Summary of the book here, it’s available on Amazon UK: www.binary.org.au/transgender_book_describes_oral_sex_by_a_6_year_old

It’s Queer Theory in action, the dilution of acceptable boundaries.

Descriptions of violent behaviour include pushing over a pregnant teacher. The author writes, “I know it was wrong but….” – as if their anger were a justification for their actions.

I saw that too, and was pretty horrified - the author sums it up pretty well:

These stories are being promoted to young people who may not have the capacity to judge whether this is good or bad behaviour. And despite the illicit nature of their accounts, each concludes by celebrating their transition

Sunkisses · 17/08/2019 08:35

You're right. This is Queer Theory in action. Transgressing boundaries and norms. Promoting sexuality to children.

I read that poor boy's story earlier. An awful story about neglect and abuse. He admits himself that he dressed in women's clothes to connect with his absent drug-addict mother who didn't look after him

CaveMum · 17/08/2019 08:57

@Sunkisses yes it’s just what the Tavistock whistleblowers described - the abused child trying to deal with their trauma by denying their sex (the subject of the abuse) and “gender affirmation only” meaning people are unable to counsel them through the trauma.

I know two deeply traumatised girls who have both identified as boys for two or three years. SS was all for starting them down the transgender counselling route and at least one of the mothers was accused of being abusive because she wouldn’t engage with the whole narrative. Both those girls have decided, one at 15 and one at 17 that she is female.
It seems so obvious that a child who was potentially sexually abused as a female, who could not protect herself as a female might think that being male is a solution. I don’t understand why neither CAMHS or SS seemed to want to start from that point!

Koalablue · 18/08/2019 04:34

Just tried to look for it at my public library. Thankfully they don't have it.

emerencemaybehopeful · 18/08/2019 05:20

A woman on twitter found it amongst her 13yr old daughter's library books.

It's being marketed as suitable for adolescents.

InionEile · 18/08/2019 05:29

I saw that book in the bookshop of a super-lefty university near me. In the term/YA section... Hmm I flicked through it briefly and wasn’t impressed either.

InionEile · 18/08/2019 05:29

*teen/YA

VikVal · 18/08/2019 05:41

Disgusting, but doesn't shock me. It's like a movement straight from a Marquis de Sade novel. What's even scarier is how the establishment seem to want to "protect" them and essentially criminalise anyone who dares to be critical. Children need to be protected, but it seems that the establishment are strict on what children need to be protected from and heavily promoting to children what they need to "embrace" and that is terrifying. God help us.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 18/08/2019 08:34

It is available in my local library (which has surprised me, actually) and I've just emailed the council to ask them if they think it's an appropriate book for the YA section.

I've attached the link from Cave's OP.

I made a FoI request to my council recently about Mermaids, only last week...

I guess I'm going to be that person! 😉

ChattyLion · 18/08/2019 08:46

Good for you mean. Who cares what a bunch of woke useful idiots think anyway?
But ugh- so depressing and awful that public services are endorsing it all and spending taxpayers’money to support it.
Why can’t these sexually-entitled creeps just fuck off and leave women and children alone? Why can’t public services support children who have been abused properly?

Rocaille · 18/08/2019 08:57

I've just seen on the online catalogue that my local library service has two copies of Beyond Magenta, catalogued in the teen section.

I recently brought to their attention that they had Juno Dawson's Mind Your Head (which deals with sex, porn, etc) in their children's section. They've since re-catalogued it as teen non-fiction.

I'd like to know on what basis they decide these books are suitable for children.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 18/08/2019 09:18

I'd like to know on what basis they decide these books are suitable for children.

Libraries order the majority of books from specialist suppliers such as Askews and Holts. Books are split into adult/teenage/junior and fiction/non-fiction categories by the supplier. Then they are rated by the supplier not in terms of quality but in terms of how popular they are likely to be, so A&H would rate any David Walliams book as a 'super seller' for example. They also note the author's nationality as borrowers tend to gravitate to authors from their own backgrounds up to a point.

When ordering books for the most part library services are just going by these ratings, there isn't time to go into the content of books. If the supplier places Beyond Magenta in the teenage (or young adult) section it will be assumed to be suitable for that age group.

Unfortunately unless a member of the public who knows better highlights unsuitable content most library services will be oblivious.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 18/08/2019 09:22

Also worth mentioning that at 13 many library services will allow you to choose books from the adult section. In my area that age was 12 until GDPR was introduced last year.

Rocaille · 18/08/2019 09:23

Thanks for the explanation, Arnold, I didn't know any of that.

Lamahaha · 18/08/2019 09:36

Here is the link to the book on amazon uk: www.amazon.co.uk/Beyond-Magenta-Transgender-Teens-Speak-ebook/dp/B00HRC9HQC/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&keywords=Beyond+Magenta%3A+Transgender+Teens+Speak+Out&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1566116781&sr=1-1

It has several five star reviews and thank goodness, a couple of one-stars bringing down the rating.

The more reality-based one star reviews, the better.

As can be expected, it has a far better rating on amazon us, with 72 mostly 4 or 5 star reviews.

WTAF
My library has both hard copies and also available as an Ebook. Listed in Young Adult section.
When I first peaktransed and came to this forum, I used to think some of you were going a bit far concerning safeguarding children around the subject. But there is definitely a dark dark side.

Yeahnahyeah · 19/08/2019 06:14

Ok I've just quickly read it. It was awful. Most of these kids had/have mental health issues. One said she was diagnosed with PCOS and that the endo then said she was a "whole different gender".

The transwoman who gave blowjobs was taken into State care several times, and also was happy to relate their instant violence when misgendered or clocked as their birth sex.

I could go on, there were so many tropes. But am just so saddened for these young adults. Their language around gender, and lack of knowledge about it is so understandable when you consider they truly think there are 57, or 102, or limitless genders.

The author finds it all mysterious and wonderful and romantic.. So ignorant, just following the brave and stunning narrative.

I think we are losing, or have lost.
Even if society pulls back from transing kids medically, the cognitive capture is too entrenched.
It's after 5pm here NZ time so I'm about to have a wine.
😥

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 19/08/2019 08:32

I think we are losing, or have lost.

We have only lost the ability to trust our government and state services, the average person on the street doesn't want this.

It's very important to recognise that the public are having none of it, we will protect each other even if it means ignoring laws.

Wurzelsnewhead · 19/08/2019 08:46

No, I don’t accept we are losing/ hand lost. Most people have not even recognised there is an issue. This will never be accepted by the general public; You can fool all the people some of the time (trying but not happened yet) some of the people all of the time ( yep they’ve managed that) but you can never fool all the people all the time (true).

I will check the availability in my library. I can think of no good reason why teens should be reading such explicit stories about other teens with MH issues, inappropriate.
Queer theory in action ; PIE advocates can’t believe their luck.

Propertyofhood · 19/08/2019 08:54

Oh my god.

I have read that page that has been linked and I actually have tears of rage in my eyes and I'm not being hyperbolic. Six? Sexually mature?

I don't even have the words, fuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccckkkkkk this.

ChattyLion · 19/08/2019 08:58

I agree with Kirk
Yes there has been regulatory capture of so many key organisations so fast and so deeply which is so dangerous, but lots of women are challenging specific instances of this through democratic and grassroots means all the time. Big or small actions, through talking to family, friends and colleagues or through high profile legal cases.

It always pops up again quickly somewhere else but we always knew this is going to be a very very long game.

The key thing to hold on to is what Kirk said, the vast majority of people don’t support this. As soon as they realise what this dogma means for themselves and their families and friends they are very shocked. Most people want there to be reasonable provision to support the rights of all!groups, which is not served by one group steamrollering over another.

The starting place to move forward on this is for everyone to acknowledge that the literal ‘TWAW’ belief (which enables people to believe that transwomen can be lesbians, to put men in women’s prisons, hospitals and sports fields etc), constitutes a serious clash of rights for lesbians and women of all ages as a class and for female and male children (since they are often in the care of women).

Until this clash of rights is acknowledged and objectively examined then clearly this issue can’t be resolved. So it is a major contribution for us all just to point out this clash of rights to other people when we see it and feel safe to do so.

So TLDR; women have not lost this, Yeah* although I absolutely understand how it can seem overwhelming or scary at times.
Look after yourself and try to keep on talking to other people IRL who get it. WineFlowers

I keep wanting to post on this thread but, honestly? Every time I try, I am reduced to paroxysms of fury.

So... just placemarking.
