Great column from Janice today: Flowers

"Jo Swinson chose wokeness over women’s rights"

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/jo-swinson-chose-wokeness-over-womens-rights-jm26ldx35?shareToken=1bb1b5a3e627aa308f03953a99c59666

I might send Jo Swinson a bunch of flowers. My card will read: “Thank you for making reform of the Gender Recognition Act a flagship Liberal Democrat election policy, thus finally giving journalists permission to expose the consequences for women’s rights and safety.”

that goes for both the Lib Dems and their you definitely don't exist, you're already abolished and Labour with their oh come on love, we're only going to abolish you a little bit.

This. Oh this.

Fuck that. Fuck the whole rampant sexism underpinning it.

As for Jo Swinson…. oh how I wish Emma had demanded how many women were an acceptable number for violent sexual crime victims as collateral damage so that males can have more freedom of choice and respect. Put a number on it. How many women exactly should embrace having their lives ruined to make males happier, Jo? And how does this not fundamentally expose your extremely fucked up belief about the natural subhuman and servile position that should be held by someone born biologically female?

Get thee to the bloody freedom programme.

StandUpStraight · 07/12/2019 18:48

Not sure if this has been posted already but The Times have a new article up now on the donation from the puberty blocker pharma companies to the Lib Dems www.thetimes.co.uk/article/puberty-blocker-drug-firm-donated-cash-to-lib-dems-cf3x77nh3?shareToken=628034842226d561165ff65ef2a0704c

Cismyfatarse1 · 07/12/2019 18:58

Bloody hell. Not a mad conspiracy theory then? The Times will have fact checked this very carefully, I assume.

Bloody hell!

Those poor children becoming subjects in a bizarre experiment backed by the supposedly cuddly Lib Dem Party.

BovaryX · 07/12/2019 19:00

The firm, owned by the Swedish billionaire Frederik Paulsen, markets the drug triptorelin, which is used to block puberty among adolescents.

All kudos to The Times for reporting this. Perhaps the media’s long Rip Van Winkle phase is over. The more coverage this gets, the better

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 07/12/2019 19:11

Two comments

  1. how is the X on a passport gonna work? (I appreciate thats a question) It ma6 be fine in this country but what if you go to a less woke country...is there a danger you wont be let in because they dont want any Xs in their country

  2. after the 2017 election the main parties said that 80% of voters voted for leave parties and therefore wanted leave. I’ll put money on the same thing happening for self ID...any vote for labour lib dem and green will be taken as a vote for self id

I am voting whatever dd decides, she is so close to be able to vote and i dont really want to vote for anyone

ALittleBitofVitriol · 07/12/2019 19:13

Michelleoftheresistance
Every time I ask that question (How many women and girls are an acceptable loss before I'm allowed to even discuss this?) I get the same response. They ignore and switch back to the 'Most oppressed, be nice' line. When I say I'd like to be nice to the women and girls they're happy to offer as sacrificial lambs, they tend to retire to a fainting couch with a last 'niiiiice' escaping their pale lips...*

*I Do love a bit of poetic melodrama.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 07/12/2019 19:14

Oh and fab article

dayoftheclownfish · 07/12/2019 19:24

Yes, the first time I heard that line 'oh, but men will always rape women!' after I pointed out the safeguarding issues with self-ID, I knew that this was a deeply misogynistic ideology. What baffles me is that so many women don't seem to get this. A woman said this to me. So sad.

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/12/2019 19:59

Wow fab article! So not tin hat propaganda afterall...

RoyalCorgi · 07/12/2019 20:34

It's interesting to read all these stories of Liberal Democrat candidates who don't know that this policy is in their manifesto. I suppose this is part of the Dentons strategy of smuggling gender self-ID policy in under the radar.

Because when you think about this properly, it's astonishing. They're proposing to make a legislative change that will, in one step, change the definitions of "man" and "woman" that have been commonly understood for thousands of years. It will remove the government's ability to accurately record sex-based data, and eliminate women's long-held right to women-only refuges, hospital wards, prisons and sports. It's a HUGE change in the law. And yet they and the TRAs are trying to pass it off as a minor administrative change.

WrathofFaeKlop · 07/12/2019 20:39

Not a grassroots change but a power shift from the top, in secret and away from public scrutiny.

The shift away from organised religion in the West is being replaced by an ethical rule book written by the secret sect of woke.

The Beaumont Society et al would have been very adept at keeping things quiet. The problem of male homosexuality being against the law was a strong motivation to attract people who could help change laws.

Different times back then.

Social media has allowed groups to rapidly establish global connections with the similar motivations.

Their confidence has brought them out into the open.
This is good.

We mustn't let them change laws.

This article needs it’s own thread l don’t have a share token so l can’t start it , but this would have a wide appeal on Mumsnet.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 07/12/2019 20:44

I mentioned the 'there will always be loopholes' line to our local Lib Dem activist. She'd not noticed self ID being smuggled in and looked appalled.

WrathofFaeKlop · 07/12/2019 21:04

May I quote a comment by David from the article..

"For my money the Lib Dems are by far the least objectionable of the mainstream parties at present, but this section of their manifesto troubled me from the moment I read it".

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/12/2019 21:07

Thread, didn't know it was linked here. Also didn't have share token so clumsy start!

Puberty-blocker drug firm donated cash to Lib Dem's: The Times http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3762900-puberty-blocker-drug-firm-donated-cash-to-lib-dem-s-the-times

SwedishEdith · 07/12/2019 21:14

Here's Tom Harwood, one of the Tory activists they use to try to get the youth vote, calling Emily Maitlis a terf.

Janice Turner thanks the LibDems
Cismyfatarse1 · 07/12/2019 21:23

I started a thread with a share token. There if anyone wants it.

BarbaraStrozzi · 07/12/2019 21:28

This Tom Harwood, Swedish?

www.conservativehome.com/platform/2019/01/tom-harwood-the-threat-to-free-speech-at-universities-is-not-a-myth.html

So a raving fucking hypocrite as well as a misogynist. Nice.

TimeLady · 07/12/2019 21:32

Tom Harwood was pretty obnoxious when Maya Forrester was interviewed on Politics Live. Jo Coburn was sneerily dismissive towards her too.

I hope your day in court means you can stick two fingers up to the pair of them, Maya. Tossers.

Same bloke.

StandUpStraight · 08/12/2019 00:54

Thanks for starting the new thread - I posted and went out to dinner. (Where I had an argument with a friend who has postal voted Lib Dem because she can’t bring herself to vote Tory and thinks that tribal loyalty is more important than reading the actual manifesto.)

SeaRabbit · 08/12/2019 07:22

I have voted LibDem all my life except for the most recent European elections when I spoiled my ballot. I am vehemently opposed to Brexit. But after reading this comment below the Janice Turner article I am thinking about voting Tory. As someone posted up thread, they are talking about a seismic shift and disguising it as mere administration. Stop me voting Tory someone:

DEAR JANICE,
I must admire your article as it changed how I will vote on Thursday. I am a dyed-in-the-wool internationalist and remainer and have followed the Tory debacle that is called Brexit with horror.
I saw this country plunged into an economic mess, in the short-, medium- and long-term due to poor economic understanding, and wishful thinking, on the part of Johnson & co.
I was therefore going to vote LibDem….until I read your article!
I suddenly saw that economic mismanagement from the Tories is something we can survive, it’s like ‘getting used to lukewarm baths and tea in the new Britain’.
But the ‘woke’ policies of Jo Swinson and the LibDems are so much worse. They show a lack of understanding of life, humans, society and politics. I must confess that until your article, I had not done my ‘due diligence’ and seen their policies and promises that were unrelated to Brexit, my mistake.

Cooroo · 08/12/2019 08:06

On Jo Swinson and passports - watch this! The original caller is low-hanging fruit and easily demolished but watch her flounder when it moves to passports! www.lbc.co.uk/radio/presenters/nick-ferrari/jo-swinson-passionate-gender-neutral-uniform/

NeurotrashWarrior · 08/12/2019 08:10

Sorry cis I didn't see your thread.
