined or sacked for their opinions.

Who the heck are "snow's pals"? That daft insinuation thing again if you don't always agree blindly with everything. Hmm

We have suggested FP training for the admin team many times. It usually comes up when there is a major misunderstanding or security breach.

Justine and Michael made it quite clear that our repeated suggestion that the admin team could benefit from additional training was viewed as criticism of the admin team and therefor a banning offense. That is the basis upon which they say they banned Lang.

2BthatUnnoticed · 10/02/2020 05:00

(heath I know your suggestion was well meant, but based on past experience, it may not be well received - and it’s not worth you getting a warning (or worse) for, at this stage)

Sorely missed.

GinUnicorn · 20/02/2020 08:24

Still missed. I’ve just recently discovered feminist boards and in past topics she seems measured and articulate. I wish MN would reconsider.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 20/02/2020 08:26

Me too.

Lordfrontpaw · 20/02/2020 08:26

Has someone kidnapped the office dog or something?

TirisfalPumpkin · 20/02/2020 08:33

HQ, it would be great if you could take another look at this. Measured, reasonable poster & clearly still missed.

Without content creators you don’t have content, and no one wants to go to a website with no content.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 20/02/2020 08:47

I'd add that most visitors here come for high quality 'content ' and informed discussion . Which is why posters like Lang are so valuable an asset to mumsnet.

Agreed.

Given the sort of codswallop being spouted by Labour MPs at the moment we desperately need Lang back
