What can we do to get Penny's ROGD inquiry moving?

Between the Times "Trans experiment" piece, the publication of the Littman ROGD study, and the inquiries into the same phenomena announced recently in Sweden, someone needs a fire lighting under their arse.

I've just been reading the stories at www.parentsofrogdkids.com/what-we-do and nope, nuh uh, this is not fucking on. I know that's an american site but you can find similar stories on our own LGBT kids board. Many people in this forum have had it happen to them. Seriously, it's bloody obvious what happening here. Any one with a brain can see the patterns, and the attempt to block research just confirms it.

My kids are just babies still but I'm seriously frightened. Like, not sleeping, can't concentrate on anything else, having nightmares levels of frightened for them. For all the children being used as ammo by this insane movement. So come on, she's had since September to piss about over this, how do we get things moving?

No worries proc looked like interesting stuff!

Dying at the thought of Penny attending this. Her bestest ever buds over at Transwall might stop inviting her to parties if she did anything so scandalous.

Pants, meant to be all sent at the same minute, to flood someone's inbox.

Mumfun · 12/05/2019 22:55

My Conservative Minister MP has written to her asking whats going on.

OhHolyJesus · 16/05/2019 14:27

Reply received today, the last para is key I think and does nothing to reassure me about the facts that we should expect at the end of the investigation, but there you go, at least the investigation is in progress or the results are to be expected this year.

Dear OhHolyJesus,

Thank you for your email of xxxx containing a follow-up question about young people and gender dysphoria. I am responding on behalf of the Minister for Women and Equalities.

As previously mentioned, the Government Equalities Office hopes to publish the findings of this research by the end of the year.

We are aware that The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation has seen an increasing number of individuals, particularly people born female, referred to its Gender Identity Development Service in recent years. That is why we have committed to improve our understanding of the impacts on children and adolescents of changing their gender.

We agree that it is important that we have healthy and constructive debate on this topic. It is vital that any debate concerning trans people is conducted in an environment of respect, empathy and pragmatism, as there has been much misinformation on the issues. Ensuring that we can have a safe and tolerant discussion, based on the facts, is paramount.

Yours Sincerely,

Government Equalities Office

Worth ensuring that the speeches from yesterday's meeting in The House of Lords are passed on once they are available.

OldCrone · 16/05/2019 15:13

OhHolyJesus

It's not clear from that reply that the government equalities office understands what they are supposed to be investigating.

That is why we have committed to improve our understanding of the impacts on children and adolescents of changing their gender.

Regarding ROGD, surely what we need to understand is why so many teenage girls suddenly decide they are transgender. Not the 'impact of changing their gender', but why they suddenly think that they need to make that change.

OhHolyJesus · 16/05/2019 15:23

Agreed OldCrone

RO Standing for Women have released a First Do No Harm booklet you can buy and have sent directly to you MP for £2. I'm ordering several!

OhHolyJesus · 16/05/2019 15:24

Can anyone help me word a reply? I want to drill down into the details. Any thoughts I'd be grateful.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 16/05/2019 15:55

OhHolyJesus

A discussion based on facts would be a first for the equalities office - awful patronising letter!

I'd point out that when they say 'people born female' they mean women. And because it gives me the rage I'd ask where they got their authority from to rename a whole sex class? How many women did they consult etc?

I'd agree that it is vital that any debate concerning trans people is conducted in an environment of respect and then I'd ask what are they doing to ensure that the debate about removing women's identity and rights is also conducted in an environment of respect ? Ask for examples of what they have done to ensure people's concerns about the safeguarding of children and the impact of ROGD on girls are being heard and not silenced? Having ranted Grin I'd get to the point and ask for details of the research:
Which organisations / individuals are involved? Names
Qualifications of those involved? Medical? Psychiatry? Psychology? Education? Safeguarding?
Which special interest groups? Any trans lobby groups? Any women's groups? Parents?
Names of those involved?
Stated aims?
Time scale?
Number of meetings
Are minutes being kept? Ask for copies (state if not accessible, can do an FoI request )
Which civil servants are coordinating? What is their role?
And - because I have a bee in my bonnet about this - I'd ask for a reassurance that no civil servants are involved who have previously been involved in removing sex segregated facilities in any government buildings (as they evidently have an existing bias) and won't be neutral.

Just a few thoughts - not sure how helpful it is.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 16/05/2019 15:56

Sorry - that was a bit of a rant Blush

OhHolyJesus · 16/05/2019 16:15

Hi Truth that's all really helpful, sometimes I find it really useful to bounce off others so I can formulate my own ideas. I know PM had a meeting with Mind Trans it whoever they were in the same day so I'm going to send the booklet to her office as well as to my own MP.

I'll get my head together and email my MP too to see if he went after all.

hoodathunkit · 16/05/2019 16:19

I have very serious concerns about the suitability of Penny for the job of defence secretary and women and equalities secretary.

My concerns are related to her promotion of quackery and pseudoscience as current member and former chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Integrated Healthcare, a group worthy of further scrutiny that campaigns for the inclusion of so-called alternative medicine (SCAM) within the NHS.

Of course if a person wishes to spend their money on homeopathy and reflexology it is up to them, however a politician who actively campaigns within parliament for quacks and charlatans to increase their power within the NHS should not be allowed anywhere near sensitive issues regarding the transgender agenda, itself a movement ruled by pseudoscience, illogical thought processes and the exploitation of children and vulnerable adults in unethical experiments.

As for the role of defence secretary, that is even more sensitive and should be carried out by someone with at least a basic grasp of scientific concepts and reality.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 16/05/2019 16:22

Agreed hoodathunkit. I had no idea about her history with alternative medicine . I did wonder how she's manage in charge of Defence - if she can't tell the difference between men and women how on earth will she differentiate between soldiers, sailors and the airforce??

R0wantrees · 16/05/2019 16:28

RO Standing for Women have released a First Do No Harm booklet you can buy and have sent directly to you MP for £2. I'm ordering several!

That's really to know, thank you.

hoodathunkit · 16/05/2019 16:29

truthisarevolutionaryact

agreed 100%

There is an excellent website called Skeptical Voter that maintains a register of politicians and their voting history in relation to woo and pseudoscience

It is an important resource for the skeptically / scientifically minded activists here

Also of concern to me are the Rees-Mogg family who have a long history of supporting the odious racist / anti Semitic doctrines and theories underpinning the Rudolph Steiner movement.

While freedom of belief is a central theme of our democracy it can be used against democracy, especially in relation to the reporting of hate crimes. Criminal networks not uncommonly use a religious disguise to clock their activities and to target dissidents and anti-cult activists as perpetrators of hate crime.

Feminism needs to embrace science and reject pseudoscience as a matter of urgency in my opinion.

I will be posting more about this soon but am very pushed for time right now.

hoodathunkit · 16/05/2019 16:43

This kind of thing

www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-28464009

shows why it is unsurprising that the country is going down the toilet

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 16/05/2019 22:35

I like the sound of Victoria Atkins. She sounds like she might be girls' best (only?) hope.
