Period pants

Hello, I wanted to tell anyone who is still using tampons and sanitary towels/pads about period pants. I think they're a total game changer for women and for the environment. They look and feel like normal pants, but with a slightly thicker lining. You can get various absorbency in some brands. You don't need a tampon/towel or anything as back up. They will last all day or all night. Rinse them out when you take them off then you can machine wash them with your other washing.
I've uploaded a video to YouTube to show how mine coped with 10 hours of heavy flow (content warning: menstrual blood, obviously)

Many thanks, I’ve been thinking about these.

TheGinGenie · 16/01/2020 21:34

I use these and they are brilliant especially for days where you think you might come on but you're not sure!

HappyHedgehog247 · 16/01/2020 21:35

Thank you. I’ve been curious about these. Are you happy to share what brand you used as they obviously worked well!

Mner2000 · 16/01/2020 21:36

I have just got some modibody. They are expensive but awesome. They feel no different to normal pants...

Panpastels · 16/01/2020 21:37

I use wuka pants, I'm a convert! Great invention.

newmumwithquestions · 16/01/2020 21:42

Also interested and wanting recommendations of makes. I use a cup anyway so no big environmental benefit but would like peace of mind on heavy days.

NannyR · 16/01/2020 21:43

I've been thinking about getting some. Do they really last all day? I use washable pads at the moment but I find that I need to change them at least once during the day, even if they aren't "full", because they have a noticeable smell - how are the pants different?

RandomMenstruatingWoman · 16/01/2020 21:44

Happyhedghog247 mine are modibodi.

newmumwithquestions · 16/01/2020 21:44

Sorry OP... see the make is clear in the video

RandomMenstruatingWoman · 16/01/2020 21:47

NannyR I think I know what you mean. When you use pads there's a dried blood smell that you don't get really with period pants. Menstrual blood does have a slight odour but dried blood smells more I think.

Tempting but with stage 4 endometriosis, I'm worried that even heavy flow wouldn't be sufficient for me.

If any endo sufferers have used successfully please let me know! Smile

Neuropsy112 · 16/01/2020 21:49

Just ordered some modi bodi for the teen. I see it refers to women on one part, but says that they are for all sexes later on. Bit confused.

BestestBrownies · 16/01/2020 21:51

Place marking as would love to know which brands have been tried, tested and recommend before committing to buy.

I use washable panty liners atm but find them useless when playing sports as they don’t stay put.

Also have endometriosis and a very irregular/unpredictable period, so being able to wear them as normal pants that can cope with surprises would be fantastic.

RandomMenstruatingWoman · 16/01/2020 21:54

I really like how secure they feel. When I have a heavy flow, and have a tampon or pad on, I sometimes worry when I'm sitting down if anything is coming through onto my clothes or chair. Especially with pads, sometimes it runs off down the side before it's had a chance to absorb (or is it just me!). The period pants absorb really well, even after 10 hours there was no "am I going to get away with this?" feeling about sitting down (or getting up)!

Neuropsy I think they do a tight boxer short type style.

This is the second advertising thread you’ve started about these.

SunbeamsOverhead · 16/01/2020 21:57

Yep I have MBs & think they are awesome 👍

CalleighDoodle · 16/01/2020 22:01

I have one pair of modibodi and love it. I am too poor to boy more atm Sad

trulyconfuseddotcom · 16/01/2020 22:01

Thanks, this was a really useful and practical video.

ScatteredMama82 · 16/01/2020 22:03

I love my period pants! I have WUKA. I don't wear them in the day, I use washable pads which are also fab. I got caught out on holiday and used disposable, I had forgotten how awful they are. Never going back!

RandomMenstruatingWoman · 16/01/2020 22:12

Scatterlit I'm not advertising, I'm just enthusiastic. I don't work for any period pants companies. I'm just trying to help women discover something more convenient for them and save the environment. I'm a normal MNer, just name changed for totally obvious reasons.

I can't believe people saying that they feel like normal pants. They don't. They feel like nappies. I have both thinx and another one I can't remember the name of. They feel huge and padded. Under trousers you end up with a big padded mono bum. They also can't be washed with fabric softener. So they need an entire wash on their own. And they take a looong time to dry. They aren't great imo. Good for girls struggling with period poverty though.

damnthatanxiety · 16/01/2020 22:17

Wuka. That's the other brand. They are sooo thick. Feel crazy.

PianoTuner567 · 16/01/2020 22:21

They are good but damn is spot on about the faff of washing and drying them.

Beamur · 16/01/2020 22:21

DD uses them. I just wash them with the other clothes (Inc fabric softener) and it hasn't affected how they work. They do take longer to dry.
She's very happy with them.
