I don't know about anyone else- but not only does this not make sense. Why are activists using their wee ones to make these stupid statements. Please say I'm not the only one?

Men have periods too

So show me a man who bleeds out of his penis.

ThreeLittleDinosaursROAR · 25/10/2019 20:46

an attempt to get an early start on the indoctrination.

The truth of this statement has given me goose bumps. It feels so much like a cult, indoctrination. It feels like they are recruiting vulnerable and confused teenagers, and even younger children apparently too. A few stories popping up of de-transitioning already, it'll be even more so in a few years. It's anti-science, it's anti-women, it's anti-LGB and anti-hetro really too. Anyone who believes in science or/and doesn't want women's&LGB rights taken away is villianized.

WhatsInAName19 · 25/10/2019 20:46

Bit of a derailment so feel free to ignore. What is going to happen when we've got transmen dying of cervical cancer because they never got called up for screening due to insisting that they be legally documented as men? Will they sue because "some men have cervices" and therefore men should be invited for cervical screening too? What about transwomen recieving call ups for female cancer screening (and I have absolutely no doubt some of them would actually turn up for the appointments for varying reasons) with all the wasted NHS resources that this would entail? I mean, we've got women dying of cervical cancer because we can't afford to screen U25s so it's ludicrous to think that we're going to piss NHS money up the wall like this. I've never seen this issue addressed, although I'm positive it will have been and I just have missed the threads.

ThreeLittleDinosaursROAR · 25/10/2019 20:49

@WhatsInAName19 It'll just be another plus if the tories are still in charge. They will continue to de-fund it and add more leverage too 'it's not working let's just scrap it'

Educator66 · 25/10/2019 21:04

If a man has a period - then he isn't a man !! He can identify as a man but he isn't actually one !!

StrangeLookingParasite · 25/10/2019 21:19

So show me a man who bleeds out of his penis....

...and I'll show you someone who urgently needs medical attention.

Nicketynac · 25/10/2019 21:29

I have talked it my toddler about periods - based on questions she has asked when I have been changing sanitary towels. She could parrot things back to me at the time but she has no understanding of any of it, and she is three so she can't spell words on a board.
If I told her that men also had periods she would believe me. If I asked her to smile for a photo she might or might not, depending on her mood at that exact moment.

andannabegins · 25/10/2019 21:45

I usually really like this woman, she is a big player in the body positivity field. This though just confused me!!

Tyrotoxicity · 25/10/2019 21:51

I'm all for a game of Plausible Lies with kids, but unless you tell them it was all blocks shortly afterwards then it's just indoctrination.

Tyrotoxicity · 25/10/2019 21:52

Oh ffs autocorrect. Bollocks, not blocks!

andannabegins · 25/10/2019 22:00

Oh and the words haven't been changed she did actually post that!

ErrolTheDragon · 25/10/2019 22:14

I can't imagine why anyone would be discussing periods with a toddler other than in an attempt to get an early start on the indoctrination.

Er...any mother whose kid wouldn't let them use the loo in peace?Grin

Sure, kids who can't yet read can have a basic idea of what a period is. What takes indoctrination is to get them to think it's anyone except women who have them - they're very good at correct categorisation IME. I can't imagine why anyone would be discussing periods with a toddler other than in an attempt to get an early start on the indoctrination.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 25/10/2019 22:36

Er...any mother whose kid wouldn't let them use the loo in peace?

It's bad enough when the cat follows you in there...

CoachBombay · 25/10/2019 22:48

Stop the world, I'm ready to get off now. I'm sick to the back teeth of the erosion of women fro. Society and popular culture.

What are we to become? "Genetic birthing vessel with XX chromosome" and numbered like fucking cattle whilst Trevor dressed in a froc gives us out daily feed of overnight oats.

I'm done. Literally done. Fuck it.

BeMoreMagdalen · 25/10/2019 23:03

Yeah, I've seen parents posting pics of their kids holding verses out of Proverbs in the King James Version of the bible. Doesn't mean a) the bible is true or b) the kid has any investment in or understanding of the words they are holding up to please their parent at all.

Michelleoftheresistance · 25/10/2019 23:09

And how lovely to see a toddler being exploited to further a political agenda.

Nothing dodgy about that at all.

Next week: a smiling baby holding a sign stating Boris Johnson Is Lovely And Right All The Time. If I can Get That, So Can You!

ErrolTheDragon · 25/10/2019 23:14

It's bad enough when the cat follows you in there...

The dog's worse - he's basically a devoted battering ram.Hmm

The thing is, when your small, insatiably curious, kid follows you in (or of necessity when out of the house is wedged in a cubicle with you) how the heck does anyone explain the blood sensibly without some clue that it's about being a mummy?

CoachBombay · 25/10/2019 23:25

Errol my son from a young age and still low at 5 follows me in to the toilet. The only way I could explain menstruation to a 3/4 year was to say "it's because mummy is a woman" 🤷🏻‍♀️ beat I could come up with at shirt notice.

I genuinely think if someone told him men could have periods he would a) brandish me a liar and happily tell me so. b) start asking me when he's going to start bleeding like mummy.

I mean why are we as a society confusing children so much? No wonder children's mental health is a crisis issues. Half of them are confused, anxious and unsure of the world we live on because let's face it the majority of society are unsure. They, the, it, he, her...Daniel form accounts is now Deborah on a Tuesday but Daniel on a Friday, is a non binary CrossFitting vegan who identified as pan sexual. 🤯

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 25/10/2019 23:26

One may particularly look forward to explaining to a male toddler that it's normal and OK that blood comes out of mummy's genitals once a month but if blood is coming out of his genitals then that's cause for concern without being able to state that he and mummy are not the same sex. Extra points for trying to explain that zie's sex will remain unknown until zie decides and how the aformentioned genital bleeding is in no way connected to that.

Creepster · 25/10/2019 23:37

In addition to females not getting the screening they need because of the beliefs they have been taught I am concerned by young males learning and believing that the life threatening drug side effects they can experience are menstruation symptoms.

BelaLug0si · 25/10/2019 23:45

@WhatsInAName19
When a tranman's medical records are changed, this is supposed to include explaining that the GP and transman are now jointly responsible for ensuring that the person attends for cervical screening if appropriate. The GP has to contact the transman with results in writing.
Transwomen should ignore cervical screening invitations.
See the new invitation leaflets here

Regarding your point that the NHS doesn't screen under 25 y/o because of cost. That's not the case - it's because screening younger age groups is not specific enough and there is a greater risk of overtreatment compared to the number of cancers that would be detected.

PurpleFrames · 25/10/2019 23:54

@midcenturylegs I thought that too!

@AlunWynsKnee it's not photoshop it's a screenshot of an Instagram story. The story originated from a gender focused therapist. I follow someone who reshaped it for a better way of describing it.

@drum123 see above ^

@andannabegins yep it's legit thanks for backing me up

@CoachBombay I feel you.

I work PT in a university and tutors are very concerned in our dept anyway about the erasure of women and self id in particular. Such that they now challenge the thought vein in classes

OP posts:
Gingerkittykat · 26/10/2019 02:53

I always take advice on menstruation from pre schoolers.

Sadie789 · 26/10/2019 03:28

What gets me is if these types of “influencer” are so solid in their beliefs and confident of their views then why disable comments on the post?

SnuggyBuggy · 26/10/2019 06:54

Isn't that just going to make older boys worry that they might be one of the men to have periods?
