There is so much wrong with this tweet, I don't know where to start.

But it definitely proves the bald-faced hubris of males, does it not? "Anything c*s can do, trans can do better!"

Gah!

Well this is laughably impossible.

@Beerflavourednipples I believe the phrase I'm looking for here is 'chinny reckon'.

This may be the best comment I've ever read

MacaroonMama · 15/01/2019 13:21

I have got the absolute red mist over this. It is such bollocks. We know that. They must know that. But what is someone reads it and thinks it is true? So many big fat lies in this statement!

LangCleg · 15/01/2019 13:25

I feel it would be better if they did not let us see their inner thoughts.

Grin Proper belly laugh. Time to revive that classic!

HamiltonCork · 15/01/2019 13:26

Why do so many TRAs seem like compulsive liars?

MutantDisco · 15/01/2019 13:29

Can the tweet be reported? (I'm not on Twitter).

There's enough fucking misinformation about BF in the public domain without this stream of total bollockstalk.

GoulashSoup · 15/01/2019 13:30

I feel it would be better if they did not let us see their inner thoughts.

But then how would we know they have lady souls and lady brains Lang?

OvaHere · 15/01/2019 13:31

Such bullshit.

And of course it would be better milk than those nasty inferior females produce. I'm fairly sure it's also glittery like the Xmas edition J20's.

theresaspiderinthesink · 15/01/2019 13:35

Do you know what fuck it.

Lactate.

Be a night nanny.

My right boob is now considerably longer than the left as ds is teething and I've been resorting to latching him on just to get some sleep (after calpol of course.)

Fuck off with your fetishes.

Iused2BanOptimist · 15/01/2019 13:36

They need to drop the R from HRT too. It isn't hormone replacement therapy.
It is just hormones or cross sex hormones. Quite different. It just bugs me when I see HRT being wrongly bandied about.

FloralBunting · 15/01/2019 13:37

Chinny reckon. Jimmy Hill.

I've actually been wiping away tears of mirth at the responses.

I showed it to my sick teen home off school because she was asking why I was laughing, and she said "Honey, you lie."

FlyingOink · 15/01/2019 13:46

I have a friend on HRT. Still has a cock, still genetically male, but turns out he has been tested and is more of a man than any CIS woman, so I have donated said friend to someone who gives a toss.

So we get to have the babies and go back to work while the Dads can do everything? This could be great for women!

Well, we wouldn't. But they might be more relaxed if they didn't constantly say things that make us run away screaming!

timetostepup · 15/01/2019 13:47

"Healthier than a cis women's". Hmm

So, where is this test of what's healthy in breast milk? By what measure, exactly?

Given it's a fascinating but developing science, and we don't even know what everything in breast milk does, how the fuck would anyone even know if they'd produced milk that was "healthier"?

silentcrow · 15/01/2019 13:53

How marvellous! Let's get them all hooked up to milking machines post-haste.

Like cows.

Lolcows.

RiddleyW · 15/01/2019 14:04

Well it gives a new thing to argue about in the breastfeeding threads at least. Formula now in third place.

applestrudels · 15/01/2019 14:16

I remember reading somewhere about a transwoman in America whose wife was pregnant and the TIM wanted to breastfeed the baby and be its sole food source, so his transition doctor put him on a (purely experimental) course of hormones to promote lactation, an the was able to lactate a tiny amount.

The article was criticising the doctor for all sorts of things, as it seems the treatment was 100% focused on the man, with no examination of the baby or the mother for that matter, no thought seems to have been given to whether the hormones would impact on the baby, the milk wasn't tested for nutritional quality, he was only producing a very small amount , nowhere near enough for a baby of that age, and yet claimed he was the sole food source... all very messed up. I can't find the exact article I read but if you google "trans woman breastfeeding" loads of articles come up about the case.

But in other words, no, normal HRT given to TIMS does not cause lactation, it's only if they're given a specific treatment to trigger lactation. TBH I've known to young (vigrin) men who thought that all women can lactate all the time, this one's probably one of them.

Bowlofbabelfish · 15/01/2019 14:20

Bollocks they do Grin

Males can lactate - if they go it means they are producing prolactin and that means something is wrong somewhere. Some antipsychotic drugs for example increase prolactin levels.

So males can, technically, lactate, in the sense of producing a secretion from the mammary.

What males cannot do is produce a situation akin to female normal lactation. They do not have sufficient tissue nor can they produce enough. So a Male lactating is usually a symptom of a disease process or exogenous hormones.

To donate, you need a baby under a few months old and to be tested for various pathogens. The ‘quality’ of the milk is not tested.

Bear in mind that a woman taking hormones will likely be unable to donate - the advice is to pump and dump even with the morning after pill. A Male, taking hormones to produce abnormal, marginal lactation, would not be able to fovate, and would not be able to produce enough to donate.

File under ‘did ye, aye?’

Here's a critical analysis of that study: lascapigliata8.wordpress.com/2018/03/26/analysis-of-study-of-induced-lactation-in-trans-identified-man/
In brief, the man (who was a fully intact male) was already on cross-sex hormones and taking prescribed tranquilisers and sleeping pills that he continued taking all these throughout. To induce lactation he was given a drug that has been banned in several countries.
The man was able to express some milk before the birth; the researchers make no mention of testing ay ofthis milk. After the birth, he was allowed to express and measure milk at home; he researchers didn't interview the mother or see the baby, and the amount the man claimed to have expressed was entirely insufficient to feed a baby.

In short - unbelievable.
