I don't know about anyone else- but not only does this not make sense. Why are activists using their wee ones to make these stupid statements. Please say I'm not the only one?

How does challenging the students on this go down in your university?

PositiveVibez · 26/10/2019 07:32

Some women who identify as men, have periods too

There, fixed that for you.

@BelaLug0si

When a tranman's medical records are changed, this is supposed to include explaining that the GP and transman are now jointly responsible for ensuring that the person attends for cervical screening if appropriate. The GP has to contact the transman with results in writing.
So acknowledging the fallacy of "transmen are men" then really.

Transwomen should ignore cervical screening invitations
What a waste of resources on sending pointless reminders. And I'm absolutely positive that all transwomen will decline the opportunity to have an oh-so-validating intimate female medical examination...

I know that abnormal cell changes often revert back to normal without treatment in younger women, but I think it's naive not to accept that budgets are a factor. If the NHS had unlimited funds I'd like to think that young women would be screened and monitored closely to ensure that any abnormal results do resolve themselves, and treating those women who need it. Besides the point really, because I'm sure nobody is going to argue that the NHS has money to waste.

That sentence never ends with "...so that's why we're campaigning to get sanitary bins in men's toilets."

It's as if it's just meaningless virtue-signalling.

I know the leaflets above are just sent out to women, but it doesn’t mention women at all, so I can imagine poorly educated people nagging their partners or adult sons to try to get tested.

@Sadie789 exactly

@TowelNumber42 surprisingly well they are more able to conceptualise due to the nature of the course i think. From a recent discussion there was more fear of male violence than concerns around lack of opportunity

The NHS has creaking IT that was invented before self-identification became a thing. Unfortunately it isn't sufficiently flexible to be able to differentiate between biological women and non-bio. The GP can send a request through to the screening database and get the transwoman ceased from cervical screening. Hopefully that is what is happening.
In terms of the transmen, HCPs are trying to ensure that people have screening they're entitled to, regardless of anything else. Whilst I have personal opinions about gender identity, my main concern is helping to ensure people have the screening appropriately, if they want it.

Regarding the screening of younger women - the point being there have been studies of whether the changes resolve on their own. Most of them do. A consequence of earlier screening is they get into the investigation system, with repeated trips to colposcopy. This ups the probability of treatment at an early age, which many colposcopists now try to avoid.
