Surely the mere fact that they wrote up 28 pages about some tweets rather casts doubt about their impartiality (and indeed time management skills - did no actual crimes happen during the time they were writing a novella about Harry's Twitter account?)

teawamutu · 21/11/2019 11:05

Do we know who the complainant is? Have any of the usual suspects been gloating?

ScapaFlo · 21/11/2019 11:06

Heavens to Murgatroyd I am transfixed reading Fair Cop's twitter thingy (I'm not on twitter)

I may not get anything done today.

Loving the 'asides'

Birdsfoottrefoil · 21/11/2019 11:07

Thing is even as a statistical recording exercise it is completely flawed as it can be gamed, as no evidence is required (and no hate), by people wishing to alter policy/law. So the negative ‘consequences down the line’ are for everyone not just Harry.

Datun · 21/11/2019 11:11

The school example? Surely every biology teacher will be preaching hate, according to them?

This is mad.

somebrightmorning · 21/11/2019 11:17

Would someone be kind enough to give me the formal name of the case and the division it's in?
Thanks.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 21/11/2019 11:17

Defence Counsel - this is in statement of Mr Tucker

anyone know who Mr Tucker is?

ScapaFlo · 21/11/2019 11:20

My Tucker - tell me it's nothing to do with M&S pants Grin

Datun · 21/11/2019 11:21

Is it an alias for the complainant?

ClosdesMouches · 21/11/2019 11:24

Grin Scapa

RuffleCrow · 21/11/2019 11:25

This is really important for maintaining the separation of powers between law enforcement and the judiciary.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 21/11/2019 11:29

it appears that Mr Tucker's complaint was

HM has attacked community

so Tucker contends that Harry wronged a community?

Datun · 21/11/2019 11:35

They're going round in circles. Back to the chilling effect?

Of course is fucking chilling if you get a phone call from the police saying they want to check your thinking!!!!!

RuffleCrow · 21/11/2019 11:36

I really hope the judge pulls that police officer's definition of 'transgender' to shreds and then makes recommendations to overhaul their training. It's a complete farce that we have the police spouting lies as evidence.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 21/11/2019 11:38

Def counsel disparages text books

Judge - I have written several text books

The Defense Counsel should probably go hide in a closet for a while..

it seems that the CoP are contending that the primary purpose of recording 'hate incidents' is to 'monitor the area'

I'm not sure if that's the geographical area, or the area of attitudes towards those with the characteristics that can have a hate incident recorded against them

either way it's a bit weird no? like some sort of marking scheme for how liberal uk citizens are

Destinysdaughter · 21/11/2019 11:44

Earlier this morning I tweeted the link to this thread to Ricky Gervais and he's 'liked' it! Smile

Datun · 21/11/2019 11:44

Plus hate incidents need clarification. Is saying TWAM a hate incident? Is objecting to AGPs a hate incident?

teawamutu · 21/11/2019 11:44

Btw I've seen no mention of this on the tg reddit subs, and not much on twitter. Am I missing a whole furore?

mateysmum · 21/11/2019 11:46

Even if this judge (heaven forbid) rules against Harry I am so loving him for the entertainment value of his sharp questioning and classic put downs. It's like a proper court room drama!

myfavouriterain · 21/11/2019 11:48

*recording 'hate incidents' is to 'monitor the area'

I'm not sure if that's the geographical area, or the area of attitudes towards those with the characteristics that can have a hate incident recorded against them*

But all that can reasonably be recorded is the feelings of those with certain characteristics, and whether they feel more or less hated this month. Which without a definition of hate, or incident is arbitrary. Is that a correct understanding?

Macareaux · 21/11/2019 12:07

If recording of hate incidents is just to monitor area then why are they published as evidence of an increase in hate.

Destinysdaughter · 21/11/2019 12:09

Judge saying he accepts she was genuinely offended but will have to analyse how rational that was!

APerkyPumpkin · 21/11/2019 12:16

I do wonder which force would meltdown first if every woman and girl that read something that 'offended' them, reported it as a hate incident.

I think I could start now and would have to give up my day job and would probably never ever stop.
