Thanks to Fair Play For Women, and everyone else who have raised this.

Ebay have listened to concerns and very quickly removed the advert : "Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It is not allowed to advertise this way on eBay and it is no longer on our site. ~Destin"

Why anybody thinks gender neutral/mixed sex toilets/changing rooms as the norm is acceptable is beyond me. I think I learned from a very young age (about 7) that boys and men will go to any lengths to see women naked/undressing. When the primary aged boys used to try and sneak in when the primary age girls were changing for swimming. They also liked to show us their willies.

I grew up in the 70s - before the advent of mobile phones/dick pics/ lady penises. It was rampant then, it's worse now because of the technology.

It's so normalised now, I'm pleasantly surprised that Ebay took such swift action. Thank you ebay.

And thanks to Dr Nic for being fabulous, yet again.

Wow well done ebay! So refreshing to find somewhere I actually can shop these days.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 07/02/2019 00:05

Good job, eBay!

Small and discrete cameras which could be used for spying are legal and are allowed to be bought and sold on ebay.

I think ebay removed the mentioned ad because if you are advertising a product and suggesting or condoning that it be used for illegal means that of course would be a breach of the rules.

Lichtie · 07/02/2019 00:10

Would be better if they removed all of them from the site. You note they just say not allowed to advertise this way.. So they still sell them on ebay just market them slightly differently

userschmoozer · 07/02/2019 00:20

Theres a list of adult items which are banned from Ebay;

Adult anime, comics, books, films, and other items
Bondage items
Hidden camera or amateur video items
Images of nudity
Items that can't be listed at all
Magazines or books
Media or movies for 18 or older
Minors or child pornography
Other sexual or adult Items
Personal relationships or services
Used clothing or underwear

traceyracer · 07/02/2019 00:22

I think the argument why they are allowed is because the buyer could use them for legitimate purposes. for example a small camera could be easily attached to an RC helicopter for recreation, or attached to a helmet or bicycle handbars (similar to what you would use a GoPro for, except these cameras are much cheaper meaning they might have an appeal to those on a budget)

Calvinsmam · 07/02/2019 00:22

These cameras are fucking grim, like seriously wtf.

userschmoozer · 07/02/2019 00:24

I get why people need cameras, just not ones hidden in coat hooks. Ebay rules allow those, they just aren't allowed to show half naked women when they list them.

Calvinsmam · 07/02/2019 00:24

My fil uses them in his bird boxes to watch the babies in the nest.

Calvinsmam · 07/02/2019 00:25

Oh he doesn’t use ones in coat hooks for that, just normal little cameras.

Lichtie · 07/02/2019 00:27

userschmoozer... Is that a real list. EBay is full of used clothes, sex toys, hidden cameras etc, they clearly don't enforce any of these rules

traceyracer · 07/02/2019 00:27

so your fil uses a hidden camera to spy on naked chicks?

(joke/play on words)

Calvinsmam · 07/02/2019 00:29
Grin Yes and he often proclaims ‘let’s get the telly on to see how my tits are doing’
Calvinsmam · 07/02/2019 00:32

But actually now I know how some men use the cameras, that’s kind of soiled that lovely harmless fun for me.

userschmoozer · 07/02/2019 00:33

Lichtie that is Ebays list, verbatim. If you click the 'report item' link and select 'Prohibited and restricted items' - Adult material' its the list of choices Ebay give you.

Lichtie I think part of the problem is that there is only so much Ebay can do to prevent people listing banned items, they can always find a way around it. So they have to rely on people to report banned items.

I tried to report an item listed as rhino horn, but they used a photo of the item with text in the photo. So the bot couldn't see anything wrong with the item and didn't remove it.

Lichtie · 07/02/2019 00:38

userschmoozer.. Thanks.
I feel bad now, I sold a jacket on ebay once.
Just out of curiosity I just searched "bondage" on ebay... Over 20000 results and quite graphic, guess nobody enforces the rules.

Lichtie · 07/02/2019 00:40

You think they would pick up the word bondage in the title though

Ebay actually listened to women.
userschmoozer · 07/02/2019 00:41

I agree. They can act fast enough when it looks like you are listing an item that infringes copyright. I had a pair of shoes de-listed recently and had to remove 'velcro' from the title and description.

7Days · 07/02/2019 00:45

Jeez that bondage gear is cheap.

Lichtie · 07/02/2019 00:46

Personally I have no issue with them selling bondage gear, each to their own if its not being forced on anyone. But don't see the point in having rules if they are not enforced.
And removing one listing when there are hundreds similar for spy cameras is not helping.

Lichtie · 07/02/2019 00:47

7days 😂 hadn't looked at the price.

7Days · 07/02/2019 00:50

Well I'm not a habitual buyer tbh... But there's nothing aspirational or glamourous about £7.99 is there?

traceyracer · 07/02/2019 00:52

I would imagine cheap restraints are ok to use but if one wishes a whip it would best to invest in a good quality one
