Any Irish feminists who might be interested... Classic hits replay of the Niall Boylan show from today. JY talking about her case.

I love that guy's non time for nonsense attitude! I wish more interviewers took lessons from him in this issue.

He managed to do it with a jovial sound too, whereas I'd just have been in a rage! Grin

OvaHere · 22/07/2019 22:49

The majority trans community opinion seems to be yes JY is dodgy but don't you dare misgender them bigot! A few have taken the defence of JY a bit further and many are trying to pretend it's not happening.

AncientLights · 22/07/2019 22:54

Happy birthday Borntobequiet Flowers.

I haven't heard it as I seem to have lost the ability to access you tube for some reason but will re-try. It seems incredible to me that JY has gone ahead with trying to get that 'all bodies swim' thing going again after the pastings (metaphorical & literal, according to JY) recently. Never learns.

Deadringer · 22/07/2019 23:15

I think Niall Boylan must be a mumsnetter.

AutumnCrow · 22/07/2019 23:16

I've just listened to it. It's very clear that JY said 'No' when asked if women have the right to say no to handling male genitals against their wishes.

magicstar1 · 22/07/2019 23:27

I just burst out laughing when the live went dead and NB said “have we lost his line...we’ll try and get him back “ Wink

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 22/07/2019 23:32

I just burst out laughing when the live went dead and NB said “have we lost his line...we’ll try and get him back"

I missed that! See, here, NB would have been hounded then fired, then arrested, for the violent crime of misgendering. Sounds like things aren't so batshit in Ireland.

rabbitwoman · 22/07/2019 23:40

Hmmmm.....

So what if a woman wants a Brazilian, asks for a lady waxer, turns up to find the waxer is a transwoman, what if she then refuses to have the treatment, would she still be obliged to pay for it as a late cancellation or what?

And what if jy booked his lady waxer, and turned up the find a transwoman beautician, would he refuse to be waxed? And if the transwoman beautician refused to wax male genitalia because they are a woman and don't want to touch penis..... What if the beautician is actually a transman?

Hmmmmmm...... I liked the old system, can't we just go back to that?

Iggypoppie · 23/07/2019 00:15

@rabbitwoman I nearly spat my cocoa out, those are some interesting scenarios. I agree the whole thing is nonsense. Bio sex has got to be enshrined in law as the basis for decisions like these.

WhereYouLeftIt · 23/07/2019 00:41

Loved that interview.

Especially at 10.34 - 10.40

"I mean, look - you identify as a woman, that's fine, and I respect that, for the purposes of this interview and the purposes of this show."

And yes, Jessica did say that women don't have the right to say no.

DublinCrone · 23/07/2019 00:46

OMG I can't believe they went on live radio, nevermind the bloody Niall Boylan show!!!

People should be warned about the seemingly 'innocent' Irish sounding accent, that lulls the unsuspecting into a false sense of security. Niall sounds harmless and a bit gormless, but is anything but.

(By the way, I know this is hilarious on some level, but FFS, this is the End of Days stuff folks. )

GirlDownUnder · 23/07/2019 00:47

@miri1985 hope you don't mind I've lifted your transcript for the JY waxing twitter thread, I did name check you and offer bribes of WineThanks
Hope that's ok.

More people see this the better, and looking at news sites this morning (well morning in the downunder) JY has gone global. Grin

owlonabike · 23/07/2019 00:49

One of the many things I can’t get over is how inarticulate JY is. They’ve been putting their case in a court situation for days so you’d think they’d have their argument tripping off the tongue by now. It’s almost as if they were hearing every one of the interviewer’s points for the very first time.
It’s all very odd.

miri1985 · 23/07/2019 00:50

No problem @GirlDownUnder

Was doing my best Elsie impression

DublinCrone · 23/07/2019 00:50

ps

At the end, Niall said "have we lost his line there? ...we'll try and get him back..." before switching back to using 'she'.

wow. just wow.
I wonder what it would have been like on Gerry Ryan's Ryan Line! Grin

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 23/07/2019 00:52

There were males too but they provided fake information

Imagine that! Grin

WhereYouLeftIt · 23/07/2019 00:54

Yes, I would love to know more about the male waxers he contacted. And what information did they provide that was fake?

WeirdWoman · 23/07/2019 00:59

dons hard hat

I feel really bad for Yaniv. From the interviews, the tweets, etc, they is clearly very unwell.

I used to think they was a troll, but it’s clear that they is actually quite ill.

Even worse, it doesn’t seem that anyone is going to step in and help Yaniv. Yaniv’s supporters will support Yaniv no matter what.

There are no winners here.

Deadringer · 23/07/2019 00:59

Yes owl jy was remarkably inarticulate, they can hardly string a sentence together, unbelievable really that they have managed to get their case so far.

GirlDownUnder · 23/07/2019 01:26

WeirdWoman you don’t need a hard hat with me, cos I do get where you’re coming from, because if you’re new to JY this perceived pile on could look awful.

JY has got away with a lot for a very long time. He was protected by Twitter and Ogre, who also validated them, and both fed the delusion that JY could act with impunity.

Before I started to watch JY (because of the waxing cases), and back track on their history I would sometimes feel a twinge of pity because JY is very good at appearing vulnerable. That coupled with female socialisation is probably why so many young girls even entertained the conversations they did with JY.

I’m not sure how much you’ve read about JY but when I need reminding of what kind of predator is being given a platform to abuse women, I read these.

I think feeling sorry for people like JY is what got us all into this mess in the first place.

I don't see vulnerability at all, I see pure manipulation. Manipulators use our empathy against us and that's why this person has managed to get so far - nobody was willing to call out their shocking, inappropriate, predatory behaviour for fear of being called names or 'upsetting' them. Same with all the other TRAs - they use women's empathy against us to get access to our spaces because we feel sorry for them after they've played the victim. Then they turn around, try to claim they are women whilst trying to rename us as a subcategory of women, try to make it illegal for us to describe our bodies, our biology, try to get laws changed which benefit them and directly harm us, steal out scholarships, funding and on and on. We have to be aware of manipulators and predators trying to use the empathy of others for their own gain.

This person probably has a disorder like NPD causing delusions of grandeur, low to no empathy, manipulative behaviour etc. Lots of people have mental health problems, it doesn't excuse such atrocious behaviour.

DanaPhoenix · 23/07/2019 03:31

Oh WeirdWoman there is absolutely nothing wrong with feeling empathy it's a natural human emotion (well for most of us) you should be aware though that those that display empathy are the most likely to be targeted by sociopaths, narcissists and other assorted abusers.... I've learned that through experience, I hope you never have to.

JY is revelling in all the attention. What is it two radio interviews so far since the ban was lifted? I was listening to a true crime podcast the other day about Mick Philpott (whose horrific crimes are no doubt familiar to those in the UK) what struck me was the similarity in seeking media attention even when it's negative. Such narcissism....
Surely a simple media release statement and a retreat from social media would be a typical response in this situation? I wonder why they haven't taken this route?

It's a shame that the videos of the hearing have to be taken so discreetly. Because I can guarantee that if JY's face was clearly visible their inability to hide their "duper's delight" would be plainly evident.
JY did actually show this at one point in a video where the member clarifies that there is upper limit to monetary compensation.... that coquettish giggle JY responds with? Duper's Delight writ large.

DanaPhoenix · 23/07/2019 03:32

Should read NO upper monetary limit obviously

DonkeySkin · 23/07/2019 05:40

I think feeling sorry for people like JY is what got us all into this mess in the first place.

Great post, AnotherAdultHumanFemale.

I wish I could c+p it into every comments section of every article that goes on about 'poor, vulnerable trans women'. Women are having our compassion used against us by manipulative, narcissistic men who have a chilling inability to empathise with us, while the world commands us to 'be kind' to these men.

And as you point out, it's not just Yaniv. It's the entire movement. Trans activists demand endless sympathy from women while displaying a sociopathic disregard for women's safety and wellbeing.
