MNHQ, we asked if we could have petition threads in FWR, considering this is an area of the site dedicated to politics and campaigning.

You said no, because you're worried the site will be overrun by zillions of petition threads.

Therefore, this is a compromise suggestion. We'd like to have a single thread within FWR, where we can talk about news related to petitions and link to the Petitions board and elsewhere.

In FWR we love not only to sign petitions but to talk about them. This is an important topic for us.

If we have a single thread, the place won't get cluttered up, we can keep our chat about petitions here.

But, hardly anyone knows the Petitions board exists. If we just post there, and can't link from FWR, no one will see them. It's a place of tumbleweed.

Please, MNHQ, let this thread stand.

Oh wow, I had no idea there was a petitions board! I only ever visit this feminist chat section. I think the idea of having a single thread with all the petitions on this board would be a good one. I hope the admin are willing to find a compromise.

It's calling for an inquiry into Stonewall's lobbying activities and about teaching resources aimed at increasingly hard-pressed schools - which make my hair stand on end. Such 'information' as 'some, but not all, boys have penises and some, but not all, girls have vaginas'... from the Allsorts Toolkit.

Louise Moody is working at getting to grips with Twitter's ingrained misogyny and female-centred ban hammer. She's starting with a petition but I think we may see more from this campaign for Twitter to uphold sex as a protected characteristic!

Didn’t know there was a Petitions Board! Yes, great idea to have a thread for all petitions here.

This morning there was a thread on here about this petition asking for an inquiry into the influence of groups like Stonewall on government policy. The thread has now disappeared off to the petitions board. Petition is here:

Women Uniting Call On The Government To Protect Our Sex-Based Rights

Women and girls have sex based rights. 'Sex' must not be replaced with 'gender identity'.

We call upon the government, specifically the Rt Hon Elizabeth Truss MP, Minister for Women and Equalities, to commit to the following;

Clarify and further enshrine in law the legal definitions of 'Woman' and 'Sex' in order to make current legislation clear and unambiguous and ensure data used to inform government policy is correctly recorded.

Publish guidance explaining and enforcing the single sex exemptions in the Equality Act 2010.

A new statutory Code of Practice must help everyone be clear on what “single sex” means, as recommended by the Women and Equalities Select Committee in July 2019.

Ensure all new laws, amendments, and policies are assessed for their impact on 51% of the population, women and girls.

Is Liz Truss about to deliver what we asked for?

If the Sunday Times front page is a fair reflection of what Liz Truss intends to deliver in July, then we are about to achieve most of what we have asked for in our petition!

But now is not the time to rest; email your MP to say you support Liz Truss saying NO to Self ID and YES to single sex spaces, and ask them to support it too.

Ask your MP to pass on to the Prime Minister and to Liz Truss how pleased you were to see the government standing up for women and children. Don't wait, it only takes minutes!

I too find it difficult to find my way around FWR and wasn't aware there is a petitions site.

Posts get deleted if you post Petitions anywhere else on the site but without regular nudges it is easy to forget the Petitions Board exists even if you ever knew about it in the first place 😢
