The pause to the GRA changes in Scotland have happened because women galvanised and created a grass roots movement.

Mumsnet is one of the very few places where women could share ideas, opinions and reflections on the loss of our rights.

So, thank you, Mumsnet. I know that the focus of this place is, ultimately, business - but, your business has helped a very good thing happen and I am hopeful that the ramifications of yesterday's events in Holyrood will lead to proper social change for women, whether they have the good sense to be on here or not.

There are amazing women here. I have learned so much and gained so much from a place where I was supposed to, apparently, talk about prams.

Heartfelt thanks from me too.

HandsOffMyRights · 21/06/2019 23:04

Thanks too. Been on here 14 years and only ventured to FWR a year ago after being horrified by the GRA plans. So many great voices on here, I think it was reading Datun's articulate posts that brought me from being a casual observer to realising the severity of the current climate.

This is my go to resource whenever I need to research a topic.

RaininSummer · 21/06/2019 23:12

Adding my thanks MN. I have learned much, met some amazing people and am so glad that we have somewhere to talk, share ideas and learn even if we have to choose our words ridiculously carefully so as not to enrage the deluded ones.

Thanks from me too.
I know you walk a tightrope - I appreciate you even trying.

Oh me too with bells on. Came here for a look after Owen Jones said it was full of bigots & transphobes. I stayed for the wit, intelligence, knowledge, thoughtfulness & solidarity. Awesome place. Thanks MN.

Mumsnet is one of a handful of places, on or off line, that parents of children affected by sudden onset GID can speak honestly about their family's experience, without punishment.

For that, I consider Mumsnet to be advertising itself as 'by parents, for parents' truthfully. Thank you Mumsnet.

I might wish for greater freedom of speech in FWR, but that does not blind me to the face that the site itself allows sudden onset GID perspectives.

Fact not face

NowtSalamander · 22/06/2019 01:44

I’m normally the sarky type but you have saved me in so many ways over the years since my children were born, I’m unable to be anything other than sincere about how deeply grateful I am to you all.

I ve lost count of the number of friends and colleagues I've recommended MN to over the years. I often get a raised eyebrow, but I tell them 'it's where all the cool women hang out' and a hefty % wander on for a look and stick around.

Late to the party (as ever) but I want to add my thanks to MNHQ. You've held your nerve against some vile, determined bullies, and you've carved out a unique open-access space for people to share concerns and learn. The well-argued posts by thoughtful, intelligent women on this board, and the sharing of information and links, were invaluable to me in getting up to speed with the debate, and I come here almost every day for updates and new information and arguments. So it's a great big thank-you from me to MNHQ and the many posters on this board.

WaltzingOutinBlueandRed · 22/06/2019 10:15

Big thanks from me, too, to Mumsnet and all who post on her - especially in FWR. I used to post years ago, but have been reading and lurking and learning...You are all fabulous: this is a great board full of intelligent, articulate, compassionate and determined women. Now I've de-lurked I hope to contribute to your discussions.

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 22/06/2019 10:23

I'm glad to have a place where I can converse with so many amazing women, who have together made good things happen for women and children's rights.

I do wish that so many great women hadn't been banned for speaking the truth though. I still miss thebewilderness and many more.

When WILL they learn to stop signposting women over here?

It’s a bit like the ‘educate yourself’ line - educating oneself is a direct route from well-meaning but perplexed ally to terfy mcterfface.

DanaPhoenix · 22/06/2019 11:09

Shoutout for my appreciation also.

If I may add, I’m sure other international mumsnetters will agree, that it has also been an incredibly invaluable resource for us. Whether our country has already submitted or are in the process of similar stealth introduction of laws. It has been both inspiring and educational to see how our brave UK sisters are leading the resistance. Teaching us to to resist and overturn. Thank you all xx.

BatShite · 22/06/2019 11:16

Yeah for all I complain about how strict the moderation on FWR is sometimes, I do also appreciate that MN allowing discussion is a huge huge part of women being finally ABLE to fight back. Its still pretty much the only place on the net that allows discussion varying from 'twaw terf!' so..thanks HQ Flowers

ScrimshawTheSecond · 22/06/2019 18:53

I have turned off my adblocker for mumsnet as a gesture of thanks.

Oh, 21st century living. I remember when I used to give biscuits as a thank you ... now it's more a case of accepting cookies ...
