I'm not sure if I've missed this being posted here. For 7 minutes Fox and Owl discuss their activism, the transphobia they face and their 'off the record' meetings with politicians on BBC 3.

They seem nice enough folk, hope they’re happy - i just can’t blindly believe what they want me to believe.

OrchidInTheSun · 10/11/2018 12:28

I don't think they're nice enough. I think they're whiny self-obsessed bores who are trying to trans children.

Ereshkigal · 10/11/2018 12:34

Agree with Orchid's assessment!

Came across this thread when I was pondering on this article where Owl wonders if Brexit will be like thrush. I wondered if it had been posted before:

metro.co.uk/2019/01/02/trans-immigrant-feel-unwelcome-in-uk-8228467/amp/

But I have to say HOW did I miss this activism film? It's on a par with #NUSTRANS18 for comedy gold.

I am left wondering how the hell they access policy makers.

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 03/02/2019 16:51

Fox did a nice screen print though.

Melroses · 03/02/2019 17:02

I was half listening to something on r4 called full circle on Thursday 1.45pm about a self absorbed individual called fox who found theirself and their identity through sex. In the next episode, this person was to find their soulmate. I did not listen to any more of this twaddle, but have checked and it was indeed a person called owl Hmm

LizzieSiddal · 03/02/2019 17:14

Melrose I listened to the whole thing! It was quite tortuous. 5 episodes of navel gazing, sexual experimentation and validation.

Fox did indeed meet Owl, but only after having a relationship with a lesbian.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 03/02/2019 17:16

Can anyone please explain - what exactly are Ferret and Foul for?

R0wantrees · 03/02/2019 17:22

They were on Radio 4 on Friday and do seem to gain a great deal of media exposure.

(I don't think I can comment truthfully about this series within MN FWR guidelines)

Melroses · 03/02/2019 17:31

It reminded me of someone I knew at uni that kept telling everyone that she had two boyfriends and about her all day sex sessions with one. TMI hadn’t been invented as a phrase then.

nauticant · 03/02/2019 17:40

I heard that Radio 4 programme and ground my teeth all the way through. Even before it got to Fox and Owl one of the blokes was being all "I'm gay and have no problem having a one-night-stand with a transman, I pity less enlightened people like my brother who choose a sexual partner according to their sexuality".

R0wantrees · 03/02/2019 18:20

Its just being repeated on R4 now, I've had to turn the radio off!

morningtoncrescent62 · 03/02/2019 18:44

The chanting in Totnes was really weird and the people doing it didn't sound at all convinced!

Who funds Fox and Owl? Their 'activism' would seem to be a full-time job, and it must be expensive all that travelling around the country. And how do they get access to all the ministers?

LizzieSiddal · 03/02/2019 18:50

I heard it too R0wantrees. Once just isn’t enough Wink

R0wantrees · 03/02/2019 18:57

It reminds me of those intense conversations sat around in circles where people nod and say 'fuck.... yeah man, intense!"

BoreOfWhabylon · 03/02/2019 19:03

Gods, I also hear the Ox and Fowl thing on Radio 4 on Friday. I thought it was a spoof of Woke Folk at first

tellmewhenthespaceshiplands · 03/02/2019 19:04

Kat, that article ... wow, it was like "I win Oppression Top Trumps coz I'm Trans and an Immigrant!". Very brave and very stunning indeed.

Weezol · 03/02/2019 19:06

Is Totnes still twinned with Narnia?

feellikeanalien · 03/02/2019 19:18

After I watched that clip in the OP's link bbc iplayer suggested that I might also be interested in watching Bing!!

ShowOfHands · 03/02/2019 20:17

I went to college with a girl called Laura who insisted we call her Lux. She was in a relationship with a het couple and they were all self identified shades of non binary, obviously very special and kept yelling in the pub about society putting them in boxes. She told me no less than 317 times that her sexuality was valid. I was 23 before I realised that valid wasn't a synonym for slightly boring.

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 03/02/2019 21:28

The Totnes Chanting just sounded so cultish.

Polestar50 · 04/02/2019 02:23

Oh god, I heard some of the Full Circle thing last week too. It was indeed tortuous, self-congratulatory and nonsensical claptrap.

The bit I heard was Fox and a man, who I believe described himself as gay, talking about having had sex. They talked for a long time about how very validating it was for Fox to have sex with a gay man and how amazingly open minded it was of the gay man to have sex with Fox, what with the female genitalia and all.

In old money, I think that would simply have been seen as a bisexual male having intercourse with a female who presents as male? All fairly mundane stuff.

However, in the shiny new world of gender identity it means the protagonists are trailblazers and very special indeed. So special that they deserve a series of radio programmes to tell us about their feelings about having sex with each other in excruciating detail.

Agree with Badmoonsarising, they all seemed nice enough, just utterly, utterly self absorbed.
