Just to remind everyone that Sally's appeal will be heard on 27 and 28 February at the Royal Courts of Justice. Her son David has been campaigning tirelessly about her case and the appeal was put back, having originally been due to be heard before Christmas.

Fingers crossed that she is freed and that society wakes up to the realities of coercive control and what it does to people.

She's already spent 8 years in prison. After 30 odd years of abuse

I'm really happy about this. My only concern is if the retrial happens and she's required to go back to prison (either found guilty of murder or a manslaughter conviction with an extended sentence) - going back into prison after being released after 8 years inside would be very hard.

This guy got 3 years and 8 months for manslaughter.

He said that the victim consented to be strangled, beaten up and she had horrific internal injuries that he claimed that she consented to. He left her there to die and went to bed.

He'll be out in less than two years.

thankyou lichtie, glad I'm not alone. I'll be honest I wasn't aware she had already done 8 years.

I'm very pleased for her and her sons. I'm not sure what the point of a retrial would be, she's admitted manslaughter and has served 8 years, almost certainly more than she would have been sentenced to had the original conviction been for manslaughter rather than murder. Let the poor woman be.

And hat tip to Harriet Wistrich from Justice for Women for her work in securing the appeal.
