Cash converters have also dropped London Irish. They tweeted about it and London Irish are trying to say it had nothing to do with paddy, but the tweet shows it does.

I’ll write to Guinness today, help them make their decision.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 11/06/2019 07:46

Might I suggest others write to Guinness too, since they’re meeting with London Irish it would be good to remind them of the damage this association will cause.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 11/06/2019 11:23

Good idea, Jessica, I'll do that today

I don't know the story, but he was acquitted. Is there something dodgy about the verdict?

PierreBezukov · 11/06/2019 11:28

The WhatsApp messages revealed in the trial, between Jackson and others, we're vile and misogynistic.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 11/06/2019 11:54

I don't know the story, but he was acquitted.

If you don’t know the full details, you should probably not comment until you do. Maybe read up on the case as a starting point, which includes evidence of his behaviour and language about women.

twattymctwatterson · 11/06/2019 11:56

Yabbers, it was a ridiculous verdict. That girl left the company of Jackson and his co-accused hysterically crying and visibly bleeding through her clothes. She had lacerations in her vagina, they deleted hundreds of WhatsApp messages when they knew she'd reported it

Ringdonna · 11/06/2019 12:08

Difficult issue in a way as how long should someone be punished for a thoughtless mistake?

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 11/06/2019 12:17

"A thoughtless mistake"? You honestly consider the behaviour of those men on that night a thoughtless mistake?

OP posts:
JessicaWakefieldSV · 11/06/2019 12:40

Ringdonna are you serious? This is not a ‘mistake’. What a gross way to talk about it.

andyoldlabour · 11/06/2019 12:56

Here is an interesting article by a barrister and former senior Northern Irish judge, where he talks about the flaws/faults in the justice system with regard to rape cases, the statistics of victims who never come forward, and the statistics regarding conviction, which are incredibly low.
He also rightly adresses the problem of jurors and others who post details of cases on social media, including personal details of victims.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 11/06/2019 12:58

Good on them. Right decision.

His actions don't need to be proven to be criminal beyond all reasonable doubt for them to be considered completely morally reprehensible. And that's even just going of the guys' testimony, nevermind the victim's.

Hopefully this will give other men pause and stop them behaving in similarly disgraceful, predatory (but apparently not-quite-provable-to-be-criminal) ways.

They do reply.

Outanabout · 11/06/2019 14:03

I love the disingenuous posts, it always makes these threads enjoyable. "I know nothing whatsoever about the case but wasn't he acquitted? Hmmmnnn?"

Ringdonna · 11/06/2019 14:10

Mistake is the wrong word. I think you know what I meant. I certainly think it was wrong, unacceptable on all levels. Hopefully he will learn from it.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 11/06/2019 14:14

Learning to stop assaulting women and changing your entire attitude to them, takes time, if it happens at all. He has not had that time. A person like that should never be in a position of influence or have the platform of a professional rugby player, ever again. It’s entirely inappropriate.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 11/06/2019 14:30

Email to Diageo sent. Thanks for the address above.

I wish I knew why people who post rape apologism and minimization on threads about rape do it. There must be a reason to need to display to the world that you are a really stupid or really creepy or a combination of the two.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 11/06/2019 14:58

Agreed Floral

PickledGulag · 11/06/2019 15:12

That poor woman will live the rest of her life affected by his behaviour, he and his accomplices should do the same.

finnmcool · 11/06/2019 15:59

My rapists got away with what they did because I was too mentally damaged and agoraphobic to go to court. Even though the status was NFA, doesn't mean they were innocent.

I cannot believe that London Irish employed Paddy Jackson. Regardless of the verdict, his treatment of the young woman, his messages on WhatsApp and behaviour after the trial (#suemepaddy) was abhorrent!
London Irish should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 11/06/2019 16:03

finnmcool Flowers I’m sorry that happened to you.

30 years ago I was that girl in the Belfast rape trial, except I didn’t go to court because I could barely remember what they did and everyone was by that stage calling me a slut.

Jackson knows exactly what he did and that it was wrong. He is vile. They all are.

HumberElla · 11/06/2019 16:08

Thoughtless mistake?

This was planned, discussed, horrible messages shared and the whole mob wound themselves up into an excited fever over it. Then they manically deleted evidence to try and cover up as much evidence as possible.

You don’t have to be behind bars to be considered to have utterly reprehensible views, revolting behaviour towards women and so unemployable in a leadership role.

StellarLunar · 11/06/2019 16:12

I've emailed Diageo. Thanks for the link and address
