A detailed article with quotes from David Davies MP.

Apparently binders are sent to young teenagers in plain packaging behind parents backs. The health implications sound horrific. Where is acknowledgement of parents safeguarding responsibilities?

Safeguarding has been of high priority especially in the last decade.

Now we have a government funding charities and public bodies that dismantle safeguarding.

Now we have the NSPCC refusing to debate safeguarding on Victoria Derbyshire.

Now we have schools ignoring DfE guidelines on sex segregation after 8 years, ignoring safeguarding, allowing political religious beliefs and science denial being taught to children and all Tweeting against safeguarding.

Now we have MPs attempting to censor the press on safeguarding. I am sure that meeting pricked interest from the Times, Mail and Piers Morgan where they wouldn't have been interested otherwise.

Now we have the press encouraging the demonstration of women with safeguarding concerns.

Now we have a high profile Irish celebrity on Facebook trying to dismantle British safeguarding attitudes when speaking about @Glinner.

Hmm
SlowCookerLiners · 02/12/2018 16:37

Now we have Students union Twitler youth that is facing bankruptcy and is late with a report on the Action for Trans Health collaboration dictating who can and can't be employed, who statues, paintings and buildings can be named after, what thoughts and research can be carried out.

We now have a speaker who will not leave when asked by MPs and will not allow urgent questions.

We now have a Scottish government promoting on their Twiiter feed as a Scottish government background picture - Dear Transpondes threats.

We now have a police force who have lost control of the streets yet can travel all over the country targeting anyone with a high profile who has safeguarding concerns.

This is being funded by the government.

People we are no longer living in a free country or in any kind of democracy.

This has made me really tearful. Reading about this and woke people's reactions to it, justifying the permanenet alterations of young girls' bodies and being totally oblivious to issues around safeguarding and consent. Arguing that transphobia is the real issue. I'm so angry that this is being allowed to happen. So incredibly sad.

Thingybob · 02/12/2018 16:50

Red Oak tweets now seem to be protected

The Norfolk/Suffolk border seems an odd place for progressive support of all things trans. Here's another, I won't comment as I'm rather gobsmacked.

Staff may travel from Cambridge - there is a huge cluster there.

The LBGT Foundation website shows that they have the information standard kitemark- which is awarded by the department of health in England.

You have to scroll to the very bottom of the webpage to see the logo displayed amongst a load of other ones.

The information standard is about recognising ‘health information you can trust’.

I would be interested to know if MORF offers Department of Health information standard kitemarked info on the binders that they apparently post out to underage girls?

Given that binders pose well known, potentially permanent health risks to the wearer’s ribs, breast tissue and are known to act to generally debilitate the wearer since they must avoid exertion while wearing a binder..Sad

Rattinghat · 02/12/2018 17:13

Charity Commissioners and Dept of Health urgently need to scrutinise LGBT Foundation to see if they are spending their grants on what they say they are.

Restriction of the growth of girls' breasts by use of binders is without doubt an FGM issue.

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/12/2018 17:14

SlowCookerLiners who is the high profile Irish celeb please? I don't do Facebook.

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/12/2018 17:19

Rattinghat, breastbinding is not covered by FGM legislation. The Act is very specific about the body areas concerned.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 02/12/2018 17:34

I was in a nursery recently where safeguarding red flag posters for breast ironing in young girls was alongside FGM red flag posters and is something children in the area are at risk from. And yet our government funds groups providing binders to children.

The cognitive dissonance is terrifying. Safeguarding is actually becoming a dirty word.

SlowCookerLiner · 02/12/2018 18:16

I would suggest Barry and his ilk will one day be found guilty of state endorsed Transhousens by proxy. I wonder if FGM laws will expand to encourage criminal prosecution?

OldCrone · 02/12/2018 18:21

breastbinding is not covered by FGM legislation.

But the National FGM centre includes breast flattening as one of the harmful practices it campaigns against.

It should also be acknowledged that some adolescent girls and boys may choose to bind their breast using constrictive material due to gender transformation or identity, and this may also cause health problems.

EverardDigby · 02/12/2018 18:39

Just looked up Big Lottery they are currently not funding international projects. Therefore Morf distributing these medical devices worldwide using UK funding is probably in breach of their agreement.

They would need to demonstrate that any Lottery funding was spent within guidelines but this doesn't stop them income generating from elsewhere.

LurkingWaspi · 02/12/2018 19:01

morf.org.uk/my-account/
Apparently there is a twitter account.
Follow us on twitter: @morf_manchester and @morfbinders
Anyone able to look? I'm not a twitterati

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 02/12/2018 19:04

The accounts have apparently not tweeted since 2016/17

TimeLady · 02/12/2018 19:09

It looks like MORF isn't currently active so presumably the mothership organisation (which employs 'Barry'?) is shipping the binders now. No mention of binders or MORF in their 2018 accounts submitted to Companies house, as far as I could see.

BlytheSpiritsSpirit · 02/12/2018 19:21

So is this organisation a front for something else, not actually active but still in receipt of lottery funding?

Am understanding this correctly?

LemonJello · 02/12/2018 19:35

I’ve got those Red Oaks tweets.

Bowlofbabelfish · 02/12/2018 19:39

Did anyone get a screenshot of the committee names or know where these are available? Surely this is info that must be registered somewhere?

EverardDigby · 02/12/2018 19:43

The LGBT Foundation board will be in their annual report, but if MORF is just a project rather than a separate charity there's no requirement to make these details public.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 02/12/2018 19:44

It was first names only, so they weren't googleable.

LemonJello · 02/12/2018 19:45

And they were all male were they?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 02/12/2018 19:45

I found this though...
