It's not about escalation is it? They said 30 of Harry's tweets for transphobic!

Datun · 21/11/2019 12:59

*were not for

breakfastpizza · 21/11/2019 12:59

This judge is bloody brilliant.

Destinysdaughter · 21/11/2019 13:00

Love this!

Datun · 21/11/2019 13:02

Exactly. 'Bad'. Not criminal, not hateful, just, er, bad.

PurpleHoodie · 21/11/2019 13:03

"Judge -

If Parliament wants to take away fundamental human rights it can't fo it by general words, it must face up to the consequences of what it is doing"

I would like to see the defense pushing a lot harder on the claim that there was no political motive for the complaint, because really, does anyone believe that? It's pretty obvious that some sort of collusion occurred, the question is who exactly was involved.

breakfastpizza · 21/11/2019 13:05

Learning some new words!

susurration
/ˌsuːsʌˈreɪʃ(ə)n/
noun
whispering or rustling.

vituperative
/vɪˈtjuːp(ə)rətɪv,vʌɪˈtjuːp(ə)rətɪv/
adjective
bitter and abusive.
"a vituperative outburst"

OvaHere · 21/11/2019 13:06

I love this Judge and his snark.

Was he chosen at random or would he have been allocated to this case based on specialist knowledge?

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 21/11/2019 13:06

ROLL ON 2PM

Good luck Harry The Owl
TheProdigalKittensReturn · 21/11/2019 13:07

If it was specialized knowledge it clearly wasn't of social media, so I'm guessing either free speech law or criminal harassment law.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/11/2019 13:08

ROLL ON 2PM

How dare they take a lunch break! This is way too interesting to take a break from.

teawamutu · 21/11/2019 13:09

I hope they're not able to pin it all on poor PC Gul - this is a systemic problem and the guy was doing the job he'd been told to do.

CaveMum · 21/11/2019 13:09

I’m taking my lunch break now too! See y’all at 2pm!

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 21/11/2019 13:10

"Judge Snark"

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 21/11/2019 13:11

It really is hilarious to see typical TRA language deployed in such an inappropriate context. It's all hyperbole, manipulation, and appeals to emotion, and it doesn't seem to have occurred to the legal team to think of a backup plan if that failed to impress the judge. It's making them sound like they got their law degree out of a Kinder egg.

Judge - Problem from your point of view is this - we have sought to help you understand how comments that TWAW when placed on social media platform can escalate - we have a duty to prevent you doing that.

You have to deal with 'such comments'. the same type of comment.

Is the Judge saying here that if tweets saying TWAM are viewed as a potential to escalate then the police must view TWAW in the same light? Have I read that correctly?

OvaHere · 21/11/2019 13:14

I hope they're not able to pin it all on poor PC Gul - this is a systemic problem and the guy was doing the job he'd been told to do.

I agree. All these issues stem from 'Stonewall Law' and biased training from them and similar orgs.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 21/11/2019 13:14

I read it as trans women aren't women rather than the definition used here.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 21/11/2019 13:16

If that's what the judge means then that would be a. entirely correct and b. far, far beyond anything I'd thought realistically possible for this trial to accomplish.

I have things to do but I don't want to stop watching in case I miss something!

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 21/11/2019 13:17

Sussuration, like murmuration, is an onomatopaeic word, which means it sounds like what it means. Cuckoo is another. Clunk is an obvious one.

ForeverFaff · 21/11/2019 13:17

I hope PC Gull does get it pinned on him. He took it upon himself to use his position of power to intimidate an innocent man into acting as he wanted him to. He probably bragged to the 'victim' of the tweets that he 'would sort it' as he had had training Hmm
If this is how police behave after woke-training, then heaven help us all.
TWAM, that's never going to change and I can say it as often as I like.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/11/2019 13:18

I hope PC Gull does get it pinned on him.

I hope he doesn't. If it does, Gul gets chucked under the bus, and nothing changes. If is determined as an institutional failing than things will need to change.

ClosdesMouches · 21/11/2019 13:19

I hope they're not able to pin it all on poor PC Gul - this is a systemic problem and the guy was doing the job he'd been told to do.

I agree. I'm actually quite pessimistic about the outcome of this after reading today's exchanges, ie directing any change to individual officer's actions rather than overall policy.

ClosdesMouches · 21/11/2019 13:19

Cross post with ItsAll who expressed much better than I exactly what I was trying to say!
