Green is male and has 'identified as a woman' since 2011.
Green and two associates lured Mr Shankland back to Green’s flat in March 2013
Times: She was jailed for life and ordered to serve at least 18 years in prison in November 2013 after she was found guilty of murder at the High Court in Edinburgh. Green and two accomplices lured Robert Shankland, 45, to her flat, tied him up and tortured him for hours, beating him so badly that they left a footprint on his neck. They also sexually assaulted him with a rolling pin.
Judge John Morris said at the trial: “It beggars belief you could act towards another human in this way. You left the victim, even in death, without any dignity.”
Scottish Sun:
"In 2013 she was moved from Corton Vale women’s prison, near Stirling, after reports of “inappropriate behaviour” with women at the jail.
In January 2017, screws were forced to send her back to the men’s wing when she ignored them and kept hooking up with her fellow prisoners."
Telegraph:
"Green, 27, was found guilty of murder and jailed for life in 2013 after she tortured, sexually assaulted and beat a man to death with two accomplices.
Since being incarcerated, Green from Glenrothes, Fife, has been removed from a women’s prison for sexually assaulting other inmates."
The charity Women in Prison (WIP) would not comment on this specific case, however it said: “WIP respects the right of any individual to transition. Drawing on our experience in providing support, we recognise the significant difficulties that this often involves.
“We support the right of transgender people to access services that meet their needs.”
Interestingly, I think from memory TELI/Stephen Whittle/Tara Hewitt were signposting to Women In Prison Charity to comment at the time of discussion about Karen White's conviction
Daily Mail:
Mr Shankland’s sister, Pauline Bell, 46, said: ‘[Green] should not be getting the operation on the NHS. It’s not lifesaving treatment. [Green] took somebody’s life away and destroyed a family.
‘[Green] destroyed my mum’s life and now [Green] is being given this treatment so she can feel better?
Mr Shankland’s mother, Mary, 74, said: ‘Green doesn’t know the meaning of the word remorse. [Green] shouldn’t get the operation, especially when so many people need vital treatment on the NHS – and they’re not getting it. But the authorities are jumping through hoops for [Green].’
