I am so glad to have found this little corner of the internet but I am looking to further my radfem research, read opinions, news, whatever. I am fascinated by trans issues and find the posts here eloquent and well informed but they do seem to dominate discussion. I have no problem with this as I recognise the significant impact this has on the lives and welfare of women and children. I would however like to read more about other issues affecting many of us such as porn, DV etc.

Are there any other blogs/forums etc where women’s rights are discussed from the radical feminist perspective? I am already aware of feminist current and obviously follow the amazing Posie and Megan Murphy on Facebook.

I live in a very conservative area on the south coast. I am yet to find a sister I can debate with and discuss these issues. The only feminist group is the libfem society as part of the local uni. I would love to meet someone in real life but will gladly settle for intelligent and informed discussion with women in online spaces.

You might find these links useful for information and trying to locate like minded people near you. Be prepared for people to be cautious about responding to any requests to meet. Good luck

Ah thank you turbo. Totally understand why people would be hesitant in the current climate and more generally as well. I have had a go at searching on here and fail at finding anyone. Google also bought me to a message a good few years ago on here from a woman asking if there was anyone in my area. She got no response. I also posted on one thread and I don’t think anyone is aware of anything local to me.

It is worth emailing ReSIsters they may be able to help you. Where are you on the south coast, east or west?

Wow! Thank you.

Gender hammer sadly doesn’t seem to be open to new accounts. There looks to be some great links though so thank you sparticus (formatting relentlessly failing so apologies for lack of bolding)

Conference in September sounds like a total dream! Will have a four month old at that point so will play it by ear!

turbo South West. I shall try and get in touch with reSisters. Have no computer access at the moment and I haven’t been able to send any emails from my account on any phone for 3 years. Shall bribe the younger brother with the promise of a beer and a cuddle with the idiot dog.

Genderhammer's domain name has been incorrectly set up - you need to leave out the www to get to the forum.

Thank you Spartacus, FiLia looks absolutely fabulous, the crèche is hugely appealing and hopefully by then I’ll have lost my first time mum anxiety about leaving baby alone with someone other than me! I did have to google Bradford, I am, to put it mildly, geographically challenged.

grumpy I managed to get onto the forum however when I tried to register there was a message saying something about not allowing new members at this time. I’ll keep checking back there though.

Genderhammer appears to be closing due to excessive spam and lack of use. Sad to see it, but I’m guilty of having signed up, then not making the time to go there. Guess lots of others did the same.

Thesepreciousthings · 01/04/2019 22:48

Ahh that’s such a shame, MN seems to be one of the few corners of the internet (and indeed real life) where I have been able to read discussions that resonate with my own personal belief systems, ie not including dick in my feminism.

I’m slowly delurking and will hopefully find my voice here once I get over my notorious shyness.

Also checking out some of the links posted here. Fab.

I think finding forums that allow open and non confrontational is quite hard. This is why mumsnet has been so valuable in allowing discussion that is shut down too often. (and even in stated RadFem groups where it turns out not having exactly the same analysis as the moderator can get you blocked - sigh!)

If you are on facebook then you could follow A Woman's Place UK which is gender critical but maybe more socialist feminist but every now and again has very interesting discussions as well as their work challenging local government etc., re correcting implementing the Equality Act. www.facebook.com/pg/womansplaceuk/posts/?ref=page_internal

(I dont think FiLia is particularly RadFem and has had some dubious speakers in the past, but at least are giving women the opportunity to meet face to face and discuss.)

Also search facebook for We Need to Talk, Mayday for Women, Fairplay for Women all on facebook. All gender critical but from slightly different stand points.

Joining in commenting and discussion on these and others can lead to maybe getting an invite to join closed groups (which allows more open discussion).

In terms of campaigning groups as well as Object there is Not Buying It who have sucessfully challenge lap dancing clubs and set up an undercover expose of Spearment Rhino reported in the Sunday Times. www.facebook.com/pg/NONotBuyingIt/posts/?ref=page_internal

An important campaigning group (IMO!) is Nordic Model Now who not only campaign but write informative papers on the exploitation and violence of prostitution. www.facebook.com/nordicmodelnow/

Other campaigning groups on other feminist issues are for instance End Violence Against Women, Centre for Women's Justice and to have some idea of the issues facing women service providers worth checking press releases from Women's Aid and Rape Crisis England and Wales. The groups, not unlike MWR, dont make statements about gender identity, and it is never clear whether this is fear of losing funding or because they actually dont agree within organisations but prioritising working together on their agreed aims.

Similarly Southall Black Sisters and IKWRO organising around issues for BME women.

stumbled that is amazing! Thank you.

It is appears that now is the time to overcome a lifetime of chronic shyness and to start engaging.

I went to FiLiA last year & it was wonderful to see how many women were in Adult Human Female or Fair Play for Women T-shirts.

Thesepreciousthings · 02/04/2019 08:09

Sounds like FiLiA could be the place to be. I’d find it really cheering to be round that many strong women fighting against their erasure.
