Aimee Challenor interview on Disability Arts

Interesting interview on Disability Arts online with Aimee Challenor about being trans and autistic, and the supposed barriers put up for autistic people.
A number of of reasonably sensible quotes from NHS England, I thought but they're dismissed fairly quickly in the article.
Still, it's good to see that doctors are aware of autism as a correlating factor and taking this into account even if they're being put under pressure not to.
They also mention Aimee's history with the greens but nothing to do with the reason for Aimee's suspension.
I guess they either didn't google Aimee before publishing, or are dismissing it.

Datun

Your comments made me think of this.

Time for an adaptation perhaps.

Trying to be charitable here but The best thing Aimee Channellor could do for themselves is to withdraw entirely from the public sphere (including social media) and get proper mental health support.

I think it's worth noting that Aimee & Dad are being investigated at the very highest level, in the form of the Westminster child abuse inquiry.

Where did you find they're being included in the inquiry? I didn't think they were high enough in the party.

IICSA will examine the case of David Challenor and how he was able to continue being a political agent for Aimee www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3409394-IICSA-will-examine-the-case-of-David-Challenor-and-how-he-was-able-to-continue-being-a-political-agent-for-Aimee#82193592

It doesn't matter really how high they were. Someone who has been charged with a crime of this severity should not be involved in politics.

Binglebong · 16/11/2018 19:20

I completely agree. I just didn't think the scope of the investigation would be that big. I'm very pleased it is.

There is one element that I agree with in there - autism support and GIRES should be accessed side by side and working together. The two elements will each influence the other. But the first year at least of GIRES needs to be questioning if someone really is trans or if other parts of their life is influencing their feelings on the matter.

Interesting. I was just reading aimme was diagnosed with oppositional defient disorder when aimme was a child.
I'd not heard of this until I came across the Tara (?) Wolf character. The person that likes punching 60 year old ladies.

Seems like an emerging trans activist theme.

Quite the get out of jail free card

autism support and GIRES should be accessed side by side and working together.

Did you mean GIRES, or GIDS?

Binglebong · 17/11/2018 00:01

By now I'm so tired I have no idea what I mean. The gender identity one.

Binglebong · 17/11/2018 00:06

NHS treatment I mean, they're both to do with gender identity. Tavistock.

Thought you did. Wink The whole thing is a bit of a mind-fuck Hmm
