They couldn't bear the truth! Smile
I have to wonder what world these students are living in. A fantasy world?
(Sorry if this has been already posted -- I've been of MN for a day or two but didn't see it in any thread title.

They walked out at the point that the woman was talking about females lactating and giving birth. If there was going to be anything about brains being wired differently and males' wiring being superior, it hadn't got to that point yet.

beagadorsrock · 28/03/2019 11:34

It's the inability to see that a person can hold one 'correct' theory and an incorrect one at the same time, and you should play the theory not the holder.
Too complicated for their little minds?

This is great video to hear more about Heather Haying and Evergreen

HerFemaleness · 28/03/2019 13:08

I'm watching the video. wasa. The clips of the faculty meetings are fascinating. It's like watching a cultish religious ritual.

HerFemaleness · 28/03/2019 13:10

A young lass is now repenting of her sins and the sins of her mother and grandmother.

GCAcademic · 28/03/2019 13:13

I followed the Evergreen story when it happened. To be honest, I am quite fearful of what is coming to campuses in this country in the next few years; things are bad enough as it is, but we still have some way to go in terms of the witch hunts and authoritarianism before we have "caught up" with the current state of the US.

FreckledLeopard · 28/03/2019 13:20

I have to say that watching that video cheered my up no end. Having been fearful of yet another depressing, frustrating clip (I thought they all would walk out or something), it was heartening to see that there were only a few crazy, professionally offended individuals who left and who looked like absolute twats as a result. The fact that everyone else looked perplexed at them walking out, and applauded when the talk continued, suggests that most people haven't drunk the kool-aid.

A friend of mine who works in an American University in science and research had zero idea any of this was happening. I'm a bit confused as so much of it seems to be happening in the states, but he was looking at me like I had lost my mind when we discussed it. Maybe because he is in research rather than teaching or around the young woke kids?

TheFrontHoleIsConnectedToThe · 28/03/2019 13:26

Also he is only early fifties.

Wasabiaddiction · 28/03/2019 13:28

Part 2 of that video is more sinister and cultish. If you want to be really depressed.

HerFemaleness · 28/03/2019 13:34

I'm watching part 2 now. You're not wrong!

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 28/03/2019 13:46

I work at a university. Students do, thankfully, grow up.

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 29/03/2019 10:18

Hmm, are rabbits that growl at men common?! I had one of those too, my dad would go nowhere near the thing as it actually used to go absolutely bazzerk if he even went slightly close to it..which was odd for him as hes one of those people that all animals seem to like!

Childrenofthestones · 29/03/2019 12:54

"Wasabiaddiction

My god the point about 34m30s when the Dean is desperately appeasing a room full of Khmer Rouge wannabes and gets told off for gesturing with his hands while he speaks and ordered to by a student to put them by his sides.
He immediately did so, like a child reacting to a telling off and you can hear students mocking him for doing it and laughing at him to his face.

Weinstein and his wife were shat on by the rest of the staff who refused to back them up even though there were people that came up to him later and said they agreed but wouldn't raise their heads above the parapet.
They're paying the price now though with a large drop in enrollments leading to staff being made redundant.

I think they must be! Bunnies are transphobes, don't even care about assuming gender, do they?

Yeahnahyeah · 30/03/2019 16:48

I first watched Benjamin Boyce due to his excellent series of interviews with detransed women. Then I discovered his Evergreen videos. So informative. Love his stuff.

DpWm · 30/03/2019 21:11

This is to do with baby rabbits (kittens) who have been handled by humans very young.
Tiny rabbit kittens who are handled mostly by women will feel affection for mostly women as an adult rabbit.
If a rabbit kitten was never handled by a man it will never develop affection for a man.

Here's the full length video of the Portland State University event, called 'We Need to Talk About Diversity':

The question is not whether you agree with James Damor or not but whether he should be allowed to speak at all, whether people should be allowed to hear his ideas and argue back.

Helen Pluckrose said that 'diversity' has come to mean diversity of identities but absolute uniformity of ideas and opinions, and 'inclusion' has come to mean exclusion of anybody with different views because 'safe space'.

I watched a fair few of Benjamin Boyce's Evergreen videos over christmas but there is footage in this new Mike Nayna series I hadn't seen before. It is horrifying.

Ereshkigal · 31/03/2019 13:28

That was a really good event. I didn't agree with all elements of it, but it gave me lots of food for thought. And I thought the questions were mostly very good. Well worth watching.

origamiunicorn · 31/03/2019 13:36

People can't cope outside their echo chambers.

You can see this play out constantly on Twitter, people cannot cope with hearing an opposing opinion, sometimes even disregarding facts as they don't got their agenda. It's worrying what direction the younger generations are taking the world in.

This sums it all up beautifully. Definitely worth a read:

Why do they always have shitty blue hair?

One of the comments on the protestors' behaviour on that legal insurrection article linked above asks: "Is it caused by the hair dye?" Grin

Who knew you could do more with KoolAid than just drink it?... 🤷‍♀️

Re education in the US - it's worth remembering that there are 50 states and that education is a state responsibility, so lots of room for variation!

S1naidSucks · 31/03/2019 16:44

This cat is obviously a transphobe, as it only attacks men. How dare an animal know the difference between sexes!

BickerinBrattle · 31/03/2019 16:52

Also worth remembering that while the US has excellent colleges and universities, its high school education, except in wealthy suburbs or certain elite private-pay schools, is abysmal, and for many students the first two years of college = remedial high school.
