Misandry is a real word

This debate has always interested me. I read a very convincing article about ten years ago, written by a man, explaining why misandry isn't a real word. He listed the etymology and history of the word and so on. He was also an excellent writer and I admire good writing. I can't find the article. I will look again for it.

In searching for it, I came across a men's rights activism forum where they're discussing a thread by the title of "Misandry is a Real Word"

news.mensactivism.org/articles/02/01/02/1631228.shtml

Personally I'm with the writer of the article, but the men's rights activism forum make a convincing argument

How very dare you LassOfFyvie say that a woman who only wants females around her in birth, is a female equivalent to a misogynist.

If you don't understand the meaning of the hatred in the word misogyny then do I have to start bringing examples onto this thread, of the things misogynists do to women?

Are we really going to have to go there?

Stop twisting things Sakura. You said far more than merely expressing an opinion that you only wanted to have female attendants. And no- one said you shouldn't.

I will not be replying to anything else on this thread. You might like to bear in mind however that the blogger you spoke so approvingly of on your ante- natalist thread is so extreme and so irrational she is a gift to MRAs. Many of your posts are in the same vein.

I'm hiding this thread now as it's a waste of time.

Agree completely Lass.

You are STILL lying and twisting, I see.
I was on that thread too and not a one, not a single one said you were over-reacting for wanting females around you, even though you cannot see that (or deliberately don't want to, who knows)

Did you hell as just say about females round you anyway, there was a heck of a lot more on to it than that.

I don't usually bring up past threads but seeing as you're still lying and twisting what that thread said on this one, I'm mentioning it.

You're the one who started a thread about misogyny and if it's a real thing/word.
Lass gave you some examples, including a lot of your own posts, and now you seem to be getting snotty about it? Confused

RosesAndRaindrops · 22/07/2019 11:37

thread about misandry that should read!

You must have missed my update, just underneath it said it was meant to read misandry.

LassOfFyvie

top twisting things Sakura. You said far more than merely expressing an opinion that you only wanted to have female attendants. And no- one said you shouldn't.

Yes I expressed why I wanted only women. Went into a lot of detail about that because my preference for women was scrutinized. Is it normal to scrutinize a woman's preference for women for intimate medical procedures and birth?

I had to them explain why I don't want men. I said they might be pornsick, just to give one example.

So was that being mean to men?

Best eradicate that dastardly misandry on mumsnet

I said I didn't want men to assist me at birth for lots of reasons. Because I'm suspicious of their reasons for entering the profession, after the NSPCC guy was found tweeting that the best part about his job at Ann summers was that he got to make women feel uncomfortable. The best bit, he said.
I said I'd heard that brothels offered pregnant women, sometimes for gangbangs, and what if my obstetrician was doing that in his private time. Or watching medical porn.

So mean aren't I

OP posts:
sakura184 · 22/07/2019 12:42

I also think I mentioned that doctor who cut off over a hundred women's breasts even though they didn't have cancer because he just wanted to. Maybe it was his fetish or something. Anyway, I said what if my doctor gave me unnecessary medical procedures because that was his "thing"

Aaarrgghhh · 23/07/2019 02:40

Oh good lord. I think you need to step away from mumsnet and just have a lie down or something.

Erythronium · 23/07/2019 08:19

Yes, those are absolutely valid reasons for not wanting a male HCP.

Lots of men use porn and we hear of male HCPs doing much, much worse to women. It's always said on here that we can't spot the predators and medical authorities are useless at weeding them out, so why take the risk?
