Whatever happened to...loose ends, not forgotten

The Jameela Jamil thread being bumped reminded me there are several issues that have dropped off the radar that I’m sure certain people are hoping will just be forgotten. So does anyone have an update on (apologies if missed):

• Jess Bradley getting penis out in public
• NSPCC wanking at work guy
• NSPCC follow up on safeguarding, relationship with Bergdorf etc
• anything further from the National Theatre regarding homophobia

I emailed Cricket Australia, that was only last week, but I don’t expect a reply. Do we just accept that on some issues we will never see resolution? One thing I really don’t want to get lost, personally, is the investigation into the Tavistock.

I did get an email from Cricket Australia. It was from a comms officer:

"Thanks for your email.

One thing that I’d like to point out is that we launched guidelines for the inclusion of transgender and gender diverse people in Australian Cricket. They are not mandatory for clubs to implement. The simply provide guidance and support for clubs to help them to provide safe and welcoming environments if they are approached to include a transgender or gender diverse person at their cricket club. They were modelled on the Australian Human Rights Commission’s Guidelines for the inclusion of transgender and gender diverse people in sport developed alongside Sport Australia, launched in June this year. Ultimately, it is the decision of a club if it chooses to implement the guidelines, or go beyond.

Participation in sport is a fundamental human right and the guidelines support the inclusion of transgender and gender diverse people in the game. Under Federal and State and Territory law it is unlawful to discriminate on the basis of sex or gender identity in sport, unless an exemption applies. These exemptions do not apply to under 12 competitions, where discrimination on sex or gender identity is unlawful. These guidelines are provided to clubs to ensure that, if a transgender or gender diverse person wishes to participate in their club that they consider these fundamental obligations.

Finally, these guidelines are version one of many, that we will revise annually like all our policies. We believe we’ve got it right after working with the experts in the medical, government and LGBTI spheres. But this is no doubt an evolving policy space.

Let me know if you want to chat through any of this in more depth and I’d be pleased to have a further conversation with you."

Jess Bradley was under criminal investigation

Whatever happened to...loose ends, not forgotten
NotBadConsidering · 13/08/2019 09:30

I haven’t received a reply Hmm

If I were you WhatWould I would email back and ask why, if they are not mandatory, does if state:

Affiliated Associations, Clubs or Indoor Centres must permit players to participate in Community Cricket competitions in accordance with their Gender Identity, whether or not this accords with the sex they were assigned at birth, subject to the following...”

Why must if not mandatory?

I think it’s an example of deflection and postponement, hoping everything just blows over.

TufVoyaging thanks for that. Still needs to be kept an eye on.

Jess Bradley getting penis out in public

The NUS end of that - Bradley was suspended from post. The post though was an elected one and Bradley term of office has now expired.

Bradley has therefore 'left the building' and officially no longer an NUC concern.

I'm sure I read somewhere that NUS were scaling back their 'trans inclusion' effort - but that seemed to be more about lack of funds than anything else

2BthatUnnoticed · 13/08/2019 10:20

Did NSPCC ever publicly distance themselves from Protasia, or not make any comment?

(There was only a tenuous link, being a couple of their employees following them on Twitter, but I expected a bland statement that employees can follow whomever)

aliasundercover · 13/08/2019 10:35

Yeah, I’d love to find out what happened to wank-at-work guy.
I’m sure his employers would like to sit on it until it’s all forgotten.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 13/08/2019 10:40

Participation in sport is a fundamental human right

So tell that to all the women who are now 100% excluded for personal, cultural or religious reasons; when there was an an alternative for this poor hard done by trans person all along, which wouldn't exclude more than it includes

Datun · 13/08/2019 10:46

Participation in sport is a fundamental human right

Says who?

TerfTalk · 13/08/2019 10:57

After the NSPCC failed to turn up at the Mumsnet webchat, they said they would respond, which I believe they never did?

TheInebriati · 13/08/2019 11:27

The only people trying to exclude anyone from sport are the ones making women's events mixed sex.

Everyone can compete or play, in their own class. Making sports mixed sex is like making boxing mixed weight to be 'inclusive'. It's dangerous.

OhHolyJesus · 13/08/2019 11:30

NSPCC were reported and reported themselves to the charity commission and Rubberman was on 'leave' from work but didn't actually see anything on whether he was under a disciplinary.

A good reminder OP, good thread.

MrsSnippyPants · 15/08/2019 15:31

More loose ends, or rather waiting for results.
Does anybody know if the case against The Times brought by Katherine O' Donnell came to a conclusion?
And when are we supposed to hear about the birth certificate case? (Woman who identifies as a man gave birth and wants to be registered as the father, Guardian journalist I think).

MrsSnippyPants · 15/08/2019 15:36

Answering my own questions, this article says a decision on the O'Donnell case is due in August.www.heraldscotland.com/news/17767952.former-night-editor-accuses-times-newspaper-39-anti-trans-agenda-39/

NotBadConsidering · 15/08/2019 22:55

Good point Snippy the McConnell high court ruling will be huge. I suspect if it goes in McConnell’s favour we will be able to read about it in The Guardian. If it goes against McConnell they won’t mention a thing Wink

Great thread idea OP. What happened to MN releasing figures on traffic to FWR?

popehilarious · 17/08/2019 16:12

also
- Mermaids 'data breach' ie them accidentally storing their emails to trustees detailing confidential details with names etc in a public online store where anyone could read them

jamrollyolly · 17/08/2019 16:24

*Chatty

I think the FWR figures did get released and were huge. I'll see if I can find the thread.

jamrollyolly · 17/08/2019 16:39

39% increase in traffic to FWR.

Now 246,000 visitors per month v 177,000 last year (I recall someone saying this is unique visitors but not sure).

Sorry don't know how to link it better!

jamrollyolly · 17/08/2019 16:41

(That was quoting 2bthatunnoticed)

TinselAngel · 17/08/2019 17:27

What happened to a certain Doctor being investigated by the GMC?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/08/2019 17:49

Hasn't a certain 'lawyer' got dozens of court cases ongoing?

Ereshkigal · 17/08/2019 17:57

Great thread. Let's keep these alive.

ChattyLion · 17/08/2019 19:16

Thank you Jam - and blimey, amazing stats! Glitterball

haggistramp · 17/08/2019 19:23

What's happening to the guardian journalist who was trying to get mother taken off their child's birth certificate. Is that still going through the motions in court?

CarWreck · 14/10/2019 13:22

Updating this thread to link to:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3714849-Sacked-by-the-NSPCC-on-12th-August

James Makings, the NSPCC employee filming himself at work at NSPCC in fetish gear and masturbating in the toilets, was quietly sacked in August.
