Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but on this page the UK government claim that "gender" is a protected characteristic:

This can be reported here (I've done so, but it may be helpful if others do too):

Ha ha! Wetting myself laughing:

"sex is so nebulous and contested a term now" ... a quick chat with the mother of Sally Hines just might say otherwise, eh?

RepealTheGRA · 26/03/2019 16:46

Do you collect tokens in the sun to become a professor for £9.50 these days? WTF is wrong with Sally Hines? Shock

I've posted a complaint to the RCN website (using the site feedback link), pointing out that it is misleading and inaccurate, and asking them to correct it as per EA2010.

So whereas it appears to have been fixed did anyone hear back from the department of education?

And from the Home Office's website:

We will not discriminate on grounds of age, caring responsibilities, disability, gender, gender identity, marriage and civil partnerships, part-time working, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation or any other factor irrelevant to a person’s work.

Spot the protected characteristic that doesn't get a mention and might (or might not) be bundled up with "and any other factor". But gender and gender identity are there, oh yes.

This is why the police are so keen to jump to the tune of people who feel that their gender identity is being slighted. This is why the police remain unaware that 'sex' based rights are covered by the Equality Act - despite what the HOme Office says
