Serves them right. Disgusting behaviour and criminal damage

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 24/03/2019 10:06

Interesting. I thought the whole point of mixed sex toilets was that they were meant to eliminate these sorts of problems...

Childrenofthestones · 24/03/2019 10:07

Excellent point by a parent saying "how will an 11 yr old girl feel about sharing a toilet facility with a 16 yr old boy," or come to that gang of them.

BitOfFun · 24/03/2019 10:10

Good for them.

GerryblewuptheER · 24/03/2019 10:23

But I thought he der neutral looks erre perfectly safe and helped prevent bullying etc.

So why are there cameras in the first place?

Qwertylass · 24/03/2019 10:29

Probably because they have vandalised them. One of the reasons I don't let my yr 5s go to the toilet.

Please elaborate

Qwertylass · 24/03/2019 15:35

Elaborate how?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 24/03/2019 15:37

Yes unisex toilets prevent anything from ever happening ever.

scotsheather · 24/03/2019 16:08

'Damaging' school property is the clue. Its not really to do with the right or wrong of unisex toilets.

Spokk · 24/03/2019 18:03

The question is whether these cameras are in all the toilets or just the unisex. If the latter, the school knows there is something wrong with the mixed toilets, but are just waiting for problems before safeguarding reappears.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 24/03/2019 18:07

Really? Your child comes home and tells you that there toilets have gone unisex and school has put cameras in and you don't bat an eyelid.

But when your child, or someone else's, decides to take direct action you condemn them as vandals.

Way to teach your children that people have the right to piss without fear of being watched, taunted etc

There have been several reports recently about children being humiliated when needing to go to the toilet in lesson time. Your statement doesn't seem to have much concern or empathy for your pupils or maybe I'm misunderstanding.

Qwertylass · 24/03/2019 20:16

@Imnobody

They can go before school, playtime, lunch and at hometime. Lesson time is a no.

DrCristinaYang · 24/03/2019 20:19

@Qwertylass what is a child who suddenly becomes unwell with vomiting or diarrhoea supposed to do? Shit themselves in the classroom? Be sick everywhere?

Qwertylass · 24/03/2019 20:23

@Dr

The rare time that happens I allow it as a one off

Imnobody4 · 24/03/2019 20:28

Biology doesn't follow your timetable. A girl's period can start unexpectedly and I'd expect a teacher to be aware of this, as well as other children who can have problems and special needs.

Qwertylass · 24/03/2019 20:31

They can bring in a note if they have a medical problem x

Imnobody4 · 24/03/2019 20:41

So would you support this teacher?

In my experience, generally speaking (not aimed at particular individuals) it is the teachers with poor classroom control who have to resort to Miss Trunchbull draconian tactics to stop kids taking the piss. Good teachers are able to manage situations fairly, and reasonably, and understand that their pupils - even the very small ones - are human beings with certain physiological needs which have to be managed with sensitivity and dignity.

I am horrified that anyone could think it was appropriate to install CCTV in a toilet area.

Qwertylass · 24/03/2019 20:49

There couldn't have been long till the next break if it was 2 hours before. And why not change your pad at break. That's what I have to do. Although I would have pwrphaps made an exception if it was a one off for the girl.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 24/03/2019 20:53

It always worries me when people profess to be teachers and yet repeatedly demonstrate no respect for boundaries or the right to consent. Teachers who force Muslim girls to share toilets and changing rooms with boys, teachers who insist that a girl who has been sexually abused must share toilets with boys - and so on.
It's quite depressing to see such lack of insight and empathy in those who work with children

Spokk · 24/03/2019 21:04

A young girl getting used to periods must only use the toilets when they are really busy at breaktimes? Angry

S1naidSucks · 24/03/2019 21:11

I gushed blood when I hit my teens, so would have leaked through, if I’d had to wait between breaks. But that’s ok, Qwertylass, you didn’t so therefore, girls should have to wait. Hmm

truthisarevolutionaryact · 24/03/2019 21:29

Some adult women confess to feeling embarrassed at unwrapping sanitary protection in toilets - silly in many ways but despite this being quite common, young girls learning to manage their periods are being forced to share toilets with boys. Sad
