Report into how rapist facing trial was appointed Green Party election agent delayed

leftfootforward.org/2018/12/report-into-how-rapist-facing-trial-was-appointed-green-party-election-agent-delayed/

I understand the Maxwellisation process where individuals can respond to what is written about them but it doesn't make sense to me that the green party as an organisation who has requested this "independent" report can hold it up by "suggesting changes". Surely them being allowed to change the report rather than just comment on the report makes it not independent.

This case has shown that the Green Party has a serious problem with their safeguarding.

Aimee Challenor was (and is) a vulnerable young person. Instead of looking after them, the Green Party exploited Aimee and we're complicit in allowing a convicted child abuser to influence Green Party policy.

They should be ashamed of themselves. Instead, they are doing all they can to cover their own arses.Xmas Angry Typical fucking politicians.Xmas Angry

One of the Green party members (Judy) tells Left Fot Forward that one person is holding up publication and 'playing the party like a fiddle'. She wants Veritas to go ahead, as promised, because members want the report now.

Terfing · 22/12/2018 12:33

This report may well destroy the Green Party. I feel bad for the genuine members caught up in this. They deserved so much better.

This will probably be Caroline Lucas's legacy.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/12/2018 12:34

I'm glad people are still waiting for it to come out though, so that if it doesn't there'll be a backlash rather than no-one noticing.

arranbubonicplague · 22/12/2018 12:57

It will be interesting to see if Shahrah Ali comments on the delay.

Stonewall are also connected and have yet to come under any real scrutiny.

Anlaf · 22/12/2018 13:39

Well.

Plus a reminder that Aimee Challoner has since joined the Liberal Democrats, warmly welcomed by our friends in the Lib dem lgbt++ group.

Popchyk · 22/12/2018 13:50

I'd certainly be interested to see if there is any reference to the prominent Greens who assisted Aimee and David Challenor with an injunction.

AC and DC wanted to silence another Green Party member from speaking out about transgender ideology, remember.

And prominent Greens leapt to provide "evidence" for the injunction.

R0wantrees · 22/12/2018 13:54

Som of whom are also key influencers in Stonewall.

Politically homeless because this serious safeguarding issue was not dealt with in a responsible or timely manner. Not sure many senior Green figures have understood how craven they all appear in trying to appease the bully-boy trans lobby.

BreakWindandFire · 22/12/2018 15:41

The Representations Process (aka Maxwellisation process) of allowing those about to be criticised in an official report a right of reply is a fair one.

Problems arise when it's used to slow down or attempt to bury the report. For example, the RP in the HBOS report a couple of years ago was 14 months!

And we all know that the Challenors are well-versed in subverting official processes.

Mumfun · 22/12/2018 15:48

The Green Party are putting out the begging bowl constantly at the moment. Dont they understand that a lot of people would be very wary of giving to a party with this hanging over them and not resolved?

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 22/12/2018 16:37

Thanks for this, will copy to the investigations thread

theOtherPamAyres · 22/12/2018 16:41

Reading between the lines of the Left Foot Forward article, I suspect that the former Chair of the Executive Committee is the one holding up the report.

*Under her leadership, Challoner could do no wrong while Gender Critics were made to feel unwelcome
*She was informed about the pending court case by Challoner
*She enabled the 'fast tracking' of complaints of transphobia, ignoring the principles of Natural Justice
*I think that she authorised the spurious civil action against one gender critic by the Challoners

I believe that she has a disability that prevents her from being available to attend to matters unless she is having a good day. Putting two and two together (and I could be wrong), I suspect that she is unable to respond at this time.

Datun · 22/12/2018 17:05

Presumably they see no reason in revoking Aimee Challoner's membership?

Unless they'd have to wait for the report to come out before they did that? If there was anything there?

RJFirth · 23/12/2018 01:29

It's ridiculous. I knew it likely wouldn't surface by November, but several months later is unacceptable.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 23/12/2018 07:37

Why am I not surprised?

Terfing · 23/12/2018 11:12

Has Challrnor co-operated with this report? I believe they quit before it started?

Datun · 23/12/2018 12:32

Has Challrnor co-operated with this report? I believe they quit before it started?

Yes that's true, I forgot. I'm sure Challoner hasn't cooperated. And yes, the Lib Dems would not have had sight of the report, at all. I can't keep up!

Floisme · 23/12/2018 12:38

I'm not familiar with the Maxwellisation process but, while I can understand the principle of allowing individuals a right of reply, shouldn't this be after the report is published rather than before?

Popchyk · 23/12/2018 12:40

Challenor refusing to co-operate could put Challenor in the frame for a lot of the blame.

Ex-member gone rogue is a tried and trusted narrative.

Qcng · 23/12/2018 12:59

Presumably they see no reason in revoking Aimee Challoner's membership?

AC has left the Greens so there's no need to revoke.
They're a warmly welcomed Lib Dem now.

theOtherPamAyres · 23/12/2018 13:32

...allowing individuals a right of reply, shouldn't this be after the report is published rather than before?

It's really about not jeopardising a subsequent disciplinary hearing or prosecution.

If the Enquiry went ahead and published - without giving them an opportunity to correct or provide further information about the adverse findings - then they could argue that the Report made it impossible for them to get a fair hearing/trial later.

When they get the summary and gist of the adverse findings, it may be the first time that they have seen the range of damning inputs from other people.

It's ironic that the hold-up is due to principles of natural justice and fairness, because natural justice wasn't a feature of Green Party culture when it came to trans matters.

SirVixofVixHall · 23/12/2018 14:51

Challenor is a misogunist, fetishist and is in politics, not for the support of any specific party, but to get power for Challenor’s own agenda. Not striking me as “vulnerable” frankly.
Let us remember who was behind the mass blocking of feminists on twitter.

SirVixofVixHall · 23/12/2018 14:51

misogynist obvs. Not sure where that rogue “u”came from.
