No Outsiders

What do people think of the No Outsiders programme being taught in schools?
I'm hoping that someone knows more about it than I do, but I wouldn't be happy with my children being taught about TG issues (assuming the slant it will take). The LG bit is fine, IMO.
I'm finding the protests outside schools very interesting. I'm not Muslim, and it's being framed as a religious tolerance issue, when, as I said, I wouldn't be happy with it either.

I commented on No Outsiders' use of 'gender' rather than 'sex'. The comment stayed there for a bit then disappeared. After that none of my comments appeared.

vicviking write to parent power parentpower.family/category/advice/

  • this is very much their line of work and they should be able to advise you. I am so glad my daughter is secondary age! (although she still got her LGBT indoctrination week which we were warned about at the last minute so we couldn't withdraw our children. - it made them all much more anxious about gayness from what I could make out)

I looked at their website but can't seem to work out who they actually are. I am sure they have some useful information wrt law but I am not sure that I would agree with their entire stance.

I have a specific issue with the teaching of trans issues and so will focus on that. I will also keep an eye on the more explicit aspects of RSE for secondary so will keep an eye on that aspect of the syllabus too.

You can comment on AMs resources on line. Just a thought...

No idea if they'll stay however.

I am watching youtube video of Kelly Jay talking to Julia Hartley on Talk TV. Worth watching.
I am too angry and upset to be coherent

jotajil · 20/11/2023 17:27

Look up 'queering the classroom'

Villagetoraiseachild · 20/11/2023 17:40

Kelly has a showing of this at seven tonight on her YouTube channel, followed by a Terf Tallk/discussion.

Villagetoraiseachild · 20/11/2023 20:26

Actually, it wasnt. It was the playing of a recording of KJK advocating for and with a Mum at a meeting with her child's school safe guarding leads.
Around the topic of what she was being taught/the curriculum/framework, lack of female only toilets/pronouns etc.....

@clairemcnam

But I suspect the protests are from parents who do not want their children to be taught that it is normal to be lesbian and gay. So I see this as part of the backlash to increasing rights over the last few decades, for lesbian and gay people.

They could just be against what is seen as "age inappropriate" content in some cases.

But I assume you are correct. Why would that be wrong?

I think schools have a duty to teach "tolerance" in the sense of "no bullying".

I don't think they should have a duty to teach "tolerance" in the sense of "this is the correct moral attitude towards homosexuality".

If you really want that debate, then you need to bring in conservative religious views into school and let them argue that homosexuality is immoral, and give both sides. Better to just avoid that subject.
