Excuse me - I honestly only stepped out for a moment. OK, admittedly, I have been sort of distracted for the last decade - y'know - children- take up a lot of time... no room of my own etc.... But ffs - when I left it was all going very nicely. If used to be that if you wanted to be a little bit radical, you hinted that female sportspersons should be paid like men.... and although there was obviously unequal pay, sexual harassment and you were subjugated by your reproductive role, no one - and I mean no one - was confused about what a woman was.

So literally I just looked away for a few seconds, and wtaf.

There just isn't enough gin in my day, and whilst I'm definitely too old, and too weak to start arguing with everyone again, I find there is just no alternative.

More to my horror, I've woken up to discover that TRAs have taken all the cool jargon. Being "woke" sounds so sorted... and "TW are women" is definitely more catchy -if slightly preposterous. As redress, I decided to reclaim "woke". I'm awake and cross and almost menopausal.

Think like a lot of women I'm just miserably unsure about what to do about it, other than feeling cross.... though I find that is always a useful first step. Thought I would come over and join MN, as I heard you were a bunch of evil harpies, intent on dreadful things Confused [skeptical] Please excuse me whilst I get used to the archaic emoji system - looking forward to chatting.

OP, it's odd isn't it? I came out of baby fog to find I was a non-man.

I think what's horrifying is that the more we uncover, the more it becomes clear that this has been in the works for a lot longer than we realised - quietly, secretly changes were being made that we're still uncovering.

I think they thought they were over the line, that it was a done deal, then some women realised, and started yelling, and some of us heard and joined in, and hopefully we've made enough noise that we stand some chance of retaining and reclaiming our rights.

Recent important thread which demonstrates the historical truth of trans rights' activism:

AAK wrote , "I'm going to point every "but the nice, harmless old school transsexuals whose movement has been unfairly appropriated by the nasty transgender people" person to this thread from now on.

All the same elements we're seeing now were there in that old BBC roundtable from the 70s with the 4 transwomen, the politician, and the doctor. None of this is new."
