The 24 year harassment of the Vancouver rape relief and women's shelter

Interesting article here about the 24 year campaign against the Vancouver women's shelter for its refusal to allow trans identified females into its space. I'd heard about the law suit but didn't know about all these other acts. Honestly starting to feel like Trans Right Activism is just mens Right Advocates in a dress. Why can't no one see how batshit insane and EVIL these activists are?

I've donated. This is a MRA in a wig and a dress who takes pleasure in subjugating women. It's time for this to stop. I would bet that most of those who agree with this MRA in a wig and a dress are on right wing sites as well.

This is a beautiful statement from the Vancouver Rape Relief and Women's Shelter.

Read and then decide if you want to support this worthy organisation.

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/03/2019 15:33

They only need 4000 at $20/month, which is what I'm now donating.

QuantamBaby · 19/03/2019 15:38

I've donated too, the whole situation makes my blood boil.

EweSurname · 19/03/2019 15:39

CaptainMarvelBunting she's retweeted or commented on the cotton ceiling, lesbians not being welcomed at Pride, affirmation of children into the medical pathway, the high percentage of transwomen in women's prisons who have committed violent crimes against women and I'm sure other things that I've missed!

EweSurname · 19/03/2019 15:41

Oh and "lesbian" no longer being defined as women who have a sexual attraction to other women (which is related to the cotton ceiling I suppose)

CaptainMarvelBunting · 19/03/2019 15:43

EweSurname, oh I know! I've watched in starry eyed admiration as she has responded with every bit of integrity I would have expected from her as she's come across each new avenue of horror in this. It is a beautiful, encouraging thing.

placemats · 19/03/2019 16:03

My children agree with me! Finally. They have applauded the donation.

I cancelled my small monthly donation to nspcc a few months ago. I have just found a worthy replacement in VRR.

2BthatUnnoticed · 17/05/2019 07:50

What is this? Has one of the few female-dedicated Rape Crisis Centres been forced into line? Any Canadians about?

And people can fuck right off with implying that butch lesbians are any less “woman” than anyone else... jeez when will it end.

Ogre is just avoiding the question.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 17/05/2019 07:59

Thanks for the reminder of the fundraiser.

2BthatUnnoticed · 17/05/2019 08:04

But his last tweet .. “VRR serves all women”?

hipsterfun · 17/05/2019 08:07

Or a zippered Hefty bag, as the case may be.

Is this the one offering make-up tips?

Now I’ve zero interest myself, but even I know the blusher goes on your cheekbones Confused

dolorsit · 17/05/2019 08:13

Well yes it probably does serve all women it's just that Ogre is twisting it to mean something else.

Let's be honest if the centre had changed it's policy Ogre would have been all over the Internet gloating.

Genderfreelass · 17/05/2019 08:46

Yes hipster that's the one 😂😂😂 next they'll be offering hair styling tips 😂😂😂

The laydees have stubble and manly features to hide so have to slap on the makeup, maybe that's why the blusher spread a bit?

nauticant · 17/05/2019 09:17

it's just that Ogre is twisting it to mean something else.

For a long while now TRAs have had remarkable success with "if we say it's real, then that makes it so". It defines much about them and it's pretty much what they do.

barelove · 17/05/2019 11:25

Great to be made aware of this DJLippy and to know we can support them with donations at least.

Just want to raise something else here but don't want to derail this great thread, so will make my point and get back to work.

I think it would be a good idea to try to use different words when describing these people, even if it means using more words or sounding a bit clumsy. Calling these men trans identified females implies they are females and when read by enough people, enough times, encourages acceptance that TWAW which we all know isn't true.

I think it'd be great if we never used the word female in a description of a man. It's a word that can only be used in conjunction with women and girls.

These men are men who want to identify with the gender stereotype of how our culture views women. Even the word Trans women is pssing me off these days. They're not* women and never will be.

Genderfreelass · 17/05/2019 11:29

Barelove I thought trans ID female is a transman and therefore female?

Childrenofthestones · 17/05/2019 11:32

rocketromano said...
"Despicable narcissistic individuals. I don’t know how the general public in Canada puts up with this bullshit"

Because they have a very strong left wing intersectional community and those that disagree are terrified of the consequences of speaking out.

Outanabout · 17/05/2019 12:36

Barelove, I prefer to use the word transwoman rather than 'trans woman' which implies a type of woman.

FeministCat · 17/05/2019 12:49

Barelove I thought trans ID female is a transman and therefore female?

This is correct. On other sites I am on members use the acronyms for trans identified men (transwomen) or trans identified woman (transmen). It keeps it clear they are still men and women, respectively. However, those aren’t permitted on MN.

JellySlice · 17/05/2019 12:53

I think it'd be great if we never used the word female in a description of a man. It's a word that can only be used in conjunction with women and girls.

This. 100% this.

Orchidoptic · 17/05/2019 12:56

I donated, though I found the form a bit scary.

JellySlice · 17/05/2019 13:00

Likewise. I had a moment of "What if they crumble and their donors are openly investigated?"

The hell with that! I am openly GC, have donated to many GC causes and am breaking no laws by doing so.
