Police used ‘violent’ transgender activist for equality training

Feminists have raised fears that the hiring of ‘ideologues’ skews officers’ responses to aggressive behaviour

www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/news/police-used-violent-transgender-activist-for-equality-training-x0mktgclw

Transgender activists with a record of using insulting language or even violence against women have been used for police training in equality and diversity.

Feminists say the use of “ideologues” for police awareness courses may help explain cases of officers dealing harshly with opponents of the transgender cause.

Among the activists used by police is Kellie Maloney, a transgender boxing promoter, who as Frank Maloney tried to strangle his then wife, Tracey.

I think this raises some larger questions about this kind of training. A lot of organisations like the police have been pretty clearly told that they are supposed to be approaching advocacy and other organisations for information on how to deal with various populations or special interest groups. And a lot of the time that seems benign and sensible. But once you consider the possibility that those groups may have a very narrow viewpoint, it seems less clear that it is that is the case.

It's an irresistible opportunity for Plod to achieve the double whammy of being untouchably woke while taking the piss as usual.

ByGrabtharsHammarWhatASaving · 28/04/2019 20:15

I think that's what's in it for many people Persifleur , a chance to have their violent misogyny hang out in public whilst looking progressive. In what other world would you have men assaulting and threatening women whilst calling themselves feminists? It's everything the patriarchy ever wanted.

theOtherPamAyres · 28/04/2019 20:16

I had liked a comment on that article, stating that Mermaids were also heavily involved in police training.....that comment has now been deleted.....strange goings on

I've started calling it the 'controversial charity for parents of trans children". While it takes up a lot of characters, it stays put.

ByGrabtharsHammarWhatASaving · 28/04/2019 20:20

"Maloney, who has since had gender reassignment surgery, said he also “grabbed a couple of [other] people round the neck” in his office. He blamed the frustration of a double life."

Oh that's interesting. A very nice way to excuse your violence and try to explain why calling yourself a woman suddenly stops you being a threat to women. I expect we'll see this phrase popping up a lot more to answer the question of why we should believe MtF won't display male pattern violent behaviour after transition (or "transition" as it's more likely to be).

Ereshkigal · 29/04/2019 19:23

The fucking idiots engaging the services of these people and not doing due diligence to find out what they have to say can fuck off.

As can the idiots defending Maloney on twitter.

theOtherPamAyres · 29/04/2019 20:08

Andrew Gilligan tweeted:

Cheryl Morgan has been training police despite a Katie Hopkins-like tirade against the "terf infestation." Could this help explain why the cops are targeting those who question trans ideology?

Cheryl Morgan is an activist in both Stonewall and the Women's Equality party. She held a workshop at the WEP conference entitled "Busting the Transgender Myths".

Surely the WEP ought to have reprimanded Morgan for using inflammatory anti-women speech? Or does the party agree with Morgan that transwomen are women and gc women are an infestation that needs to be eradicated by Rentokil?

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 30/04/2019 09:06

I've definitely seen a few cases of the "stress of being trans" (or similar) being used to explain/excuse violence. Would need confirming but I seem to remember Jones using this excuse about his* second attack (the attempted rape), and I think also the axe attacker in Sydney?

*allowed to say this about murderous sex offenders!

Doesn't fit in well of course with the narrative the rest of the time that transwomen are no threat to women at all, ever, move along, nothing to see here..

R0wantrees · 30/04/2019 10:38

I've definitely seen a few cases of the "stress of being trans" (or similar) being used to explain/excuse violence

There's definitey been a number of cases where the judge has affirmed/accepted this as mitigation.

ByGrabtharsHammarWhatASaving · 30/04/2019 15:55

I've definitely seen a few cases of the "stress of being trans" (or similar) being used to explain/excuse violence

Should be plenty of corresponding stories about trans men killing and assaulting people through the stress of being trans then... maybe they're in the same place as all the stories about trans men pro athletes or business award winners .

HumberElla · 30/04/2019 19:31

Mark/Karen Jones, who gagged, punched and attempted to rape a woman straight after being released from prison.

They received a reduced sentence because they said the attack was as a cry for help, so that they could go back to prison and have the sex change operation they wanted.

This is the person who is seen by the police as able to advise on ‘best practice’ in the field.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2019 22:11

and I think also the axe attacker in Sydney?

YY. The defence lawyer tried to get a non custodial sentence on the grounds of gender identity confusion and trauma.

'Kellie Maloney hits back' - see what you did there Kent Online Hmm. According to violent wife-assaulting thug Maloney, the ex wife that Maloney assaulted thinks it's a great laugh. (I hate having to write like this).

Maloney says: '"It's not just police, I speak at schools, universities and companies, yesterday I was in Chester for a women's event.'

This event: www.storyhouse.com/event/kellie-maloney-trans-stories

Which also had a panel on DV: www.storyhouse.com/event/love-shouldnt-hurt

How balanced to include a MVAW perp at a women's festival. Why has everyone lost their fucking minds?

Maloney also says in the article: 'schools have spoken to me after talks and said how I've helped pupils who are questioning their gender'.

I am horrified.

severnboring · 02/05/2019 12:45

Argh my post came out garbled with sentences in wrong order. Maybe as there were 3 links so will post seperately.

A search of Kellie Maloney brings this up from 2015: www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2975579/Former-boxing-promoter-Kellie-Maloney-enjoys-night-friends-gay-police-ball-tearful-Ukip-speech.html

'Hundreds danced the night away at the Kent Gay Police Association Charity Ball which raised money for transgender organisation TGPals'

From the Elsa Egret article linked upthread: 'The TG Pals’ support group meetings are called ‘Drab Or Dress’ and TGPals list the meetings on Tvchix, a ‘Tgirl contacts and dating’ site which welcomes ‘ all TV’s, CD’s, TG’s, admirers, their partners and friends’. ‘CD’ is short for ‘cross dresser’, ‘TV’ for ‘transvestite’ and ‘TG’ for ‘transgender’ — ‘dressing’ is a term used by men who crossdress. TGPals are clearly connected to the seedy crossdressing subculture. Of course, crossdressing comes under Stonewall’s capacious ‘trans umbrella’, and ‘transvestite’ under ‘Gender Identity’ for Humberside Police. A sample profile on Tvchix is of ‘a gurl who is a bitch’ whose listed interests include BDSM, kilts, admirers and erotic nights in. Under the ‘Youth Engagement’ heading, their website says: ‘We offer support to young people who can access our peer support groups, the ‘Drab or Dress’. There is no mention of age requirement or need for parental consent or attendance.'

So the police raise money for TGPals and also pay them to come in and train them? Hmm Hmm Hmm

severnboring · 02/05/2019 13:00

'Moving east, Kent Police work with a group called TG Pals, whose members include former boxing promoter Kellie Maloney (another person who calls women ‘terfs’). Maloney has personally delivered training while being a self-confessed domestic violence perpetrator. The following extract is from an interview in the Mirror: ‘the red mist descends. He [Kellie Maloney] snaps and lunges at her [Tracey Maloney, Kellie Maloney’s ex-wife], closing his hands around her neck. He sees fear flood her face. Then their two young daughters burst into the room screaming…’'

Dear god. It's insane that this person is training anyone about anything.

severnboring · 02/05/2019 13:17

From the Mail article, describing Maloney's UKIP speech:'Ms Maloney started her speech by apologising for homophobic comments she made while standing to become London Mayor in 2004. At the time, the high-profile promoter said she would not campaign in Camden because there were 'too many gays'.

Today, Ms Maloney said: 'I have learned to say sorry and apologise if I am wrong.

'I made a terrible mistake in 2004 when I made a derogatory remark about the gay community, and to them I apologise. '

Does this apology from Maloney of UKIP set a precendent I wonder? Will Morgan of WEP be apologising for the terrible mistake of derogatory remarks against the female community? They urgently need to address this, especially in the light of Joanna Cherry's brilliant work yesterday.
