Gender Critical to do list

RepealTheGRA · 07/04/2019 08:13

I haven’t seen one of these for a while so hope it’s OK to start another one?

What are we all supposed to be doing atm?

Write to MP.

Write to women’s aid and ask them wtf they’re doing not providing single sex spaces to vulnerable women.

Check policies at your employer, local council, local schools and ensure they’re listing the protected characteristic of sex.

Check your GP has your sex on file not your gender.

Please post here any actions/petitions/surveys. There must be new lurkers all the time that could do with a steer?

Lurkers please sign in, we need you! Smile

OK.

I have written to my MP - but he is busy crusading for Brexit. I'll get back to him later!

Womens Aid, yes! On my list after that other thread. That has made me very angry!

Council is OK, local schools being worked through - oddly the pre-school is the only one so far!

GP, I hadn't thought to do that....

RIght... thinking cap on for more to do!

SimplyMonstrous · 07/04/2019 08:23

I’ve complained formally using the complaints procedure to my local council about

  • plans to build my new secondary school with gender neutral toilets
  • the transgender school guidance : trans girls allowed in changing rooms, dorms etc
Got a pissy reply so have escalated it to stage 2 where they are meant to “investigate”. Presumably I can go to the Ombusman? I don’t think the current provision is fit for purpose.

Wonder if more of us could do this approach?

RepealTheGRA · 07/04/2019 08:31

Well done both!

Yes, good point, formal complaint procedures need to be utilised, at work, councils, schools, NHS just keep escalating until you get to Government departments/ombudsmens/courts. The law actually is still on our side (just about) we need to force it to work for us.

Write to Penny 'I don't know what a woman is' Mordaunt and Nadhim Zahaei, Children's minister, regarding investigation into ROGD and the 4000% increase in girls seeking transition.

OhHolyJesus · 07/04/2019 09:15

This is a useful thread OP, thanks for starting. I keep a mental list but when I get time to do this stuff I forget where I should start!

RepealTheGRA · 07/04/2019 09:20

I keep a mental list but when I get time to do this stuff I forget where I should start!

That’s where I’m at. Nadhim Zahaei that’s a good suggestion.

Writing to newspapers is another good one, sports and what’s going on in schools are topical atm.

OP posts:
CuriousaboutSamphire · 07/04/2019 09:35

I'm not writing to Mordaunt again, I have blood pressure to consider!

Nadhim Zahaei though. Good shout!

SingingLily · 07/04/2019 09:58

Lurker signing in! I've already been in touch with my MP and Sajid Javid asking pointed questions about the rather disturbing Civil Service transgender policy, the one that has now been withdrawn "for review". I'd already checked Council and local school websites but they are OK. I've challenged the RCN website but that's obviously still a work-in-progress. Never thought about Women's Aid or the GP but thank you for the steer. Will do that now.

Nadhim Zahawi? The Minister who attended the infamous Presidents Club dinner and said not a word until the media pointed out that he was not only present but an annual attendee? That Nadhim Zahawi?

RepealTheGRA · 07/04/2019 10:01

Nadhim Zahawi?

Oh that was him was it? Left at 8, saw nothing?

I’m still going to write. May care about votes if nothing else!

Quick and easy action.

Make sure you’ve signed this asserting women’s sex based rights.

Done!

Forgot to mention that DH (now well and truly trans-peaked) announced last night that he is never shopping in Boots again and is cancelling his Advantage card because of their current advertising campaign. It's giving him indigestion.

Needmoresleep · 07/04/2019 10:32

Donate!

Several high profile women are doing a lot. The least we can do is ensure they are not out of pocket. Look for the Pantheon or other accounts.

And obviously FairPlayforWomen, TransgenderTrend etc welcome donations.

I will try to put together links for merchandise later.

cwg1 · 07/04/2019 11:48

If you have DC in school, check out their RSE resources. New law is in from September 2020, curricula to be decided and/or devised by schools in consultation with parents. Keep an eye out to make sure they do. Offer Transgender Trend pack and point out nonsense about Genderbread Person and Allsorts Toolkit.

Stickering and leafletting - there's GCers slipping leaflets into library books and so on.

Someone mentioned posters a while ago. Print off or make - with DC - an AHF poster for your window.

There was a sister last year planting her garden with white and purple flowered bulbs with her DC - love it Smile

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 07/04/2019 12:08

I’ve written to my MP and Penny Mordaunt. Written to the NSPCC about their disgraceful tweet. Been to 2 Woman’s Place meetings and signed several petitions. Commented on the insulting article by the woke sports editor of The Times. Financially I’m in a place to contribute so have given donations to Transgendertrend and A Woman’s Place. I’m trying to do at least 2 positive things a week - sign/donate/write/comment as this helps to relieve my blood pressure when I read some of the things that are going on!

Angryresister · 07/04/2019 12:27

Written to MP several times. Received several answers re Brexit but not on GRA proposed reforms and sex protected spaces.donated to feminist GC groups . Stickering when I can. Hoping things are shifting

endofthelinefinally · 07/04/2019 14:43

I have written to, and met with, my MP.
Written to Penny Mordaunt.
Written to, and met with, the fund manager for a charity I have given thousands of pounds to in the past. They are now following all Stonewall's policies and allowing TW to share accommodation with vulnerable teenage girls. They don't care if I withdraw my support.
I have signed petitions and answered surveys.
Protested to my GP and Hospital about the change of sex to gender on my blood test forms.
Nobody cares.
All anybody is interested in is Brexit.
Nothing else matters.

cwg1 · 07/04/2019 15:06

endof Thank you for all your efforts Flowers I'm sorry you're so down, but there are some who care. Everybody here is helping, New people are joining all the time and making a difference - it's so heartening today to see the effects of campaigning in Oxfordshire schools. I'm very unsporty, but that's a great campaign that's having an effect. And there's been all the meetings and new groups - lots of women banding together and gaining confidence. We can do this.

BadPennyNoBiscuit · 07/04/2019 15:26

What about the NSPCC? Their recent tweets have misquoted the law. I don't donate to them but people who do have been pretty upset, and there is talk of stopping donations.

YouveGotAxes · 07/04/2019 15:29

I went to use the ladies toilets at the local sports centre last week and saw that someone had been ahead of me with these stickers, on the toilet roll dispenser:
www.standingforwomen.com/product-page/women-only-stickers-x-20
😁
I have cancelled my donations to bodies which have uncritically supported changes to the GRA and will be writing to let them know why. I will donate to more suitable bodies.
I won’t be cancelling my membership of a political party - you have to be in it to change it - but I will be writing to an appropriate person to dig down into their views and plans. It was, in fact, when I was selected for an interview panel in respect of said party that I started thinking about this more (it was meant to be an all-women shortlist, but when the chap came to support us with the process, he parroted the ‘transwomen are women’ line. There was tangible disquiet in the room - and I should in hindsight have asked by what definition he meant this, although in terms of applicants, it wasn’t an issue.)
My council website lists ‘transgender’ under ‘sex’ as a protected characteristic - and they have ignored one email from me already, so they are in my sights.
The introduction of the new DfE sex ed policy seems quite an important moment, so parents need to be critical about whether lobbying groups should be providing materials for any school curriculum.

My feeling is that the silent majority of people would find some of the thinking associated with the proposed changes to be ludicrous, but they either don’t know enough or don’t want to put their heads above the parapet.

MNSDKHheroines · 07/04/2019 15:49

I know we've mentioned schools & universities but I only just thought of 16+ colleges. I've checked those near me and all actually said in their policies 'under the Equality Act this is the list of protected characteristics' and then listed gender as well as gender reassignment.

Today I have sent this brief email.
"Hi
As the parent of a year 10 child I have been taking a look at the local 16+ education choices. I notice that your equality policy misquotes the Equality Act. It seems that sex has mistakenly been replaced with gender. www.equalityhumanrights.com/en/equality-act/protected-characteristics
No doubt you will be keen to provide students and staff with the correct legal position?
Regards"

jamrollyolly · 07/04/2019 15:53

Great thread, just in time for a little Easter holiday homework. There was also a thread on this petition a few days ago-

www.change.org/p/rt-hon-matt-hancock-mp-inquiry-into-alleged-pressure-by-trans-lobbyists-on-tavistock-clinic-s-treatment-protocols

Lettera · 07/04/2019 15:58

What have Boots done?

SingingLily · 07/04/2019 16:55

It's the current TV ad. You need to look at the second person on the right who, judging by his facial expression, is just loving every second of it all. Transgender or AGP? I don't know, I'm not Layla Moran. However, all the rest are women so, either way, it stands out.

XXcstatic · 07/04/2019 17:08

Check your GP has your sex on file not your gender

GP here. We don't have a choice. Patient records are held in one of 4 clinical records systems that are used nationally. We can enter data in them, but we can't control how that data is recorded.

If you want to ensure that the GP records systems use sex, not gender, you need to contact NHS England, which commissions the clinical records systems. Contact details here
