Maverique is a thing appatently. Maverick obviously sounds too masculine so they made it sound French and funky. There's a flag too!

gender.wikia.org/wiki/Maverique

Maverique (pronounced mav-reek) is a specific nonbinary gender identity "characterized by autonomy and inner conviction regarding a sense of self that is entirely independent of male/masculinity, female/femininity or anything which derives from the two while still being neither without gender nor of a neutral gender." Maverique is not close to a female or male gender, and is not like a mix of them; the identity goes beyond the entire scope of the gender binary or any identities within and outside of it. It is independent of the entire concept of the gender binary, including other non-binary identities that are derived from comparison with binary genders. It also isn't a lack of gender, or an apathetic attitude about gender. Maverique is strictly a gender identity, not a gender expression, so "how a maverique person chooses to express or present themself is entirely up to that individual." Maverique is not an umbrella term, but a specific gender identity.

History

In 2014, Vesper H. (queerascat) created the word "maverique" to describe their own gender. The word comes from "maverick" and the French suffix "-ique," and can be used as a noun ("some maveriques") or an adjective ("some maverique people").
Difference from other genders

Maverique is similar to, but not the same as, other nonbinary identities such as aporagender, neutrois, or gendermaverick. Maverique is not a lack of a gender identity, so it isn't the same as agender or genderless. Unlike ethnic nonbinary gender identities such as Two-Spirit and third gender, maverique is not an identity exclusive to any ethnic group. Anyone of any ethnic background can take up the word maverique for themselves, if they feel that it describes them. It's never cultural appropriation.

Among all the Speshul people somebody had to try to make themselves that much more of a wanker more speshul.

Sounds to me like "I'm anything I say I am, anytime, anyplace, anywhere" but I'm always going to be speshul and full of hurty feelz whatever anybody says to me.

NotTerfNorCis · 28/06/2019 14:28

I am sputnique, but only on alternate Thursdays.

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 28/06/2019 14:37

"how a maverique person chooses to express or present themself is entirely up to that individual."

Given that gender is a social construct imposed on each individual or group, and that the way I choose to express or present myself is entirely up to me, I'm clearly maverique.

Cool.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 28/06/2019 15:01

"how a maverique person chooses to express or present themself is entirely up to that individual."

Just like every other human being on the planet then.

TildaKauskumholm · 28/06/2019 15:03

Well I couldn't be arsed to read that description but I would like to meet a person who uses that term - what fun could be had by getting them (or most likely him) to explain it while I roll my eyes so hard they practically fall out.....

MockerstheFeManist · 28/06/2019 15:19

Getting a Madonna earworm:

Last night, I learnt a new gender...

Aaarrgghhh · 28/06/2019 18:16

The Barclays app with the rainbow annoyed me too. I don’t understand why business need to adopt the colours? I mean I know that Barclays sponsors the pride bit changing the logo? Really?

OneOfOurOwn · 28/06/2019 18:34

Reads like a perfume ad.

Lamaha · 28/06/2019 18:42

How can someone be “neither without gender nor of a neutral gender” while at the same time being “entirely independent of male/masculinity, female/femininity or anything which derives from the two”

Actually, it sounds much like the state someone is in who has attained the spiritual goal known as Samadhi or Nirvana in Eastern cultures.

Except it isn't.
Any similarity is entirely coincidental.

CantspellWontspell · 28/06/2019 18:51

Oh to have that much time on my hands.

StrangeLookingParasite · 30/06/2019 03:03

Perhaps I'm parasitique.

Bezalelle · 30/06/2019 06:43

Quelle pile de bolleaux.

OneEndedStick · 30/06/2019 06:48

That whole gender gender description translates to me as:

More 'uniquorn' than anybody else, ever. Must be allowed nto whichever showers, toilets, change rooms they like, at any given time, no matter how they present at that time, because only they themselves can truly see their internal gender.
Oh the tragedy. An observable gender, ne'er to be seen not affirmed by teh cis. Keep battling on, brave and gentle gender warriors!

auldcraw · 30/06/2019 20:34

I'm pathetique
Looking for the sympathy vote

YouJustDoYou · 30/06/2019 20:38

Sorry, my soul got too tired after the start of the explanation

TheBullshitGoesOn · 30/06/2019 20:54

I occasionally play with an online IT jargon generator - it create meaningless sentences using IT buzzwords. which are sometimes difficult to distinguish from actual IT communications that are supposed to be meaningful

That mavrique description has clearly been generated by an equivalent pomo one. But making even less sense.

MrsJamin · 30/06/2019 21:41

Just makes me think of . What they thought would happen to fashion in Zoolander has instead happened to concepts of gender.

Mummoomoocow · 30/06/2019 21:49

I completely understand what it means, honestly, it’s literally saying fuck you to all the other “genders” and saying that they’re not a gender but a human being, someone that doesn’t need gender to define how they choose to express themselves in gender ways

I’m a maverique and so is every other feminist on this website that’s gc

TemporaryPermanent · 30/06/2019 21:51

Yes One, I thought it must be like Lentheric.

Never liked Tweed myself.

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 30/06/2019 22:21

Not so long ago being a goth or emo was enough to prove to the world you were "different." Now they are all fighting to out-identify one another with their made up nonsense.

"That's nice dear. Now, could you check the cat's litter tray please? I thought I heard her in there a few minutes ago."

SpitefulBreasts · 01/07/2019 00:26

To use littlbrowndog's very descriptive expression.
It's just a load of floaty bollocks.
It means nothing at all, it's a word salad to express how speshul they are, whoever they are.
Floaty bollocks.

TheBullshitGoesOn · 01/07/2019 09:22

One genuine question.

If gender is more important to categorise people than sex (obviously I don't believe that, but that it what the genderists say) then how is it remotely possible to categorise people on that mishmash of terms? Which facilitates should someone who is squidgender use?

It is neither useful nor practical to base things on gender. Even if you believe in it.

scorpio32 · 01/07/2019 09:56

I am magnifique. I'm magnificent and I don't give a fuck what gender you think I am.
