there is (will be) uterus transplant experiment for tw...so...

if that succeed what will happen?

my expectation is

'feeling' become more important.
(basically you can change bio)

there's no male/female category anymore.

but Stereotypes are more emphasized.
(cause there's no stereotype you can't feel like man/woman)

religiously there will be some special statue for trans people.(man but mother statue)
(religion says god didn't make a mistake but they are very focused on motherhood so pregnant tw can be seen kind of woman....so they will make Compromise )

most creepy part, actually uterus price will go down.
and there's lot of imported uterus....(hmm)

Uterus transplant into men will not be possible for many decades, if ever. And will probably never be ethically approved. The uterus is not a plug and play component; sustaining a successful pregnancy requires the whole ecosystem of a female body.

What does this mean?

skql · 01/10/2019 10:28

@tilefloors
i hope so... but i'm scared.
scientist and doctors don't see people human anymore.

and ethically ...i don't trust human beings ethics.
(so i... kind of respect religion.)
at this point people can do anything that looks progressive.

so without mass world's political change for conservative direction
there will be it.(my think)

and what i curious is hormone could manage pregnancy ecosystem?

Can you give some information about where you heard this? Uterus transplants can only happen woman to woman.

A uterus put into a male body would be an implant, not a transplant. It is not currently considered ethical as it would be life threatening surgery that would serve no purpose.

skql · 01/10/2019 10:30

@butteryellow

basically imported uterus...
uterus will be traded like shoes and phones.
from low income country to high income country.

I'm not a medic or a scientist but I do know that pregnancy and growing a healthy baby requires more than just a uterus. I don't know how the endocrine system could work in a male the way it naturally works in a female. Would this not just be a heavily medicalised and dangerous pregnancy for the baby even if a transplant were possible? I'm not even sure it would get through on ethics. The costs would be immense.

Milanimilani · 01/10/2019 10:33

That’s the problem I have with religion. God never gets it wrong.... apart from in the case of trans people. I have not had a satisfactory answer to this at least from CofE.

AudacityOfHope · 01/10/2019 10:33

But a uterus isn't like a tote bag Confused

You can't just stuff it up there and it will hold a baby for nine months.

I think you're being very dramatic! Of course healthcare providers see people as male and female humans.

Doyoumind · 01/10/2019 10:35

Traded uteruses? In a future dystopia?

skql · 01/10/2019 10:37

@Inebriati
i heard from reddit.
i can't find it's fake or not. looks like Volunteer Recruitment.

and you know doctors don't care of ethics,
now we are changing kids sex with hormone and surgery.

It's illegal in the U.K. It would require a change in the law. See this discussion though:

justanothernameonthewall · 01/10/2019 10:43

Sorry, but that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.... And of course doctors care about ethics. Ethics is a big part of the decision making process when it comes to the care of patients. It's kind of the first thing they teach in a medical degree.

I would suggest some proper research into this and then come back with some backed up facts....

Ereshkigal · 01/10/2019 10:45

You might want to read the thread I posted a link to. Researchers at Imperial College in London asked for MTF participants to gauge a demand for womb transplants. Documents attached.

skql · 01/10/2019 10:45

@Milanimilani

i usually replace god=Absolute ethics, mother nature,biology....

then actually can better understand christian.

example for transpeople

'god make no mistake'-> biologically you are man/woman.
you can change fixed fact.
love your self.

justanothernameonthewall · 01/10/2019 10:46

Good link, wow! I find it scary this is being given serious consideration (and it will only be consideration as the uterus would be incredibly hard to implant ) from r trans rights and yet women have struggled with fertility for years....

skql · 01/10/2019 10:48

@Ereshkigal
omg thanks thanks huge relief. is there specific law for this?
is there any back door?

Uterus implants are not possible in people born biologically male. Uterus transplants are only possible between people born biologically female - however a female who has fully transitioned to male (and removed her womb accordingly) may not be eligible as it takes more than the uterus to grow a baby. Things like hormones and pelvic growth in puberty matter too. It’s very possible that all those young kids we see transitioning female to male (or male to female) wouldn’t be able to have their own kids at all regardless of whether they keep their reproductive organs or not

Ereshkigal · 01/10/2019 10:53

The researcher replied to Posie Parker when she asked him about it that it was not legal to implant wombs into men, to fob her off. I think it will be governed by the HFEA. In the documents they sent David Lewis there is an article the researcher has written where he suggests this could be overridden by the Equality Act as it would be "discrimination" against MTF trans people (if the transplant is performed on women here) on the grounds of gender reassignment.

I think this is a misunderstanding of the law, but that's where it's coming from.

Teddybear45 · 01/10/2019 11:00

They will need to define ‘woman’ legally as someone born with a uterus.

AnotherMonickerChange · 01/10/2019 11:03

Lili Elbe g.co/kgs/8hZis2

I don't know if it's done anywhere outside the UK, but it killed the first known transgender woman, Lili Elbe, formerly Einar Wegener.

Earlywalker · 01/10/2019 11:04

Some women are born without a uterus.

If it can help with infertility I think research into uterus transplants is good.

snowbear66 · 01/10/2019 11:10

They have not been able to create & grow a baby in a lab yet, let alone inside a male body. All of the drugs needed to suppress the male immune system from a transplant would damage the growing foetus alongside of many other problems.
It would be too unethical to try it at least in the west.

Ereshkigal · 01/10/2019 11:10

It's never been successfully performed on a man anywhere. As you mention, it killed Lili Elbe.

CornishMaid1 · 01/10/2019 11:14

I have heard of it - according to a BBC news story in December there had been 39 live donor womb transplants and live babies born from it. Apparently a lot were mother to daughter transplants and they were into women.

I cannot see that it would work, or be ethical, to implant one into a man, but if the only issue for the woman is that she does not have a uterus that can sustain a pregnancy (such as if she has had a hysterectomy), then it is a possible treatment. I do not know whether there have been any in this country yet though.
