But are we not also sacrificing good, plain common sense?
In the past couple of years we all suddenly have to accept this new language and be told what to say, what not to say, what to think and what not to think? We have to tread on eggshells - the slightest wrong word people are being hounded, or complained against, and in the case of Mumsnet having our comments screened for "transphobia". There the madness lies.
Look at Madigan. This is someone who has not been diagnosed with gender dysphoria. Hasn't got a GRC. Hasn't had any hormone treatment. Has said they have no plans for surgery. But we all have to bow down and say "yes, this is a woman".
Anyone would say this is a transvestite or a cross-dresser. Pink News said that these terms are still acceptable to use and write.
Madigan has themselves said they have mental illness and has been hospitalised and treated with drugs used for schizophrenia. They have written about this openly. So surely it's common sense to say that this person is just a mentally fragile person - all their actions indicate they are not balanced, the way they hound one innocent person after another.
But we all fear that by saying this - in the politest, most moderate, non-offensive, non-judgemental way - we will be castigated or have our comments deleted. That is the madness, in my opinion.
