@smileordie

Yeah the BBC article was weird.

Plot:
male-bodied youth grows up in homophobic, football lad environment. Youth doesn’t fit in and wonders if they are gay. Teenage confusion leading to depression and anxiety:however, due to talent receives top notch football training. Quits football and years later comes out as trans. everything sunny until person joins a women’s only football club. Doesn’t fit in. Complains people feel Intimidated by them and are asked to skill down. Plays now in mixed-gender lbgtq+ Inclusive team.

Conclusion based on plot: lbgtq+ person feels more comfortable socialising with other lbgtq+ people

implied conclusion If article: women’s only team is mean to outsiders and exclusive

Michelleoftheresistance · 05/12/2019 15:41

Yeah I never hear a woman call another woman that.

Never mind, I'm sure JK will take a whole half second to snort and move on with her life.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 05/12/2019 15:44

Mhairi Black managed to call women 'Jeremy Hunts'. Shockingly poor behaviour for an elected MP, whatever the subject.

Lordamighty · 05/12/2019 15:50

Hmmm Rainbow Laces, isn’t that the campaign Aviva are supporting? Maybe someone on Twitter could send them the lovely tweet from the delightful Samantha.

BarbaraStrozzi · 05/12/2019 16:10

The sad thing is taken overall rainbow laces is a damn good idea. There is a huge, ongoing problem with homophobia in team sports, especially men's team sports, which desperately needs addressing. (But as usual, the T part of the alphabet spaghetti seems to be welding a disproportionatesmount of influence).

PJsatMidday · 05/12/2019 16:17

WTF is a "trans footballer"? Someone who's adamant they are playing soccer, but in reality, they are playing rugby?

I wish the BBC would stop mangling the English language.

MockersFactCheckMN · 05/12/2019 16:17

You'd need a bloody big 4k telly to see who was or wasn't wearing the laces. Not aware that anyone has opted out, like one Serb and one Irish player have done with the poppy.

GeordieTerf · 05/12/2019 16:24

When JK Rowling first published Harry Potter she wasn’t allowed to use her real name (Joanne) as the publishers didn’t want the world to know that she was female.

That may have taught JK a thing or two about misogyny.

andyoldlabour · 05/12/2019 16:26

"WTF is a "trans footballer"? Someone who's adamant they are playing soccer, but in reality, they are playing rugby?"

Grin That has given me a real laugh.
StopThePlanet · 05/12/2019 16:28

To coin a MN phrase, "I'd call you a cunt [back] but you lack the warmth and depth."

Yaaasssssss 🤣

Cuntysnark · 05/12/2019 16:34

I complained to the SNP about Mhairi Black’s rant, never heard a word back.

Milanimilani · 05/12/2019 17:12

Didn’t know that about Rowling.

However, if I have to be called a part of my anatomy, can I pick ‘ear’? I know everyone has one, so I can be well inclusive.

aliasundercover · 05/12/2019 17:23

The rainbow laces thing has been ruined. At one point I’d have been proud to wear them, now I’d be worried that people would think I believe that men can be women.

Gingerkittykat · 05/12/2019 18:01

"The first time I realised transgender was 'a thing' was when I was about 15. A friend came out as trans and it was a bit of a light bulb moment for me. Suddenly I was aware that this was probably my issue too.

No social contagion here at all.

At least Sammy is now playing in an LGBT team which looks like most of the players are bio men and not taking a place in a woman's team.

Jux · 05/12/2019 18:45

(S)he's really rather dim, young Walker, no? (Wants to transition implies still male so parentheses are really the kindest whilst remaining accurate.)

KatvonHostileExtremist · 06/12/2019 08:27

And what did JK do dear readers?

JK liked a tweet. That was all that was needed for the woke mob to descend. I'm thinking the tweet was about the struggle women had to get sexism out of labour and the need for women's sex based short lists. Something deeply deeply awful.

Pure evil eh?

After subsequent bombardment of hate JK started to follow some gc accounts. She may not agree with them, she might be doing it purely for interest.

Each day she added more.

How the mob howled.

As for "acceptance" Sammy, a beautiful example of a woke hypocrite. I wouldn't encourage anyone to go up to anyone in a pub and verbally assault them. But Sammy here is clearly a thug.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 06/12/2019 08:28

I'm surprised sammy didn't want JK milkshaked too

Although, thankfully, that twatish behaviour seems to have subsided

BeardedVulture · 06/12/2019 09:00

JK Rowling has also included trans, gender fluid and 'trans-abled' characters in 3 out ot 4 of her Cormoran Strike series of detective novels.

xJodiex · 06/12/2019 20:03

Sadly, Rainbows = misogyny to me these days, I avoid them like the plague.

J K Rowling follows Fionne Orlander (transwoman), Magdalen Berns (now passed away) - feminist who helped set up a women's feminist group in Scotland and Julie Bindel.

But she also follows/ed Lyra McKee (the lesbian who was shot in Ireland but who was a trans ally) so I do not think J K is transphobic.

TileFloors · 06/12/2019 20:07

I’m sure JK cried all the way to the bank

Boing01 · 12/02/2020 20:36

Sammy Walker is a nasty piece of work. Always has been and always will be. Father of two kids. What a role model.

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 12/02/2020 21:46

Do you know, nothing surprises me anymore. I clicked on a thread on here this morning and someone had posted a Twitter link. It took me down a bit of a rabbit hole but I ended up on the Twitter account of an MP. He definitely represented Labour. I am thinking it was Brighton, but I’m not sure about that. Anyway, someone tweeted him something perfectly reasonable but they disagreed with something about Labour (it wasn’t trans-related) and his reply to them was simply: FUCK OFF.

I’m not shocked or appalled by swearing and think MPs are not some holy grail that aren’t able to swear but my face was a little Shock when I read it. People get sacked from jobs for posting their opinions on their personal twitter account that is nothing to do with the company or customers/constituents whatsoever and yet an MP, who has established what party he works for and who he wants to represent can get away with telling constituents to “fuck off” online and not have any warning or disciplinary was shocking. (He may have received a warning but there were loads of tweets after that one so I’m guessing not, or he ignored the warning).

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 12/02/2020 21:49

Can you imagine being in a customer-facing role and telling customers (constituents, in this case) to “fuck off” and not expect to get some sort of disciplinary? The only roles I can currently imagine being “accepted” to say this to a customer would be someone working as a bouncer or security dealing with a very aggressive person.

GCAcademic · 12/02/2020 21:58

Britney - if that is the same Brighton MP who was on Politics Live today, and who we were discussing on another thread, the “Fuck Off” does not surprise me in the least. He is grossly unprofessional, positively throbbing with anger,, and completely unable to control his emotions. He also recently called MPs from his own party “cunts” for not being Corbyn supporters.

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 12/02/2020 22:05

@GCAcademic It was definitely not him (I watched it live too this morning). Which somehow makes it worse! If it was just one singular person spitting bile I would have felt better, but this was not the same person.
