I'm up at Fort William watching the Downhill cycling this weekend.

Taking 5th place in Women's qualifying today was the rider from NZ.

Watching it in real life was chilling especially as so many of the female riders are tiny in comparison. Just awful.

Not many people would know what a grey rock means, I wouldnt if I hadn't come across it on MN. What would be the significance if you held it up? Genuine question...

LolaSmiles · 02/06/2019 15:40

It's amazing how many average athletes who are biologically male magically develop a 'girl brain' when it allows them to win.

All the men I participate with in sport have said they'd be bloody embarrassed to compete or win against women because it's cheating and not in the spirit of sport. They'd rather be midfield in the correct categories (age, weight, sex etc depending on sport) than win by cheating. It would seem that many men in sport don't believe the new world order either.

GassyAss · 02/06/2019 16:35

Outandabout I was not serious. Can you imagine getting a grey rock printed on a sign. Grin Maybe a t-shirt. Just drawing a line between two narcissist athletes competing in women’s sports.

GassyAss · 02/06/2019 16:37

BTW KW came 5th overall. Race write up is here. No mention of KW. Just coincidence?

TheadReaper · 02/06/2019 16:43

Personally I’m looking forward to attending the World Masters Cycling Championship in October. Not sure whether I should boo the cheater or just hold up a poster of a grey rock.

Good on you @GassyAss What does the poster of a grey rock mean though?
Sorry if I'm being a bit dim Blush

Here are the results from the latest event at Fort William. It should be noted that this is Kate Weatherley's first event since March because of ligament injury. Kate was a very average male rider until becoming a "laydee" last year. In Kate's category - Elite Women - in New Zealand, very few other riders are bothering competing against them.
We shouldn't forget, that these are the best women athletes in the World at this event.

Last year, Kate started off their competition against the women, with five straight wins, including the New Zealand national championships.

As far as I am concerned, the sporting authorities have totally lost the plot allowing the likes of Kate Weatherley et al to compete in the women's category.

andyoldlabour · 02/06/2019 16:59

GassyAss

I know what I would be doing with a "grey rock".

HumberElla · 02/06/2019 17:08

Well done Mikayla, for coming in the top 15 women!

truthisarevolutionaryact · 02/06/2019 17:15

Goodbye women's sport Sad

FloralBunting · 02/06/2019 17:33

I'd like to thank our intermittent trans visitor for so swiftly getting in the mocking laughter about women being pushed out of their own sports by mediocre men. It's always useful to get down to brass tacks quickly, lest any passing lurker be fooled into thinking that Trans-Activists care one tiny bit about women's spaces, rights, sports or anything else.

Let that galvanize you, dear lurking women, to be prepared not to give away one solitary inch to people who care so little about you.

misscockerspaniel · 02/06/2019 18:30

What is it with cycling? Another one with cuckoo syndrome (symptoms include a massive sense of entitlement to another's space)

Outanabout · 02/06/2019 18:53

Interesting that Bespin knew how many would qualify

ChattyLion · 02/06/2019 19:34

Kate is the only athlete from NZ competing in the Elite Women's category.

I hadn’t realised that. So not just competing against women despite a male physical advantage- but literally ousting women entirely from the chance to compete in their own competitions.

There’s something very wrong here if some competitors performing gender stereotypes in a certain way is enough to put their other (female) competitors out of work.

Loopytiles · 02/06/2019 19:35

Katie is cheating

Loopytiles · 02/06/2019 19:36

Shame on the cycling authorities

FermatsTheorem · 02/06/2019 19:39

Cheat cheat cheat cheat cheat.

dancingcamper · 02/06/2019 19:46

Oh but didn't you read the interview? Weatherly is more fearless than the female competitors and they will learn how to attack the bumps (or something like that) by watching them and hence get better.

I am sure Shania Rawson really appreciates Weatherly demonstrating this and doesn't mind missing out on her chance to represent NZ at all.

thenightsky · 02/06/2019 21:15

Sick of these fucking cheats.

OtepotiLilliane42 · 03/06/2019 00:24

I've posted this article before on a thread discussing transgender athletes, and it's worth posting again I think for the comments below from Shania Rawson's father.

Ash Rawson, a nine-time national BMX champion and current development coach, is scathing of the Cycling NZ policy and the way the organisation has handled Weatherly's case."There's a massive lack of communication with the athletes and a lack of sympathy for the ladies concerned - this is doing nothing for women's downhill," Rawson says. When he got in touch with Cycling NZ to question its decision, they said Shania should focus on her own performance. "We were pretty much told to just deal with it. I have nothing against transgenders, that goes without saying, but fairness in sport is what we're all about.[Kate] has developed as a male as far as bone structure, bone density, muscle mass, lung capacity - it's why we have gender sports. Cycling NZ took Shania overseas as a junior and she fears that if there is only funding for one person, she will miss out on selection for world events, her father says. "Sponsors are also a concern. They're like, 'um, we thought you were going to take this out, and now you're 20 seconds off'."He, too, wants to see a separate category for transgender riders, so they can be included in the sport without causing friction

OrchidInTheSun · 03/06/2019 07:44

I posted a link to that article earlier on the thread Otepoti - didn't know you posted it before but it is pretty even handed.

Ash and Shania's fears have come true Sad

Outanabout · 03/06/2019 08:40

NZ are shameless when it comes to women's sports. Australia tried - without success IIRC - to prevent NZ entering their champion weightlifter for the Commonwealth Games. Eventually it didn't matter as injury put them out of the final, but NZ give no fucks about being seen as cheaters, as long as they win.

mabelmylove · 03/06/2019 08:43

Can someone please tell me what a grey rock means?

Outanabout · 03/06/2019 08:46

When I see it in other threads it's referring to a method of dealing with narcissists, by not giving them the reaction they're trying to provoke.

OtepotiLilliane42 · 03/06/2019 09:10

OrchidinTheSun Just read through the thread again and spotted your post which I missed before, so apologies for the double link.

Here is a short interview with Kate Weatherley, which just made me sigh for the abysmal journalism on display from TVNZ.

HairyPotter · 03/06/2019 11:12

Poor Shania. I can’t imagine how she is feeling. To train your whole life and then someone comes along and shoves you out the way because they have ladyfeels.

When is the final does anyone know?
