Anyone else read this?

A psychoanalyst resigned stating in his resignation:
“I do not believe we understand what is going on in this complex area and the need to adopt an attitude which examines things from different points of view is essential. This is difficult in the current environment as the debate and discussion required is continually being closed down or effectively described as ‘transphobic’ or in some way prejudicial.”

Interesting.

What a strange thing for the guardian to report, last time they dipped their toe in the American Superiors went mental and told them they were very bad children.

MyAlmaMater · 24/02/2019 12:48

Well done The Guardian in that case. This needs shouting from the rooftops. Young people's lives are being damaged for fear of coming across as transphobic.

Its from The Observer.

The part I found most interesting was the bit at the end. I think this is long overdue.

“the trust has agreed to a unique study that will track young people referred to GIDS. It has been awarded £1.3m by the National Institute for Health Research. An independent research team will follow a group of volunteer young people referred to the service, even if they choose to leave it, the first time such a study will be conducted anywhere in the world.

The trust said this would allow researchers to compare outcomes for those who go on to use physical interventions, such as hormone blockers, and those who select an alternative pathway.”

Agree the research is needed, however would also be good to research those who have already transitioned and look at/measure their outcomes e.g. mental health, overall wellbeing. Longitudinal studies needed here. However in the meantime the trans agenda is being pushed hard.

When this was raised there was a massive pushback from some adult TRAs at the suggestion which was telling.

bumping this informative thread.

I wonder what the TRA's reasons were for not wanting the research to be conducted. Couldn't possibly imagine.
