I'm up at Fort William watching the Downhill cycling this weekend.

Taking 5th place in Women's qualifying today was the rider from NZ.

Watching it in real life was chilling especially as so many of the female riders are tiny in comparison. Just awful.

"When is the final does anyone know?"

That was yesterday, and Weatherly finished 6th.

The comments on this article clearly shows that a majority think it is unfair that Weatherly is competing in the women's category.

Bespin I’ve reported your comment from 01/06 at 23.44 as it struck me as being so “not in the spirit”.

The fact you feel able to so freely demonstrate your sheer contempt for women, women’s sports, women’s justified concerns right here on FWR is saddening.

How MNHQ will respond is of course out of my hands, but I think you have just proved yourself beyond the shadow of a doubt to be profoundly anti-woman, whatever claims you might make for yourself.

Girlofgold · 03/06/2019 14:39

Cheat.

FermatsTheorem · 03/06/2019 23:22

I think Bespin's comment should be left to stand. Always useful for the lurkers to know exactly what a low regard AWA hold women in.

eliope · 04/06/2019 11:07

I'm home and dried out, yes, kw finished in 6th with a time that would not have seen them qualify in the mens.

A mediocre bike park rider competing against the top female riders in the world.

Rachel Atherton, I think I'm correct would have been placed around 158th in the mens category just to give you an idea.

On reflection, I agree with you, Fermats. A little bit of sunlight never goes amiss.

And as MNHQ replied to me, the comment was rightly challenged on here (and shown up for the casual goady misogyny it is, IMO).

Good thread, eliope.

Can we put Bespin's post through the Barracker-pronouns-app. [a male cyclist] totally dominating in 5th place out of 15 [female riders] yep scarey lol

lol not really that 'lol', and yep, really scarey, when you reframe it into reality

pombear · 05/06/2019 21:57

My last post didn't appear. (Trying again, unless it's been removed swiftly due to breaking pronoun rules)

Ten women 'dominated' by a man who placed in 5th in the women's race.

Ten women who have trained hard and seriously for that competition.

This is not a 'lol-ing' matter.

Belated agreement here. Anyone curious about "what's all the fuss?" this is a part of it right here. No concern for female people prevented a chance to compete fairly. Derision for the women who point out this injustice.

eliope · 10/06/2019 14:06

Round 2 in Leogang, Austria. kw on the podium taking 3rd place from Marine Cabirou who had a crash and came 0.2 precious seconds behind.

One of the most telling things is the way that female competitors include, mention, support each other on their social media but none of that from kw.

The Fort William race is on iplayer on The Adventure show and was shown a couple of days ago. Being the BBC they didn't mention Weatherly was trans.Weatherly came 5th in the qualifier and and 6th in the main run on the Sunday. Weatherly does have a more female shape than McKinnon but still shouldn't be there.

Agreed. The lol was particularly telling.
