Is this what walking the dog means now?

I was out yesterday with some friends and we were standing outside the venue we’d been to, on the Mall, so central London at about 3pm.

A group of about 30 or so men, accompanied by a couple of police officers walked by, and I was extremely taken aback to realise that it was some sort of pup fetish walk. In masks, with tails, on leads. Some of them were being walked “roughly” for want of a better word - let’s just say I would never yank my dog’s lead like that.

I was really uncomfortable, knowing what I know about this particular fetish. Is this now OK, to literally parade your fetish down the high street in broad daylight? Does the fact that no one was naked make it ok? What is the point of the march ? Because I can only see it as an attempt to normalise sexual behaviour in public places, and I’m not ok with that.

My friends thought it was kind of harmless fun, and that I’m a joyless old prude. I’m actually starting to get really concerned about the pressure for people to be welcoming of any old sexual behaviour in any context. Cui bono- who benefits when we break down the barriers of public and private behaviour? (Or in this case, cui bonio I suppose).

Thoughts?

Carole, looking at that website, yes it is.

FannyCann · 14/07/2019 13:12

Isn't there a law against "offending public decency"? Has that law been suspended now we are no longer allowed to kink shame?

Whatsnewpussyhat · 14/07/2019 13:12

And you have to wonder about the menu choice for “The Spit Roast sit down and dine event at 14.00 today
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

My mother (90) loves a trip to Cote. She, and I, would be appalled if we found a group like this at the next table. I hope they've closed to the general public, they can expect much outrage if not

Just looked at their website- tables are available to book this afternoon.

RosaWaiting · 14/07/2019 13:28

kendodd I missed your post

I’m beginning to think my dream of moving out of London to a nice green area is not going to be that great. Yours is not the first of this type of comment I’ve heard.

Why must people spoil everything? Can’t we have a women’s prude communal mansion and grounds somewhere?!

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 14/07/2019 14:45

I saw a video just this week of our dear old Jrubbercub of the NSPCC. It's him and some mates and their trip to a fetish shop.

The mates never unmask themselves from the full-head puppy masks from the start to end, including when they are in public. Rubbercub has what looks to be some kind of hooded/masked rubber clothing on but the hood is back.

It seems like s a key part of the fetish is the kicks they get from doing it in public. How that makes them any different to (say) a man masturbating in the park I don't know.

animaginativeusername · 14/07/2019 16:02

I didn't think there were many participants, only became aware of this fetish from preacher. But I assume this is what you saw. Definitely agree, some boundaries should be maintained,

Hmmm. If I decide I’m into Kitten Play, can I go to sleep at work then vomit on my bosses desk without being made to feel bad about it?

* J*ust looked at their website- tables are available to book this afternoon.

Even if they were corralled into a private room - imagine going to the loo and bumping into one of these on the way out. Shock

Though it's interesting they chose Côte as it's a very middle class middle aged middle of the road chain. Is that the demographic of the pups?

Claverham 'gimp suit' man terrifies woman in village

"While we're keeping an open mind about the motive for these incidents, it's clear the individual responsible is deliberately attempting to cause alarm to the men and women he's approaching"

Could someone explain why the totally redundant words I've highlighted were included in the police statement? At this point we can safely assume bad intent.

LassOfFyvie · 14/07/2019 23:25

Kitten Play- is a thing although no where near as grim and it features women. There is a clip on BBC 3 of a young woman explaining what she gets out of it.

I'm not going to post a link as it's very sad and she is being exploited.

sakura184 · 15/07/2019 00:04

The police . Ugh. They're really not on women's side are they

Singlenotsingle · 15/07/2019 00:07

Takes all sorts! HmmConfused

plattercake · 15/07/2019 08:08

How the hell have we got to this.. no, its OK, don't need to answer that... :(

The 'owners' also really disturb me. Perhaps more so. What kind of person can be either so easily fooled or manipulated into humiliating and controlling another person in this extreme way by perhaps believing 'this is harmless' or 'it helps them', or at the other extreme does so knowing full well what they are doing. Both are a really horrible kind of co-dependence.

It just reminds me that for this type of thing to exist, it take the facilitators and enablers too.. just as with the trans ideology.

And from a brief look after the rubbercub story, some of these people are parents and the 'lifestyle' happens in front of their children.

This cycle of abuse and perversion endlessly messing up people's heads has got to end.

OvaHere · 15/07/2019 10:44

plattercake

It reminds me of this sad case from last year. A lot of abuse seems to be deflected and covered up via 'kink shaming'. The young man in the blow article was according to many quite a vulnerable person (possibly on the spectrum).

This is just .... Seriously?

truthisarevolutionaryact · 15/07/2019 19:13

LassOfFyvie
I noticed that comment from the police. My take on it is that the police have been in receipt of the grooming / training from trans groups where they have been fully inducted into the 'fetish and kinks are normal and to be welcomed by absolutely everyone (and it would be great if a few of you could be photographed at Pride holding leads of some of the participants ). Thanks ever so much'

I am not surprised that the woman was terrified after that encounter.

SophoclesTheFox · 15/07/2019 21:16

This is just .... Seriously?.

Yes, seriously. This happened, this is a thing, this is apparently what passes for socially acceptable public behaviour now.

I read about the Jack Chapman/noodles and beef story a while back- very distressing.

Ereshkigal · 15/07/2019 22:00

Wow that "Noodles and Beef" story is awful.

plattercake · 15/07/2019 23:05

Awful story Ova :( humanity really is plumbing the depths these last few decades.

plattercake · 15/07/2019 23:13

I should say that obviously there have always been some particular terrible lows, but that technology and modern science just seems to give us (men) more ways to be abusive and harmful.
